CSH just won the triple crown and some people are taking about workout times. They are a great team that beat everybody on their schedule (58 -2 over the last three years with 3 straight NYS championships) . Congrats from a town to your west.

Didn't Jamesville Dewitt beat Victor this year?

And three village in-bred DAD from Ward Melville High School claiming the multiple State titles as "his" while putting CSH down is a moron. How many of those are you responsible for??? And putting down a team that just won; you are the definition of a loser. Congrats to your son and his team on winning, despite you.

Hypothetical....

How about a Fatal Four Way?

LI Class A Champ - Ward Melville (20-2 Losses to Cham & Sudbury)
LI Class B Champ - Garden City (16-4 Losses to SYO, Ignatious, Manhasset, Yorktown)
LI Class C Champ - CSH (Undefeated)
Cath AAA Champ - Chaminade (11-4 Losses to Mcdonogh Ignatious, Manhasset, Delbarton)

Many common opponents among these teams but only 1 direct game between these 4.

Final four style (no seeds needed) .... How would it all shake out?

National Lacrosse tournament at Ward Melville HS.

There are some very good teams there, why no area Catholic schools (Chaminade St Anthony's and Kellenberg would add to this). Would have been nice to have SWR CSH as well.

Ok so the season is over. What do you do if your H.S. coach is just bad. Does nothing for player development. Does not do any summer tournaments. Does not have off season workout schedule or plan. Acts like a child on sideline. Does nothing to develop players during and out of season. Does not instill a sense of trust. Says one thing and does another. Despite all these short comings team still does well.

Look at the successful programs. They play together as much as they can. There is a seamless transition from JV to Varsity. Off season is just as important as in season. There is a sense of purpose a sense of pride in the program. The youth and middle school, are an extension of the high school program. The coaches, varsity and j.v. are involved in the team and it's play all season long. Alumni are very involved and even coach the program at all levels.

You beat SW by 1
Southside by 1, they lost 7 games.
Syo put up 12 goals on you. next you have to play WM. Pequa, GC.

catholic and C(Population Teams) have a hard time having a large enough roster to enter theses high school only deals.

most Catholic school kids if serious are on one of the club teams(Express), and the C programs don't have the necessary 16/18 kids week after week to play.

IMHO.

Most C programs kids who are serious are also on club teams. And if your HS coach is affiliated with a club team, then he might push his HS players towards that club, and they might make up a decent proportion of that club team.

Agreed. Same uncontrollable situation with several HS programs with only 1 or 2 legitimate D1 players that are hidden due to being on bad HS teams. Plenty of them on LI & NJ that are forgotten.

The coach sucks. He has talented players so team does well despite him being such a bad coach. I am not saying be has the best players but more than a handfull of very good and good players. They will never beat teams that are as talented or even closely talented to them because he horrible.

From what I interpreted is the team does well even though he is a bad coach. Probably would do better if they had a better coach.

Join a solid travel team. They develop athletes year round. Take you to showcases and have a solid recruiting record. I'll bet half your team belong to a Club and have a travel coach with extensive lacrosse credentials. That's why the team will always do well despite the coach. Although he will never admit!

To original poster: CSH just won their third State Title in a row. They do nothing all off season as a team. All the best players play on the best travel team they can find. That's how kids get better. You play with the best kids you can find and play against the best competition. That how it works. Very few teams make the in house program work, maybe WM and WI, that's it. It creates way too many problems. Way too many hands in the till. Pay to play. Too many Coaches then start to threaten kids and make them play with the town. It's awful. Living through it now. Trust me, you don't want any part of this crap.

I do agree with the in house stuff becoming a nightmare. Yet shouldn't a Varsity coach be involved or have a plan for JV and maybe even middle school. Isn't the point to have a cohesiveness throughout all school related programs. The programs that have the best youth PAL and maybe even a travel program that they are affiliated with to help their players develop in the off-season is vital to a high school teams success. If their is not a good coach at the helm regardless of how good they are or what great club team they play on you need direction (plays to execute, video to watch and scout opponents, substitute at the right time, calling time outs at the right time, running practices that emphasize execution and intensity.) If you don't have a coach that has a vision and a direction for a program it is horrible. Can't have the kids running the show.

CSH had a run and season for the ages. They also had some of the top players in its senior class. I think next year is going to be a lot different. Won't have the horses they had this year.

I would think the Catholic players would love to play summer with their school teams. or like you said if the player is serious, and you're a state contender it's not about recruiting anymore, it now about being the best team in the state or country. and if any of them are worried about recruiting (or coaching changes), I am sure the ole adage if you build it they will come would yield positive results.

No team wins the championship every year but CSH has been very successful. As the post above points out "All the best players play on the best travel team they can find. That's how kids get better. You play with the best kids you can find and play against the best competition."

There were two counties, four grades, four teams per grade and 20 kids per team or about 320 kids participating last night, so to think that there would be no politics involved is naive or to think that every pick would be perfect is silly but on the other hand to think that any parent watching and pulling for his own kid could possibly be impartial and qualified to determine who should and who should not make the team is also silly.

From your post I do not know what county or age you are referring to, but I think this is an unbelievable event that these HS coaches have created and given an unbelievable opportunity for so many kids to be exposed to so many college coaches and the kids that made the final 40 should all be congratulated. And all the coaches who spend so much time putting this event together should be thanked.

Total scam. After first tryouts numbers were posted. After last tryout there were 9 numbers that were selected that weren't on first cut list. How come they allow kids to not show up to first tryouts get the nod for top 20. Yes some where in playoffs but that shouldn't matter. Team was pretty much selected before tryouts even started.

All player on teams still in the playoffs are automatically passed through to the second round - chances are that a lot of very good players were on the 8 teams in the LIC that got passes.

Could be the apathetic game of the year, it is not about winning it is about being scene by college coaches - Many 2018's are committed and I would guess some committed kids did not try out - hopefully all the non-committed 2018's from both counties have a good showing in front of the college coaches, that is what this is really all about.

the only way to fix this is to have evaluators who don't know the boys and can give an honest assessment. Of course there are politics involved but that doesn't mean we have to sit back and let it continue

Scam maybe...but there was 40-50 college coaches watching 2019's and my son play and no ne didn't make the final team. Good exposure and lots of talent everywhere...

they should have the Suffolk coaches evaluate the Nassau kids and vice versa. Make it truly by the pinnie number, not the name or the helmet.
