Nick and vin Savastano are going to pick up an insane amount of quality kids this year. Express north is a disaster, no matter what Schreiber says, Playing on a B team when the AA team is a B team as far as lacrosse concerned is not the way to go. You will always be an afterthought to the most dis organized lax director around. Go to Warriors, predators or 91 TS. And get the coaching and attention you deserve for your money Schreiber is a lot of things. Organized is not one of them. Loud, crass, controlling egomaniac. Not organized. Are people attracted to the Express name? New coaches seem to be introduced each season, not sure if they are old cronies of his, new Prep affiliations or what. Some coaches show up to one or two tournaments. Stick with the programs that have coaches who are dedicated to the players. Present, committed to their success, caring.

This response is simply not true. Strong clubs like Express North and Primetime are the primary influencers in the recruiting process. Of course it all starts with the kids but the clubs in many cases have been working with the kids for years before high school.

Schreiber may not be the right coach for every kid but to suggest he doesn't care about the kids is simple not true. If you ever get a chance to talk to some of the 2018 parents they can give you a good read.

Lets stop with the horse [lacrosse] that Schreiber committed kids......the kids committed themselves, along with their parents and HS coaches. He trys to sell that BS to unknowing parents like a snake oil salesman. Committed means nothing more then going to college, he trys to make it sound like they have scholarships which isn't the case, they are verbals which really mean nothing until they get the right SAT/ACT scores and a good GPA. 95+% of those kids would have gotten into those schools from any other program. Stop drinking the Kool Aid...... While it's true that the talent of the players is ultimately what gets them into a college I think that you are down playing the role of the coach or club director. You need to be on a competitive team that attends competitive tournaments and with a coach/director who has the right connections to get the colleges interested and help facilitate the commitments of their players. There are 3 players from a CT town who played for a club team in the area but were not happy so they all moved together to Express North. Within a year of joining their competitive team with a connected coach/director they were all committed. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Bottom line is all these club team directors think they are the ones getting the kids into college. This is a slap in the face to the head coaches of teams like yorktown, bronxville, new cannan etc.
Botton line if you are that good you will get to the big college. These club directors pray on the people chasing the dream and then when 90% don't make it they steer them to div. 3

That may be true. But programs like express, pt, eclipse etc provide a forum for the best kids to compete together in front of college coaches . It is no different than taking AP classes in high school. Not every kid gets into an Ivy League school, but it brings the brightest kids together and hopefully they feed off each other. Iron sharpens iron, man sharpens man. Of course if you are Paul Rabil, it doesn't matter where you play, but college coaches can only get to so many tourneys, watch so many high light videos. And quite frankly not so sure they care to watch highlight videos of 2 b teams playing each other in the middle of June when they can watch 91 Long Island play some powerhouse from Baltimore. On the other side of this. If you take a good lax player, maybe he is middle to lower level D1. And that kid can use lacrosse to get into a nesc ac school, that is a home run. I would take bowdoin, middlebury, tufts, Amherst over many many d1 schools from an academic perspective. Leveraging athletics to give you an edge into a quality institution is still a Win.

A lot of these kids were done before they had even hit a varsity field so HS coach had little input / influence.

A lot of these kids were done before they had even hit a varsity field so HS coach had little input / influence. This is true & completely negates the blanket statements above. There are rule changes this year- yes. But your blanket varsity coach statement is moot. A kid playing competitive club ball is getting much more frequency exposure to college coaches than just through his HS varsity coach. Tournaments with club teams are a much more cost efficient way for college coaches to see their prospects from different hometowns.

If that's case you are hoping some of the selected kids decline the invite and stay with their former team or others that he tried out for.

Anyone get a fall Westport Express schedule yet? Ha! Those will not come out for quite a while. . . . You need to have a committed team before you can have a practice schedule.

Expecting quite a scene at SUNY Purchase this weekend between Preds and 91TS tryouts. Good luck to all the boys trying out! It will be interesting if a lot of familiar faces from Express and PT tryouts attend. I'm predicting Preds will have the most attendees in the area of any club tryouts. I bet they could get close to 100 each for 5th-7th grades.

Im curious why these tryouts are so late. Both are good programs that would seem to benefit from having earlier tryout dates that better synch up with PT eclipse Ex north

Any idea how the Express North teams are shaping up? Was the 2023 team good this past summer and was there any turnover? How do they compare to Prime Time and Eclipse?

Pt 2023 is the best of the 23,s locally. Based on scores. Eclipse is best 24 last year. Followed by PT. Pt 22 the best of the 3 and not sure after that

Express north lost to PT twice this summer, it was 15-1 or something the last time. PT picked up at least one attackman at tryouts from express north. Eclipse didn't do that well either against PT. Not sure how they can carry 2 2023 teams and one just for Denver.

Bc since you're comparing PT to all the local clubs- I distinctly recall a 2020 Preds win against PT this summer.
