Still a huge gap between MD and UNC, and the rest of the field. A school would need 2-3 consecutive top recruiting classes (proven on the field) to have a legitimate shot at the NCAA championship. Would love to see it happen but it is a long shot.

Sorry but that's just incorrect , Notre Dame actually struggles to get many of the top players , a combination of weather , location in terms of a pain to get to, a very demanding academic schedule , ultra expensive , are some of the reasons .


ND meets ALL need (same as the Ivy's)and has scholarship money as well, so finances are rarely an issue and the school recruits itself in every sport - yes if your grades suck it makes it harder to get in, but far from impossible, every team has a certain amount of kids who would never get in academically, but they do get in - they're called academic exceptions. Unfortunately, the school won't give the football team the amount of exceptions needed for them to be competitive, which is why Urban Meyer didn't take the job several years ago
