I find it Interesting how some programs are keeping their 2019 teams together and just adding when someone leaves and other programs are having tryouts and are going to cut kids. I understand that it is travel but this is the most important year.
Once in awhile the good of the kids should preceed the bottom line

Some clubs don't have the luxury of keeping the same people intact so they have to offer tryouts. No matter what, they are looking to be competitive and help this class bc like you said, this is the most important year. Which teams were your referring to?

Not sure about the statement of "helping this class". The whole club lacrosse is a major money maker; between tryout fees, tuition and additional fees, these guys are getting a pretty nice nest egg on the backs of these lacrosse players. Can't knock em though, they're getting people to pay for their fees because everyone is clamoring to be on the best team for maximum exposure.

This is when you need to take a step back and not get caught up in the frenzy. Great college lacrosse programs will find the best players. This is an extremely small percentage of the lacrosse population. Everyone else is open to the same exposure. There are great lower level D1 programs and D2 & D3 programs.

Ask your kid. Do you want the college to "own" you? (And they will!) What is more important? Academics or the sport itself? What kind of school does the player want to attend (small, medium, large)? Can you pay the tuition? (Not all schools provide good merit). More and more D1 caliber players are going D2 & D3 because they are taking into account these factors. Don't get caught up in the frenzy. Choose the school where your soon will be happy, play and get a great education.

You'll find that there is a school for everyone and you don't have to pay these ridiculous fees and your son will find the right school for him.
