hills east didn't lose the game. they won 7-6 with 10 seconds left. And the reason the game was that tight was because f the Northport goalie who had 15 saves. How does hhhe lose to northport with that team?!?! Also brand new coach at HHHE, so it is going to take some time for them to get comfortable with the new system.

So, based on early games lets look at how teams have performed relative to expectations: Massapequa - not dominant West Islip - lopsided loss to expected mediocre F'dale team Smithtown E - bad occ loss Locust Valley - rocked by medioce port team GC - rocked by very good suffolk team and loss great MD team but spanked over rated syosset St. A's - surprising loss Sayville- spanked in opener
Manhasset + 0-2 but close games one of which against supposedly the best in nassau Farmingdale + nice occ win Port Washington + spanked lv CSH+ was underdog against manhasset Smithtown W + GC beat down Chaminade + spanked strong MD team OCC Rocky Point+ gave HHHW all tehy could handle
HHHW will be in many games like this. Young team, with a lot of heart. Penalties killed them and that kept Rocky Point in this game. Rocky Point fogo is really good, and HHHW did a great job of containing him. Will be an interesting season. rocky pt team not very good. m.c. out shot r.p. by 30% and won more face offs. rp goalie play kept them from loosing!. It didn't seem like the RP goalies were saving much besides stuffs on the door step. They have a good offense, but the penalties are what kept RC in the game versus HHHW.

Give credit where it is due, not excuses. My son is on the Hills squad and our coach had nothing to do with it. We took 22 high percentage shots an the Northport kid stood on his head to keep them in the game. If not for that, it would have been a blow out. hills east didn't lose the game. they won 7-6 with 10 seconds left. But how do you beat the goalie in your estimates, where did the 7 come from, fast breaks, slow break, outside shots, screened shots (a lost art on kids these days)

When was the last time WI started the season 0-2? 2014. Started 0-2, went 13-7 and lost to Smithtown East in County Championship, beating Ward Melville and Smithtown West in playoffs. No need to panic yet. Changes are coming. Not this year !

The game was tight from the begining, and when HHHW would get on a run, they would make a bone head penalty. The new players need to get caught up, HHHW graduated a lot of talent last year. Saves - HHHW: Zakarachis 5, Coffey 3; RP: Kotarski 5;

I think the statement that they beat the goalie in this one is the wrong statement. It was hhhe 22 shots to Northports 10 first and foremost. The shots were a mixture of crease, 10 yards out and most were on the run across and down the alley. The shooters were all dropping there sticks which makes it incredibly difficult to pick up the shot. In addition, it was tied with under a minute and npt had the ball coming off a time out and made the biggest mistake in sports. They could have held for the last shot and never even got one off. Winning goal was a fast break less than 10 yards out. So yes, a win is a win bu it could have easily been a different outcome. That kid gave his team every chance to actually win the game and pull a huge upset and in this one, they let him down. So yeah, team sport, win as a team and lose a second a team, but that goalie did not get beat. Give credit where it is due, not excuses. My son is on the Hills squad and our coach had nothing to do with it. We took 22 high percentage shots an the Northport kid stood on his head to keep them in the game. Two good games today
LV at Port - gotta take LV Pequa vs Manh - gotta take Pequa Um, WRONG and almost WRONG obviously not your strong suit yep, missed on that one. Imagine if the goalie play wasn't as good as he is. Poor Port def must have been bored, 8 shots on goal! Gotta get 15-20 on cage. LV is really down this year so Ports win isnt that impressive. Here come the excuses for the LV loss..... Don't use the "we are a young team" excuse. 7 of Ports 13 were scored by 2020 players Thanks for the breakout Visor Dad.

He demands a lot from the team, and they work hard for him. Good for a young team like they have. Most of their best players are Juniors and sophomores.

