You people really complain that on a competitive travel lacrosse team that plays all kids in 95% of the games but competes to win in a championship game at a tournament that has playoffs. REALLY? You need to be honest with yourselves because your ridiculous and you know it. Correct, play to win in championship format tournaments. Very few championship formats in recruiting year classes, mostly showcases. Showcases, balanced play time. Don't like it, go to a club where your kid is an alpha dog. Not even open for debate. OF COURSE you play to win in the championship game (and in this case a 20 minute game) I also agree that MOST of the games "9 out of 10" they play even time. Are we really even discussing this? Your a complete tool bag, coming from a parent of a YJ D1 recruit. Not a single college coach from D1 to D3 cares who the [lacrosse] won a tournament let alone a fall tournament. Your a moron its about exposure as they get older. All should have played it didn't have to be equal playing time but all should have played. You sound like an idiot when you say father of a D1 recruit, again can really see both sides of the issue especially in a 20 minute running time playoff game. To say they don't care who wins a tournament is not exactly true, they will watch the very top teams earlier and more often than the lesser teams so winning does matter. My guess is you do not have a D1 kid as this sounds too personal to you and if you had a d1 recruit you would realize its no big deal and would stop posting that. You obviously have no Idea what your talking about, I am also a father of a D! recruit from a different club and I can tell all you parents that think if you don't play for Y.J. you have no chance of getting your daughter to the next level, your completely wrong. Not one college coach cares who won any tournament ever. If your kid is good, coaches will come to see her no matter what pinnie she puts on her back. I am the father that keeps preaching on this site about the virtue of camps over tournament ball anyway. Club teams are only a piece of the puzzle that is equal to, but not greater than attending college summer camps. stay realistic and know where your kid should play, not everyone goes to U.N.C. , Monmouth is a good school too, keep your options open. Forget about Y.J. jones or Curico, if your kid will get more time at Liberty or Wave than go play there and be on the field. Thank you, that was my point well said sir/madam winning means nothing to college coaches when looking at a potential recruit.

Talk about having no idea what your talking about , you come into the YJ post so you can rant about how useless playing travel lax is . No one cares about your idiotic opinion especially when you equate Monmouth with UNC . I have seen 50 plus coaches on the sideline of individual summer lax games . Your kid went to camps where the competition level is generally very low and act as if that's money well spent . ??? What are you talking about? Someone's hitting the bottle tonight!

Isn't the point that if they chose a kid for blue then the girl can hang and should play? Shouldn't the coaches be instructed to do that? We didn't ask for blue CR put us on Blue So roster spots #17-#25 are just cash cows? It is a fall tournament for 6th and 7th graders!

If you think that the top team in any organization is equal from top to bottom you are mistaken . I get it , not fun when your kid does not play , that being said I do not see the issue if playing time is not equal in any single game as long as it's relatively equal during the whole tournament .

What an [lacrosse] is dead on! If you anything about YJ2020 Curcio you would know that she preaches team, team, team. That's why this is an issue in the past she has not allowed her team to participate in winter leagues, outside tournaments etc. unless the ENTIRE TEAM was involved. She has also played every child in every game it may not have been equal playing time but ALL have played. On a rare occasion 1-2 may not played in a particular game (20 min) possibly an oversight or just got caught up in the game (of which I don't agree with either). This game in question 12 started and that was it not a single player on the bench got in the game for a single second and they lost they game anyway. Again I don't think anyone was asking for equal playing time but all should have played. You can't have your cake and eat it to. Curcio dropped the ball on this one.

These fall tournaments are not and should not be about winning or losing, its about keeping a stick in their hand. You have to remember these were not the "original" rostered teams, these were girls who really wanted to play. A lot of these coaches got it wrong that weekend and it wasn't just at 2020 level either, this happened in 2019 and 2018, girls got minimal playing time in FULL games. These are children and these coaches need to remember that. Winning isn't always the answer. How about building confidence, having fun, meeting and playing with girls from other teams. That is what builds spirit as a team and as an organization.

With all this chatter about Daddy coaches, there was talk this weekend at the tourneys about a new Daddy coach taking over the 4th 2019 team. Apparently he is a good friend of one of the blue team coach’s. It’s good to see the FAF group growing. Heard he's suppose to assist. Will have to wait and see. Wonder if anyone in the YJ organization realizes his kid is rostered on the TG's. A double dipper!!! It sounds like he might be trying to pull a fast one on the queen bee. Maybe a TG infiltraitor. Parents of that team won't be to happy when they find out. Should be a fun summer for the 4th team. They know and if he is coaching, there will be no 4th team! If this guy is a legit coach, then whats the problem? Coach is assisting a college coach on team 4 and daughter is dumping TG! Assisting in what way, getting her coffee? Is he on the same level as the assist coach from the other three teams or just another member of the FF group.

I don't get why playing to win is accepted in every other sport . Youth football, little league baseball, travel baseball, travel soccer, travel bball, no chance it's equal playing time and for the most part it is not expected to be . Why in girls lacrosse do you expect equal playing time .if it's a championship tournament you should expect to play to win. In a game that is not a one goal game it's a lot easier to get kids in but in those tight games playing time will not be equal. If it's not something you are willing to accept then you need to consider , moving to a team your child will get more playing time , either YJ or another group. The other thing is to those people whose kid gets the aying time you need to realize it may not always be your kid .

I don’t see a guy’s name as one of the coaches for this team. Cook is a great coach, if she could spend a little bit more time with these kids I think they’ll get better. Not sure why she would want a Daddy coach helping her out. She’s better off with a college kid or two by her side, not some guy who wants to make sure his kid gets special treatment. Tell Daddy to step aside and let someone with experience help out. Does the assist coach have to pay for his kid to play YJ and is his hotel paid for like the coach?

