Well there’s no better sign that AS is a huge money grab than them having 2 teams at each grade from Long Island. So 44 girls from each grade made the team. So much for it being for only the best players.

The AS website states:

“Each region will have 4 teams, one per age group”

Yeah and then they went and made 7 teams on Long island. 1 2022 team and 2 teams at the 2023/2024/2025 levels. Anytime you put a $600 price tag on playing in an event it's amazing how they can find a way to bring in more kids.


They should have been upfront with people. Not right!

Going with 2 teams will certainly water down the competitiveness of each team but going head to head with UA really makes 3 teams.... most likely the top talent will be spread out, everybody can say they made a team but it will now be "everybody gets a trophy". Sorry, but there are not 65+ legitimate "Top Tier Players" from each grad year from Long Island. Even if there was a way to select the "best" which there is not 65 plus players is just too many... The Good news is that if the Top 30 or so try out they will all most likely make one of the teams...

This sport is just screwed up...

The good news is that there is tremendous opportunity out there for all of the girls who want to play.
