They are worth attending if you have vetted the interest level in your son. Has your club coach spoken with the coaching staff? Are they truly interested? If yes, then definitely attend. Otherwise, you are taking a complete flyer... Which is fine, if it's a dream school and your trying to get on their radar. If not, then you're just supporting the program with your $175 donation.
