Let me say this in my opinion and experience. Do not go at this age. Don’t justify it by saying “hey just want me son to get experience at a showcase”… just not worth until the end of 10th grade.

Speak to the coaches, directors, or owners of your son’s club team, as well as his high school coach. The advice should be better than you will receive here.

Agreed, 91 worries too much about rankings of their top teams so they pick and choose tournaments where they can influence their schedule more. Coach C will put Express up against anyone at anytime, he may hurt your wallet while doing that though.

Players weren’t the problem last year. They had a great Fall season then many of the starters including the faceoff guy got hurt. Couldn’t win a faceoff the rest of the year, impossible to win when you can’t get possession and on top of that you have a short bench.

They have 1.5 fields now. Get it right.

I don't think he ever joined fusion futures. His instagram profile says dc express but you are correct, I've heard he is sniffing around a certain miaa school where his personality would fit right in.

Good morning! Looking for some suggestions/advice on showcases. Saw it on the old thread. As we all having kids entering 10th grade next year, I was always told that's the time to enter some showcases/camps, etc.
1) are there any that you'd recommend?
2) are they worth it?
3) do specific colleges offer camps for kids who may be interested in attending their schools?
4) is it necessary?

What happen to the new Fusion Futures Goalie? Heard he jumped ship cause he couldn't cut it and now is looking for a new home in the Maryland.

What do you mean, St. Mary's with their one turf field isn't nice? Athletic facilities holding them back way too much. Holding them back almost as much as new coach.

Glad to hear the player will be ok. Very glad to hear the other player was ejected. There are too many intentional late hits that get a slap in the wrist. And they are happening all the time lately. Glad to see a ref finally set a kid straight. Hopefully it sends a message to the coach as well.

They are not a money grab. They have a full staff of dedicated coaches and are a solid team.

Honestly he’s a little thin and a ball hog. Lots of great players get cut as sophomores. Just keep hitting wall and TT may take him back for next year. Or he can return to HHH. God knows they need more talent over there.

And the wallet

Not talking about eliminating risk but reducing it by not giving 30 second releasables to obvious late hits and cheap hits like one-handed hatchet checks from behind and 10 yard clear out hits. Maybe some insane dad coach of the double reclass/future reclass player wants this type of play but few others do.

Is the Express East team any good? Someone else called them a money grab. Seems like they are a tier below Igloo, Rebels and Chucks on LI.

Rankings are rankings like them or not. And based on fall
results are in line. A lot of teams take on lighter schedule, especially HS teams because of football.

looking at the local DC teams:

DCE - how did they go from one of the weakest teams in HoCo this spring to #6 nationally?

MadLax - They keep getting new suckers (oops, new players) from somewhere and remain competitive.

Next Level - I don't know what it is with this team. they have been almost good for awhile but can't get into a grove.

VLC - it is a shame they did not get a team together - all three teams mentioned have oversized rosters (not the mention players on their B teams who want to play) to support one more good team in the region. missed opportunity.

Express definitely challenges themselves, venom doesn’t. I think Surge now Tritons, played a more difficult schedule last year

The big players are slow. TT has a very good defender who is not particularly big and is not slow. He is also very good. I just think BL has better defenders overall. TT's goalies are both very good. BL's goalies are just better. They will play again and it should be a great game.

MvB is a beast. TT lost him because of an inability to evaluate talent. BL picked up a couple of other great mids from TT.

BL has MvB, absolute beast.

Your kid must be a reclass in order to play for 2Way, it’s a prerequisite. Two years is best, but they’ll allow one year if he’s good enough

So you don’t like that everyone is playing in the fall?

There are issues virtually everywhere...

Hawks- Pittsburg kids don't have to practice yet get more playing time than legacy hawks kids of superior talent
True Chessy- enjoy your starting job until coach finds a better player in North Carolina or Georgia willing to fly in and take his spot (page out of crabs playbook)
Madlax- everything is kosher as long as you don't mind being a cog in a machine, the team keeps winning and CM doesn't decide to reclass his kid and destroy team cohesion. Oh, please ignore the families that have already left the toxicity.
True VA/VLC- massive step down in talent and competition.

Maybe DC Express could be an option. They aren't as competitive at the 29 age group yet but are growing and are an elite organization. By next year they will be a power.
