The majority of D3 programs do not cut any players so offering a roster spot is irrelevant. If you are referring to offering one of their admissions slots then I agree, but disagree MIT doesn't have slots. MIT has spots for all sports (some are combined for multi sport athletes). I am sure that there are programs that have no slotted athletes but all the top academic D3 schools: Williams, Amherst, Swarthmore, Wesleyan, Pomona, Tufts, MIT etc. have slotted athletes.
