Reposting last post from previous SY: Hot take but yjb could easily be better then yj a. Watching their game against FLG proved it. They don't have the greatest players but make it work, good coaching. Their zone was very good and they worked as a team. They seem to have the things that yj a doesn't have. Next year they could definitely be top 15 if they get a few more good players and keep up with the coaching. It wouldn’t be the first time YJB beat YJA, love to see that! Keeping grinding girls! Assuming they keep their top players which is near inpossible for a B team. Genuine question for some of the parents that have had older kids through the programs. Does it make more sense to be one of the top player on a “B” team or to seek out an “A” team where they might not see much of the field? Some of these second teams have been doing very well and can argue with a few adjustments and the addition of a few stronger players they would be right there with the “A” teams. Great question that we faced with our daughter who played on YJB, there were many talented girls on that team, and in fact they played the A team a couple times and beat them. So my daughter was asked to play on the A team, but we left for a different club, as did several others because of the YJ nonsense. We went to TG, which worked out well. YJA never beat them and they were always ranked higher. The problem with playing on a B team, is that you usually (not always) will not get the looks from the top schools. Look at B team commitment lists. I would definitely recommend playing for Legacy, TG, Jesters, or YJA, but only if your daughter is valued and gets decent playing time. Being a top player on B is not as good as being a mid level player on A. If you are on any team, and not seeing meaningful field time, that is definitely not good. It is definitely very stressful trying to make the right decision, Good luck! Great post. From our experience, the bigger issue with a B teams, especially a YJ B team is that the top players never stick around year to year (until 9th grade). As a result, you never know how competitive the team will be. You can be a top 10 team one year and be lucky to be top 30 the next.

Let the craziness begin!!!!! Just wait until 9th grade when everyone starts becoming a lunatic I actually expect a bit less movement on top teams than last year, especially if FLG stays together. Summer before 7th grade is always the biggest year for movement

Not a lot of talk about FLG getting more players, the girls will probably stay together because they all look very close much like aces. I expect a few more players to join the FLG team to make the 15 player roster bigger and possibly more deeper and more talented.

What clubs should you stay away from? There are not clubs that are bad just some have very bad problems. Top guns has a crazy coach who seems to almost bully his players, his comments are mean but if your daughter can handle it top guns is good (do not compare to FLG YJA ). YJ has the mommy daddy coaching situation. Their roster is very big ( and super talented) but they only play 14-16 players, their coaching is not the greatest they seem to play almost dirty. Jesters is a good mid level club for this age however they do have a parent coach, which is not the worst if he doesn't favor his kid and is good, which looks like he is. FLG has very good coaching but their roster size is very small. Right now if your daughter wanted to join a good top team i would look at FLG because their roster is so small now your daughter will benefit and play. Also YJ B if they got a few more good players they could really be top15.

Not trying to stir it up but kids getting close to high school now. If your daughter is serious about playing lacrosse and wants to do so in college she needs to be at a club that is going to put them in the right tournaments and has a track record of recruiting.

Before you start saying stuff like this maybe you should see what tournaments FLG has played in this year. They played in big tournaments, and recruiters are not going to go to watch a team because of their club their going to go to a good team that has a good players. You don't need to be on YJ to go to collage for lacrosse. What happened in 2021 summer happened and FLG did not play in good tournaments. This year was different. Recruiters scout good teams and I'm pretty sure any top 10-15 team in the nation is good. Also do you know about LILJ, that is very big on the island. You know who runs it, the Winkoffs, who also run FLG. I'm pretty sure they run numerous events involved with collage coaches and recruiting. Girls on a GOOD flg team will have an advantage with the Winkoffs who have contact with many collage coaches, and the girls have first hand exposure to LILJ and their recruiting events.

FLG hasnt had a relevant girls team in years. If this team has finally had some good tourney results then congrats. Regarding the LILJ that is the biggest joke on LI. NOBODY cares about that FLG slanted uninformed nonsense. Regarding college contacts YJ, TG are way ahead. Just look at their commits over the years. Jesters has made some in roads with some of their commits lately. Finally..... if your good..... college coaches will find you.

Dominating against a poor team won’t get you to a top college. People at a club like yj want to go to the best and are disappointed when they don’t call.

Reality is that many of the bench girls from this year will be playing on the B team or another club next season. Even some starters from this season will likely find playing time sparse come next summer.

Welcome to the sport where the wealthy kids succeed.

Our daughter has played on Liberty Black now for a few years and she could not be happier. The girls have a nice chemistry and you have seen some strong development on both sides of the ball. The team is made up of girls who play multiple sports but who have started to focus more on lacrosse. Danielle Gallagher's knowledge of the game is why so many girls come to Liberty and she is heavily involved in practices and winter clinics. Both Amanda Johansen and Danielle Etrasco are also involved in practice planning and winter clinics and have played the game at the highest level both playing for the USA and Professional teams. The 2027 Black team has two full-time coaches who the players love playing for. One of the coaches is a parent, but the girls love his energy and devotion to the team.
Reach out to any family or player and get their thoughts because 95% will have very positive things to say about their experience with Liberty. Liberty is a club that will be in all of the big tournaments going forward if that is something that you are focused on. And if your daughter is an A- or B+ player looking to take her game to the next level and get more playing time on the field, this is a great option. This team played M&D to a tie at half, tied FLG, and only lost to YJ A 8-5. Haters will point to bad loses against Eagle Stix and Aces, but those were outliers and not reflective of the season this team had.
If you want your daughter to learn from some of the best and have fun playing the game with a bunch of great girls, Liberty is definitely worth checking out.
Liberty Red gets to work with a lot of the same coaches, but plays in the appropriate tournaments and brackets for the their ability. If your daughter is newer to the game but wants to get better and have fun, this is also a great option. I like to judge it by how the girls on this team are always smiling and having fun with each other. And at the end of the day if lacrosse is not the end all be all for your daughter, shouldn't having fun be the main objective.
Liberty tryouts are this Friday, July 29th and definitely worth checking out for players who want to make a difference and contribute to a team that is on the rise and developing high level players.

The best girls in Nassau play on TG. Last season, 5/9 NC All-Americans were TG players, four of which were only juniors. I know two of them left Liberty a few years ago because they were concerned their daughters were not being challenged and worried about recruiting.

You will get mixed answers. The Red team takes everyone. Anyone that says they don’t is lying. The A team has dropped in the rankings since last year and is a steep drop off from the A teams that get a lot of chatter on here. As for what the poster above said about playing top tournaments, they didn’t this summer. They played a few but plenty of lesser tournaments as well. Key for this team is keeping their top players. They lost a few last year and assume they will again this year. They definitely have girls that sit the bench most of the time even with the tight numbers on the roster. That said the coach is amazing and well regarded and definitely dedicated.
