Let's try this again. A different take on the power rankings informed by week 1. (and from a different poster):
Week 2 Power Rankings A Division #1 Coppermine (per Summer and Fall Tournaments and Week 1 performance) #2 Maryland United (Playing good lacrosse) #3 M&D (Always dangerous) #4 Heroes Green (Risk being caught by Crush this year) #5 Crush (Out to crush doubters) #6 Pride (Good start; we'll see) #7 Skywalkers (Did they get some new talent?) #8 FCA #9 Stars #10 Heroes White #11 Next Level #12 HoCo #13 CCLax #14 NEMS

2028-NGLL Wk 1 STARS 2028 Light Blue 9 Hero's 2028 white 8 Stars - 1.5 Tight game as expected. Very equal teams.
2028-NGLL Wk 1 CCLax 2028 5 Next Level 6 CCLax -4.5 Upset here. CCLax playing in A couldn't beat a team I assumed wrongly that they could handle.
2028-NGLL Wk 1 Next Level 2 Maryland United 2028 East 13 MDU -8.5 Domination. NL may have been gassed from the tight CCLax game earlier but wasn't in this at all.
2028-NGLL Wk 1 HoCo 2028 Black 5 PRIDE 2028 RED 15 Pride -7 Pride offense way too much.
2028-NGLL Wk 1 Coppermine 2028 Black 6 Hero's 2028 green 4 Copp -4.5 I had Coppermine a little too high. FP shots made the difference. These teams are more equally matched than I gave them credit. One of them could miss playoffs sadly.

I think all of the games between any of the top 5 teams will be decided by 2 goals. They all play solid defense. Goals are not going to come easy for any of them. And FP shots will play a big role. It is too bad that one of them will get left out of the play off run.

Taking MDU with -1
Pride wins but closer than the 6.5 line
HoCo Black -4.5.
Pretty good lines.

I know there is no such thing as a moral victory, but Crush losing by one with few subs and playing in their second day of the day is pretty impressive. They must have a good game plan against Coppermine as they always keep it close.
Very solid win for MDU
Could Pride or SW pull a surprise win vs the top 5?

One big reason is because they played in all the higher brackets at summer and fall tournaments. So they are not shell shocked by any of the top teams. They may have a lot of tourney losses, but they have field experience. I don’t know if they will pull off an upset or not, but they have the experience to do so.

However, the Crush Coppermine game wasn't as close as the score indicated.

The score is exactly how close a game is. The only time any score may indicate a game wasn't as close as a score would indicate is when a handicapping system is used and points are added or subtracted from one team/person, e.g., golf. Since that isn't the case with lacrosse, the score is the indicator of the "closeness" of a game. No extra/fewer points are given based on when the points are scored.

Then Crush battles back to 7-6 but runs out of time... really not close at all?...Ok The poster is probably a Coppermine parent that pays $3k so their daughter can watch from the sideline. Or, if fortunate enough to get on the field, pass the ball to the only two scorers they have on the team! Ouch! Talk about your bang for the buck... $3k vs maybe $800 = 1 goal Don't think Crush parents should be criticizing other teams for running a 2 girl offense. Might not be a Crush parent. Anyone who's seen Coppermine play knows only two girls are allowed to initiate offense and one girl is allowed to cut. So initial poster was wrong...there are 2.5 goal scorers

6-3 is making $$$. Some surprises... I know there is no such thing as a moral victory, but Crush losing by one with few subs and playing in their second day of the day is pretty impressive. They must have a good game plan against Coppermine as they always keep it close. Very solid win for MDU Could Pride or SW pull a surprise win vs the top 5? There are no moral victories between the top 5. The gap between the top 5 is very narrow. Any one of them are capable of beating each other on any given day. The top 5 are all competitive with each other as you mention and really separate from the rest of A. However, the Crush Coppermine game wasn't as close as the score indicated. Crush / Coppermine not as close as the score indicated ? Game started with Crush 1-0, then tied 1-1, then Crush 2-1, then Copperrmine answers with 4 to make it 5-2, then Crush battles back to 5-3, then Coppermine answers with 2 to take a 7-3 lead. Then Crush battles back to 7-6 but runs out of time... really not close at all?...Ok I can't comprehend the thought process that anyone uses to say a game wasn't as close as a score indicated.
-What the original poster meant is that it was a 3 goal lead for Coppermine with about 9 minutes left in the game and that held until about 2 mins left, when Crush scored making it a 2 goal game. Then scored another just before time expired. So the point was that Coppermine wasn't really in danger of losing in the final few minutes.

Then it wasn't even close.

Seems they are going towards a 1.5 girl offense. The supporting cast may do really well at CCBC!
As usual here come the disparaging looking down your nose remarks. Can't just enjoy a very good game played by two good teams. Same class act as the LSU ring on my finger gesture

So...50 of the 2026 UA 150 from MD (that's one-third from one state), and 11 from VA. I don't think those numbers will do anything but bolster the high degree of confidence expressed on this board in the quality of play in the region.
Even as lacrosse grows in the South and West, it appears that the Mid-Atlantic hotbed will remain highly-relevant nationally.

Even as lacrosse grows in the South and West, it appears that the Mid-Atlantic hotbed will remain highly-relevant nationally. Not a good measuring stick anymore as 150 is watered down due to competition from Juniors Open. There are M&D red and SW white players on it. And I think only 1 player from the top YJ team at 2026. Juniors Open is same weekend and draws the top NY/NJ players. And it looks like it is gaining more traction with MD/VA since it appears there are at least 10 M&D black and Heros green players on the 2026 open rosters. And I bet some families only picked UA 150 over JO because it is local and cheaper.
