Technically the last poster is correct! Based off his lost definition of competitive (per the hoco website) they did win 2 more games last year than this year. Big gotcha moment! 2021 - 6/6 2022- 5/9 5-2 (1 loss by 1) 2023 - 5/8 2024 - 8/8 Think that is less competitive

I am going to throw out 91 as a place to look at. The other three mentioned all are good organizations, and every one of those clubs offer something a little different. I can speak from experience that the coaching and development is excellent at 91. The team has grown tremendously this year, and if you talk to most parents, they are very happy with the organization and how things are run. The head coach not being a dad was very attractive to our family, if your son works hard and is coachable, he will improve and see the field a lot. Nothing wrong with dad coaches and their recruiting of their kid's friends is why they usually win in Middle School, but that all ends in two years and is a very short-lived thing. They also promote multiple sport athletes, some other teams pressure kids to pick one sport/team in Middle School. If you want your son to be prepared and on the right track as he enters the High School phase of his career, 91 is absolutely somewhere to consider. Look who is here , Hi Mark ! Thanks for the info.

That Hawks team was never competitive. Had a losing record in Hoco for 3 straight years. The coach resigned before the 4th year. Then with several favorite parents took the “best 8” starters and their talent to the clippers. End of story…. Couldn’t be more incorrect They certainly were more competitive then they are now How much more competitive are the clippers this year? Both these teams are cancerous and not that good. Clippers won Crabfeast and Hawks won Aloha. Easy question.

Not with current players and current coaches. The fact is, with so many teams in the area, they will all simply remain “middle of the pack” and fighting to move up. It will be up to each player to develop individually and outside of what their club team does. Gone are the dominant days of the hawks. It’s evident at many other levels and will continue going forward for their younger teams. Just do a good job of supporting your kid and encourage him to work on his own. He’s not getting better at 2x week practices.

Want to see cancerous vibes? Go look at the Crabs 2030. Angry, distraught miserable parents and kids. Hawks 2030, a shell of times past and banished to Aloha tourneys heck, you could be True Chesapeake 2030 and ready to fold after the season.

Not Mark. There are a lot of misconceptions spread on this forum and in the real world, and just trying to correct those for parents who are looking at options this summer. 91 Maryland has this reputation that they don't put time into the youth program because their HS program has been in the spotlight the last few years, but that is not true at all. There is a lot of great player development throughout the entire year. Not to say the other clubs don't offer something similar, there are a ton of great options in the area for lacrosse, but 91 is one of better programs in the area.

First hand experience with Clippers and Crabs - you should avoid both clubs. Parents of Clippers are the most obnoxious I've ever seen cursing at refs yelling "protect our children!" anytime another team wins a physical play against their goons. As for Crabs, they're collectors of talent not developers as they attempt to talent hoard by ransoming your spot on the team if you dare play an additional non-conflicting tournament with any other team. Team 91 MD and FCA are the only elite clubs in the Baltimore area actually developing talent and growing as a team.
Best of luck at tryouts all.

Best of luck at tryouts all. Nice try Hawks coaching staff. We all know who are the non-developers here. Against elite teams you all have no chance! Even after bring in guest players (Mostly from True Chesapeake), you barely beat AAA teams such as the cannons and prostart. Buyer beware. If any of the daddy coaching staff comes back please do yourself a favor and run. And don't fall for the bait and switch with the coaching staff. Hogan's business model!

If you’re choosing a team for your rising 7th grader on wins and losses - you truly do not understand sports or lacrosse Agreed. First post addressed need at positions. After that it was won loss record. What parent can't see that jumping on a team currently winning means your middle schooler is probably riding the bench? Most teams can always use another good pole or SSDM/2-way and maybe get some playing time, but taking a chance on that is your child's best option? Maybe going to a club that hasn't reached its potential yet, has needs, and where your child can make a difference would be better?

Some “elite” clubs have terrible reputations w higher level coaches due to the work ethic of the boys…. Clubs practice on avg 2x a week, I’ve seen “winning” clubs with @ChillLaxin practices and losing clubs with practices developed around development. A club 2 x week practice does not make a kid elite…what they do on the outside does. Play time - minutes on the field…that matters

WRONG! If you are playing on a losing team, you are learning what? Yes, practice on your own, train hard and h it the wall. But you want your kid practicing against other good kids, That’s what helped him improve. Playing for a cruddy team, playing in B tourneys isn’t the recipe for success.

WRONG! If you are playing on a losing team, you are learning what? Yes, practice on your own, train hard and h it the wall. But you want your kid practicing against other good kids, That’s what helped him improve. Playing for a cruddy team, playing in B tourneys isn’t the recipe for success. Raise your hand if you weren’t an athlete and are living through your kid.

The top players will continue to play for the traditional top teams. Thanks for that captain obvious! Annapolis - Clippers: Best team to be on. TC: 50/50 Needs players at all positions. Hawks: If the same coaching staff comes back..... Run!!!! ProStart: AAA Baltimore - Crabs: Best team to be on. Fca: AAA 91: AAA DC - NL: Team already set. Help needed at the goalie and middie positions. MadLax: Needs players at all positions. Talk about Captain Obvious ! Thanks Crabs dad. FCA won HOCO elite Welcome , Crabs will be team to beat this year, Reloaded and doing what Crabs do best. Look elite Crabs just lost to the Clippers for a 2nd time
Clippers allowed double digit goals against team 91. Almost lost. Clippers didn't make the playoff in HOCO. If you’re choosing a team for your rising 7th grader on wins and losses - you truly do not understand sports or lacrosse Being on winning teams is better than losing teams. Winning teams are usually elite and that is where you want to be. If you cant handle it, maybe Lacrosse is not for you. Starts early, and I mean early in lacrosse #misinformed Nobody cares what tournament a team won in 4-8th grade.
Talk about someone who has not played at a high level or been thru it with a son. Wow is all I can say! Top Clubs are Top Clubs for a reason. Be on one early or suffer the consequences .. Iron Sharpens Iron
