A few 2009s is fine. But when you have 2008s you are skirting the line. The reason these kids play down is primarily because they can’t cut it with kids their own age. Older, faster, stronger players in any sport will always have the advantage. The fact is 2way leading edge and 3D NE have more than what could be considered a fair amount of these players. Which makes it difficult for teams with a core of 2010 players to compete. Is it cheating, depends who you ask. If you are on the 2010 based team you should see it as a good opportunity for your kid to compete against bigger and stronger kids. It will help them in the long run. If you are worried about wins and loses, you are essentially screwed. The outcome of these games are irrelevant at this point. Teams in the top 25 have established themselves and in a few years will still be the teams in the discussion with college coaches. Visibility is a guarantee. So parents should care a little less about age and see the value in their child getting better. It will only help them in 2 years when it will actually matter. 91 MD got smoked by 91 Shock last year. It didn’t matter because they all got recruited. Wins don’t mean anything. Venom 1-2 with a loss to cross town rival LIE means nothing. Enjoy your son and shake an opposing parents hand when the game is over.
