Take a look at some of the current top scorers and then look at the teams they scored goals against. There are many kids who are at the top of the points list every year that feast on weak opponents. Stats could be very misleading if strength of schedule is not taken into consideration.

Very very true.

Thought that too. I looked at the top scorer, she actually got plenty of points against a good team, not just against weak teams. Some other top girls also have played 6 games, others only 3. In fact, some teams play 16 games and others only 14. As far as strength of schedule goes, ALL of the divisions have weak and strong teams, Nassau has some of the weakest competition around, so it’s not only a Suffolk thing. All teams have a combination of weak and strong teams on their schedules. I think you have to look at all of these things. The problem is that Newsday promotes stat padding, as does Inside Lacrosse.

It’s like comparing apples and oranges

There will always be some head scratchers when looking at point leaders, but looking through, the traditionally top players are all well represented. Pretty accurate overall.[/quote

Shouldn’t it be different divisions and do the top point leaders in the different league divisions? Not lump them all together?
