So how does that work for Fusions? I noticed on the roster that there are players that play on fusions and other high level teams. For example a player that is both on Fusions and Hawks. Is fusions a composite team of all stars and invites or a stable year round team? Are they a team carrying multiple holdbacks? This a serious question not looking to start BS convo. Their two best offensive players are holdbacks (midfielder and left attack - actually both of their lefty attack are holdbacks, one just happens to be significantly better than the other). NAL was age verified right? So wouldn’t those kids just have at worst summer birthday? Not like a holdback such as having a fall 2009 birthday. So how does that work for Fusions? Can't speak entirely to the roster of Futures this year but 85% of their kids also played in the World Series which is a Sept 1st cutoff. The student lefty attack is a summer birthday, but was also a student lefty attack for the 2028 Duke's team. The midfielder supposedly is a June birthday, but there's a good bit of questionable activity around that birthdate. He was also a student for the 2028 Brotherly Love team. This is one of the nuanced areas around the holdback issue. It's the question of, what's more beneficial, the age or the age and an extra year of formal lacrosse training at a higher level than might be available to other kids. Regardless, these kids performed at a high level on age, then stayed back to have a leg up on other kids. Regardless of the outcomes in middle school, I can't imagine this truly benefits these kids. Ultimately, it is what it is. These are the kids our kids will be measured against. The goalie missed the cut-off by a week for the World Series and I don't believe he's ever held back, but started school late. Can't be overstated how much better he is than the goalie they had at WS. And that World Series team benefitted from an easier bracket because of a higher ranking that should have gone to True Ches who beat them at the qualifier (not a True Ches parent). That world series team was very beatable, unlike the full squad. They're a good team without their holdbacks, but all but unbeatable with them. Again, it is what it is, but lets not forget these points when handing out flowers to Futures.

Don’t forget the losses all these kids were taking on their previous teams before this all star team was formed. I always remind their parents when they are acting like clowns. Shuts them up quick. Other then that, I enjoy watching my son play against this team and holding his own against these kids.

Again, it is what it is, but lets not forget these points when handing out flowers to Futures. Their left attack and Midfielder played on the 2028 Brother Love team not because they are 2028 reclasses but because the 2029 Brotherly Love team is a hot mess. Many 2029 Philly Freedom kids actually play up on the 28 team for the same reason. I think the issue lies in our definition of reclass. Technically, any summer birthday is a reclassed kid. My kid has been on a couple of teams over the years and based on Teamsnap birthdates, I would guess 40% of all HOCO elite rosters are populated with summer birthdays. I bet 90% are born between June 1 and Dec 31. Not quite Malcolm Gladwell's team distribution but there's a reason we don't see many 2011 birthdates on these 2029 rosters. In regards to the WS, True Chesapeake was a hybrid TC, Hawks and ML team. Several of Futures WS players did not attend the qualifier weekend. Not saying they would have definitely beat TC/Hawks/ML in the WS but it would be a mistake to assume that outcome.

Yeh if you hold back it’s a huge advantage. Despicable that people do this. They are cheaters, karma has its own rules.

OMG, where the "reclass" complaint has sunk to: 1) some boy is a week or a month older than another, all perfectly within the age/grade requirements, and 2) another boy sometimes chooses to play UP and then sometimes chooses to play ON AGE. Wow, what a bunch of complaining jealous Karens.

Yes this is where is had gotten to. However I am not sure you realize that a player with a June 15, 2010 birthday is significantly stronger, bigger, and faster then a Player with a June16th birthday. There is a magical day where the "massive" change occurs for every boy. Poof "To my dear son, your day has come, and at midnight your body will magically transform and you will be 5'10, 165lbs, extremely handsome, and better then everyone else. Congratulations. Also make sure that you congratulate your friends because tonight it will be happening to them." LOL.

Now how to handle natural growth differences, perhaps a better suggestion: Welterweight 5'9" Class of 2029?

Yes, that was our experience too. The prospect days definitely opened some doors, especially for our oldest.

The problem with Next Level is the coaching, they don't play to win and end of game clock management is terrible. More than a few parents are considering options.

The problem with Next Level is the coaching, they don't play to win and end of game clock management is terrible. More than a few parents are considering options. There are issues virtually everywhere... Hawks- Pittsburg kids don't have to practice yet get more playing time than legacy hawks kids of superior talent True Chessy- enjoy your starting job until coach finds a better player in North Carolina or Georgia willing to fly in and take his spot (page out of crabs playbook) Madlax- everything is kosher as long as you don't mind being a cog in a machine, the team keeps winning and CM doesn't decide to reclass his kid and destroy team cohesion. Oh, please ignore the families that have already left the toxicity. True VA/VLC- massive step down in talent and competition. Maybe DC Express could be an option. They aren't as competitive at the 29 age group yet but are growing and are an elite organization. By next year they will be a power.

His instagram profile says dc express but you are correct, I've heard he is sniffing around a certain miaa school where his personality would fit right in.

Discussion question- Best overall rec/club program in the area. Not looking for a team but there is so much focus on private clubs wondering the thoughts. Now that a lot of recs don’t field a team and many people have had experiences with them. Which rec programs for the youngest of players up provide good lacrosse? This is not an us vs them discussion question.

Rankings are updated fixing the Next Level fiasco. 5 MD teams in the top 20. Things will change as more national teams get to 6 games but it's great to see such an abundance of success for MD clubs.