Your the kind of lunk headed parent, too ignorant to accept the experiences of others that have just finished the process before you, and for that I feel bad for your kid. In my experience on these threads I have come to realize that very rarely is it the parents of the top tier kids that come here sounding like you, calling people names and spouting off on how much better your team is than every other in lacrosse. So maybe instead of calling us names you should get off the computer and grab a stick and do something other than bragging and calling others names and help your kid. Some of us come on here to help others with what we have learned, you may not agree, and that is fine , but until you have achieved the goal, your opinion means nothing. By the way, coaches like when you attend there camps, even if the "competition level is generally very low " to see how coachable your daughter is, how well she gets along with the other girls that are both campers and on the team, and if she is a leader (i.e. willing to help the girls you consider as lower competition ) you obviously don't know this because 1. you have never been through the process before, and 2. those 50 coaches you see on the sideline have no interest in your daughter because if they did you would have received a request by one of them to attend either a camp or clinic run by them. To your daughter all I can say is , good luck kid with a parent like that you're going to need it

If you want equal playing time go play for another club that doesn't teach their kids to be winners. You don't learn how to win by "playing everyone". Those who don't play should know they are there to fill the roster, and will get better by being around the real players on their team. They can then go back to their school team and play more. So even though they are not playing much with their JY teams, they can play more with their HS teams. It's not fair that my daughter needs to slow her progress because lesser players want their less skilled kids to play equally. Just be happy you get to practice with girls at this level. Observe and you will see what it takes, then go do it.
We all know who the cry-baby parents are, and that's why we stay away from you.

Even in your moronic response you talk about college coaches inviting kids to their camps after seeing them play summer ball, yet you preach that summer ball is a waste of time. I will make it easy for you , going to camps you are limiting the exposure opportunities for your kid and have seen that backfire more often than not. Many kids have attended the same camp over and over and have not been offered anything, play a showcase tournament on a club with a good reputation and your kid will be seen playing by hundreds of different schools. Obviously your kid settled for some expensive sub par private school as your dislike for UNC makes it obvious. By the way over 90 % of the kids on the Monmouth roster played summer ball, so easy...

It is a free country, so you and your child can choose a different strategy. Please stop the name calling, though. Thanks.

Who is this Dad? Does he have any real experience? Are you still crying about this dad who is helping a team out? Don't know anything about your team or this guy but you are lucky to have people helping out with the coaching. Do you really expect to entice top quality coaches to a forth team? Sounds as if the quality of this coach is right on par with the quality of the team and the players on the team. Sounds more like you must have a personal problem with this arrangement.

She is perhaps moved one team up because of some political connection. In the case you are referring to...what the [lacrosse] are you even talking about? If friends and family connections landed him and his daughter on the forth team, they need to get new friends and family.

With all this chatter about Daddy coaches, there was talk this weekend at the tourneys about a new Daddy coach taking over the 4th 2019 team. Apparently he is a good friend of one of the blue team coach’s. It’s good to see the FAF group growing. When talking about friends and family and the corrupt politics in lacrosse, most people envision a kid on the blue team struggling but hanging on. She is perhaps moved one team up because of some political connection. In the case you are referring to...what the [lacrosse] are you even talking about? If friends and family connections landed him and his daughter on the forth team, they need to get new friends and family. Coaches Highly qualified Professional staff. Comprised of HS Coaches, Collegiate players, World Cup players, All-Americans. I think maybe this is the problem many have with the "daddy" coaches or at least it would be one of mine...I'm not paying all this money for what I can get at home. Most are looking for a step above, and why would any coach care which tier they are coaching...unless they aren't paid they same?

Why stop there? it also says the "Yellow Jackets are a "SELECT LACROSSE CLUB" looking for the BEST players from Long Island!! which strongly implies player cuts. The yellow jackets cut probably less than 5% of all kids, they just keep making additional teams

The Yellow Jackets still have much better coaching as a whole than any other club on Long Island and would stack their coaches up against any on a national level. As far as Elite players , there is no comparison with any other club on Long Island. TG still 2nd best but the gap has gotten worse. There is not one age group that a reasonable argument can be made that TG top team beats YJ top team. Its comical how the Select makes you so angry.Smart move by TG taking their coaches bios down from the web site, those things were an embarrassment.

I would beg to differ. Although I'm not affiliated with or have a daughter playing with Legacy, I like the philosophy. Every coach is not only a former player but is also trained as an educator. All have, or have had, teaching and / or high school coaching roles. When you are dealing with young women it is just and important, if not more so, to understand how they learn and to be able to recognize different maturity levels. Not every kids learns the same way. Anyone who knows the game or has access to Youtube can run drills and yell instructions from the sidelines. That surely doesn't qualify them to teach my daughters.

WAKE UP .........two things 1 Really a teacher makes a better coach? Well I am not sure what school your daughter plays for BUT... you will see.
2 Sounds like a social thing , You are paying for someone to teach your daughter how to play the game and make her a better player. My daughter had a retired fireman who could teach the game had a few girls of his own. My daughter and teammates had a good time and became better players, he could teach the game better than most high school coaches today! Teacher or not!

You are comparing a program that has been around for 5 years to a program that has been around for a lot longer. TG can not compare to YJ but they haven't done badly for the short time they have been around. Their coaching can not compare to YJ but again, they are new. Good coaching has to start somewhere. Not everyone is born with coaching experience. The "select"term is funny if you have 5 teams for every age group. How select are you really being?

Retired and a father, okay I might give you that. But not a 22 year old ex player who's life experience is rushing a sorority, parting and then moving back in with mommy and daddy after her lacrosse career is over.
