I disagree. It matters in certain fields. If you want to apply to a top med, law or biz school, a degree from a top academic undergrad will be very helpful to have. If you want to get into finance right out of undergrad it will also matter. That said, I would rather hire a kid from a mediocre college who graduated at the top of his class over a kid who coasted at a top school.

That sounds about right but if you are not planning on working in med/law/finance it hardly matters where you go to school.

Where you went to college doesn't really matter when you apply to law school - the LSAT is about 75% of the equation. The top dude in my law school class went to Salisbury, and my law school was top tier.