Big time., He is the antithesis of the girls coach. He doesn't give a darn about his players and on the recruiting front, he does absolutely nothing for anyone. Offers to make calls, even goes as far as asks the players for lists of schools they are interested in and states he will make the calls and never does anything. Looks like the Northport coach blew another game, it’s been happening for years. Most disliked coach in the town

Li team's should do 2-3 tournaments as a team.
Doesn't Ward Melville do a summer invitational. Lax fest has the grade Nassau/Suffolk games and which also has HS games One other out of town and that is perfect. NHSLS, Hot Beds. Etc

ALL High School Teams should play in at least 2 summer events and from experience, the NHSLS and Battle of the Hot Beds in DE are two great events to build team chemistry but also get the players exposure. It's unfortunate a lot of teams coaches do not want anything to do with the team once the season is over...

I think its funny when a high school coach doesnt have the team play together over the summer there are parents that complain the coach doesn't do enough. Then you have high school coaches that have the kids do one or two tournaments over the summer and you have parents complain they do too much.

The northport coach does have them do tournaments and showcases but his system is flawed. You are going to these evens against select teams from all over the country with kids looking to be seen for college as well as jell with their teams for the coming season. He is inviting kids who will never see the field on varsity let alone play in college and takes the "pay to play" approach so everyone plays equal time. So you are hurting your players who are there for exposure because yes if a college coach is there to see a specific kid he will, but the sidelines aren't full for the teams getting slammed on the 2nd or 3rd day because you haven't won a game due to this. I think its funny when a high school coach doesnt have the team play together over the summer there are parents that complain the coach doesn't do enough. Then you have high school coaches that have the kids do one or two tournaments over the summer and you have parents complain they do too much.

The one's that complain he doesn't do enough are the ones who have kids taking it seriously, have a chance to play at the next level and want to be seen over the summer. The one's that complain on the other end of the spectrum don't really care, know their kids aren't going to play so they are along for the ride. The crap part like another poster said is you have coaches who only take their best and most serious players who want the exposure and the chance to play against the best and then you have the Northport coach who takes kids who either have no interest in college ball or are not at that level and like another posted stated, plays them equally because they paid against select state teams. He will start his best players the 1st half and then the 2nd half, it all falls apart. Either way his fee's are paid, hi hotel is covered and what does he care. I think its funny when a high school coach doesn't have the team play together over the summer there are parents that complain the coach doesn't do enough. Then you have high school coaches that have the kids do one or two tournaments over the summer and you have parents complain they do too much.

Good point and in that case, the starting and effective role players should attend since it is not a school event because those 2 events I mentioned are set up only for the HS teams so there is certainly a platform for them. And most of these events when you see college coaches, that means they are being compensated so they are forced to watch but not every college in attendance is being paid in which those coaches will be more inclined to leave like you said. Lastly, the reason why I agreed with the one poster who said the HS teams should attend 2-3 tournaments is because of everything we are talking about...this will allow the serious players to play on a club team and get exposure that way...

Both those events are filled with high school teams from all over the country and yes they are great, but these teams come to play hard and win. They aren't doing equal playing time for non-serious players. They bring their varsity players. So if your kid is say the starting goalie going up against a top ranked private high school and at some point he is out there with 3rd stringers, how does that help him when he is getting shots taken on him from the crease and getting lit up? That aside the point about being able to then go play club, not everyone has the ability from a financial perspective to play for some of the club teams. That is what these showcases geared towards high school teams then are supposed to benefit and supplement. The single parent who also has other kids in college might not be able to afford all the trips and the steep fee's involved with the club teams. It is unfortunate that this isn't taken enough into accord. Just because your kid is not on club doesn't mean they aren't good enough to be. I hear your points and they are all valid, and some true. A player not on a club team doesn't mean they are not good so I hope you don't think that was what I was referring to. Maybe the coach should tell the tournament directors of the teams merit and match them up accordingly. But like you mentioned, there are also great showcases to attend and that would be my suggestion if your sons HS team isn't that strong and one thing I always recommend to my players is to attend prospect camps too so there are a lot of options....Im getting off topic but wanted to give my two cents. Both those events are filled with high school teams from all over the country and yes they are great, but these teams come to play hard and win.
