Ahh starting another b level club team in harco has been done before. Its like true 2.0 super expensive, sweet new equipment, and film average nothing earned. You can't have kids playing "A" conference level 3 months out of the year then show up with club team and play in lower level brackets for other nine months. Yes they might be at same tournaments but the JC kids will be on sidelines in between games watching the other HARCO "A" conference kids compete. if you want to play in the "A" kids will need to stay away from their own school club to develop. Playing lower level in offseason does not prep kids for brutal schedule of MIAA. They will show improvement this year more cause the bottom of the league is really down. Does seem they are spending money, issue is they are now spending school money for same "B" level kids they got before. Top kids in 2028 went to CHC and other Bmore schools even when kids had family ties to JC, coaches couldn't land them.

Heard the same thing about Loyola. Alums are in an uproar about the culture and bullying. Admin doing nothing about it.
Side note - Wonder what the CHC goalie did to get the boot and be brought back, but also have Air Force take him. He played for Chc then blue ridge (Va) and now CHC? Something strange there or there is nothing at all. If this is your first step into the culture of these lax programs, I apologize for the sense of chaos you must feel. I don't know if the Philly Main Line schools are any less toxic/bullying/run by Man Baby Alumni with substandard sons who NeEd tO MaKe VaRsiTy fReShhman YeaR.....but Philly schools could not possibly be much worse than the culture of most of these MIAA programs, and those Philly schools send more of their lax holdbacks to play at the Ivies, at least. The reality is that given the portal, holdbacks, PG years, and boarding students all over the place, the meritocracy for "local students" isn't really a thing. Be a major donor, and/or have an (older) kid with outstanding athletic genetics, OR move your kid to a non-cut spring sport if they want to see the field and not just the backs of the starters' jerseys all spring. While I would love to go into what I find wrong with everything you say, which I do as it is everything that is wrong with sports besides professional, the sad reality is that you are right. And the sad reality is that it is not going away, frankly I am expecting other ways to skew the system . Anyone that wants to compete and give their son a good chance to play and enjoy high level lacrosse, read the above as the truth and do your best to follow. Proposed college roster limits would further limit college recruiting at the D1 level. Lacrosse can't get out of it's own way because nepotism and cronyism abounds.

Good coach, growing numbers, starting a club, box team and foundation?
In 1 year?
Sounds like they are finally taking it seriously.
That explains the detest.
Good for JC. New Coach needs to get kids to next level. Multiple year starters in the "A" conference and kids still have no home for next year. Got numbers in '28 class but more lower level talent that couldn't play anywhere else in "A". Heard good number of talented kids transferred out or decided not to play in order to transfer. Did get a game changer face off kid to build off of in future classes

JC is really good for the league and its footprint. As you pointed out, they are getting lots of players from Harford County and even Southern PA. If you know the league, you know there is plenty of talent up there in Hazzard County. They also just announced a club, box team, and foundation.
So they ain't going anywhere.
The new coach is also a great dude. One of the good guys of lax. IMO they are easy to root for. I believe JC had a bigger footprint when they were in the "B" then they do after numerous years in the "A"

And don't expect a club to develop your son. They generally only provide exposure. Spend money on individual training. Most of what kids accomplish is developed on their own. The kids who put in extra work are the ones who usually succeed.

If your kid is unreal he will play. If your kid is good he will play. If your kid is decent he will probably play but it depends. If your kid is in the margins, he won’t play unless there is some non talent reason pushing things. If your kid is terrible, he won’t play unless your checkbook gets a full workout or you have the same last name as someone on the staff.
Most of the complaints/whining/outrage come from parents of kids who are either decent or in the margins. Tough place to be in this league.
However, you knew how good/fast/tall/strong/connected your kid was before you decided to send him to an A conference school. It is what it is.

TOXIC culture at Calvert Hall is permeating through the athletic department and it starts with the leadership at this school. Athletic Director and coaching staffs have created a culture of entitlement with zero accountability. The stories pouring out about the lacrosse team (are you kidding me bringing the senior goalie back) and bullying of athletes from other sports by the football team is running rampant. Calvert Hall has lost its way and it’s win at all costs; the problem is there has been very little winning lately! Changes are needed across the board but unfortunately will never happen with Mulford/Kelly running the show for the entire athletic department.
Money Talks Morality Walks This is so true. In terms of the fall, soccer was a mess due to fresh lax players being guaranteed spots (on var and JV) and have heard horror stories about the freshman JV lax dads on soccer sidelines. Var football was not much better. Water polo was good but nobody cares. None of this bodes well for lacrosse season. Mulford needs to get a handle on whats going on but he won't/can't due to Kelly influence. The whole senior goalie thing speaks for itself and paints the picture perfectly of whats going on there (unfortunately).

The deepest teams only play 23 kids per game. But parents are surprised when there are 55 kids rostered and their child doesn't see field. 😆

It's gonna be a mess in the middle this year. Good luck figuring out the tiebreakers.
Spalding 9-1 McDonogh 8-2 StP 7-3 BL 6-4 Calvert - 6-4 Gilman 6-4 Mt St Joes 5-5 Loyola 5-5 John Carroll 2-8 Severn 1-9 St Mary’s 0-10

Lets at least try to be objective,
Spalding 9-1 BL - 7-3 St Paul’s - 7-3 McDonogh 7-3 Calvert Hall 7-3 Gilman 6-4 Loyola 5-5 Mt St Joes 3-7 Severn 3-7 St Mary’s 1-9 JC 0-10
We could see JC beat StM for a JC 1-9, and StM 0-10

BL has started to push out the local lax boys, as was promised. I haven't seen anything of St. Pauls that looks like they won't miss the playoffs by one game, yet again. I haven't seen anything of Loyola that looks like they won't flop early in the playoffs, yet again. Your predictions for Severn, MSJ, STM are solid. I have to believe JC will sneak in one win, they usually do. McDonogh 9-1 Spalding 9-1 Calvert Hall 7-3 BL - 6-4 Gilman 5-5 Loyola 5-5 St. Pauls 4-6 or even 3-7 Mt St Joes 3-7 Severn 2-8 St Mary’s 1-9 JC 1-9

Most of the complaints/whining/outrage come from parents of kids who are either decent or in the margins. Tough place to be in this league.
However, you knew how good/fast/tall/strong/connected your kid was before you decided to send him to an A conference school. It is what it is. There's a lot of truth to this, especially the last sentence. But for kids lacking the last name, age superiority, noticeable height (6'3"+), noticeable speed, it looks more like this based on varying lacrosse ability (aside from the above metrics): If your kid is unreal, he'll play...plenty (but won't start) (#12-22 on roster) If your kid is good he will play some, in several games (#23-30 on roster) If your kid is decent he will step on the field at least once in the season, but probably not more (bottom 25 of roster) If your kid is in the margins, he'll be cut. If your kid is terrible, he'll be cut on the first day. The fact is, if your kid is giant, fast, or "known to the school," he's going to get more than a fair look. Even if he cannot catch a hard pass. Your 5'6" sophomore/junior son with "decent" speed, and your name not on the Donors Wall, better be able to "do all the things" and then he'll either start JV or ride the bench at Varsity.

Agreed but I would add that this process varies depending on the school. Yes, all MIAA schools have politics but some more than others. At BL and McD, you also need to contend with scholarshipped kids who are boarding. Coach is not going to have a kid who where he convinced the school to allocate financial resources to ride the pine.

Another word salad with zero credibility. If you are good and can play, you will start in MIAA, and this is a big one, unless the coach knows the player trying out for same position. Most MIAA players are about the same ability, it is only some grit and playing time that separates them. Half the players in MIAA are at same athletic level as the McD number one player was. His playing time and some grit got him to the top of MIAA heap

Funniest prediction of all CH - thinking 6-4 but close McD - bulk of team is still 91, they compete with Spalding for crown BL - 5-5 at BEST MSJ - ehhh, unlikely but maybe Sev - will only beat SM & JC JC - will only beat SM SM - not a chance 0-10 AS - competes with McD for championship

People are badly underestimating Spaulding. McD better have 2-3 to defensive transfers. Gilman has been stockpiling talent while BOTC haters have been roasting them. Same with MSJ. BL and Loyola graduated a ton of players but have a good jv pipeline. CH has talent but some internal culture problems. StP has talent, but seems to struggle getting over the hump. JC and Severn are on the right path, but need a couple years. StM has an uphill battle but the new coach needs to be given a chance.

Spaulding will be in the mix for the 5th and 6th seed for the playoffs. Strong offensively with solid upperclassmen at attack. BL is going to be much better then thought. Lots of talented out of towners came the last two years and now is their chance. Still have Liam White! StP could be anywhere from top to bottom will have possibly the best offense in the league with a solid returning defense. Gilman has one returning contributor from last year on offense and very little else on that side of the ball. They have a good fogo and a solid goalie. McD again no one should compete with. Too much returning talent mixing with top ranked recruits . Still have Seibel in goal. Loyola could be another dysfunctional year and not much returning. CHC same as Loyola with a little better talent. MSJ will upset one or two of the teams above but not up to the top 4. Capable of beat beating Gilman and StP!! JC too has the ability to beat Gilman or StP just a few players players short.
