Check out the 3D rising sophomore rankings. They give birth dates. Very interesting. Remember that on LI the cutoff is early December so kids shouldn't be 16 until then. Some of the kids listed are already 16 Colin munro is a holdback! Wow #rich daddy #cheater Not a shocker for those of us in Fla a couple of years ago at a 3D/Jake Reed event. Munro told all of us in a seminar to leave our kids back. Isn't that swell of him to spend $50k of somebody else's money for a holdback year. Wow, that is just terrible! Lost all respect for 3D. I guess he had no faith in his son and decided to manipulate the system. Whatever it takes! Sad! Daddy is also a former D1 coach (University of Denver before Tiernny) so I guess coaches are fine with it if its good for them

Didn't see 2 smithtown east turtles on list at all! I think the question was asked are all the Turtles MENTIONED in the top 25 and/or watch list. Someone reported back that all the Turtles MENTIONED in a previous post were in the top 25...I ran this past O to confirm but he was golfing. Where is this list to be found? In the posters head lol The list can be found on IL's most recent issue in the article listing their "Top 25 Young Gun Sophomores." By my count 5 of the 25 were Turtles (past or present). Additionally, 3 Turtles made the additional "watch list." Pretty impressive. I could not find the list on the IL website - could someone post a link? Thanks

You need to have a subscription or purchase one issue in order to get access to the current issue and listings at present.

Wow! 5 of the top 10 on 3D list are already 16 - can't hack it in their own age group, sons of cheating parents. no doubt these kids are good players, but in all fairness the attention and opportunities they have received comes with sneaky advantage their parents bought for them. sad thing is that they very likely would have earned the attention of coaches had they stayed in their appropriate age group, but instead parents allow them to succeed at the expense of someone else. anyone ever think the the offers these kids get could rightfully go to a similarly talented player of appropriate age. congrats mom and dad, you helped steal some 14-15 year boys scholarship opportunity. take from a hard working, skilled, dedicated, talented boy who does not cheat...shameful!

It's only going to keep getting worse. Look at the Edge Canada team website. They advertise that their 2017 team is for top '98 born players. At least Munro went through the trouble of reclassifying, these guys are taking a whole team and dropping them down for tournaments, regardless of what grade they are in. It's becoming a joke, there are kids on those lists that are in grade 11 right now.

Daddy is also a former D1 coach (University of Denver before Tiernny) so I guess coaches are fine with it if its good for them Coaches don't care. Why should they? In fact, some might encourage it. If a kid is undersized or if a recruiting class is full, they might suggest a PG year. It's not against the rules (doubt it will ever be) and they want to put together the best team possible to win games and secure their positions. It's a business and livelihood. Just ask them. PG has been the traditional route, but with recruiting getting younger the reclass conversation is now in the mix. Its everywhere. Just stand on the sidelines of a showcase or recruiting tournament and there's a good chance the topic will come up. Maryland, Philly have led the way, but it's happening on LI now too. I have a family member who works at a LI private school (not Catholic) and they are seeing an increase in reclass interest. Here's the typical scenario; kid is at an elementary school, usually public, to eighth grade, they enroll in a private school repeating eighth grade with the goal of entering high school a year older for athletic reasons primarily, but it may help academically as well. Some target Chaminade, but others go public if they like their school district. Bottom line, do what works best for your kid and family. The cream rises to the top. Work hard on game and academics and good things will follow.

You don't get it. The great lax schools don't want young freshman. Period. They take up space. Why wouldnt a coach want a full team of players instead of a developing freshman class. Don't blame the parents. Blame the system. It is what it is. And btw, these so called holdbacks were most likely talented (no matter what their age) enough to get college coaches attention.

Yes, it has and this is not new. Maybe lacrosse used to the niche sport where coaches went to the hotbeds areas to recruit players. It was easy. But the college landscape has changed and not just lacrosse. With common app came exponentially more college applications which created higher competition. Being recruited was a sure way for entrance into these elite schools. Also Lacrosse is no longer just a spring sport, it's year round. ICollege has fall ball, spring season and summer playing in tournaments. It is a full time job. and trust me when I say only the best and brightest student athletes survive. As a result of the growth of the sport, college coaches just don't have to wait for a player to mature. They just don't. Don't shoot the messenger but it is what it is. Stop blaming whomever and whatever and support you're child and his dreams. Most importantly are grades. Coaches notice this first and foremost. Regardless of talent if your kid has a 99 average coaches will notice IMMEDIATELY. CANT BLAME THAT ON ANYONE? Or do you blame all the kids that do have that with cheating because they have tutors and put academics first? If there is something to help you're child then do it. If his age is an issue then do something about it. There are options. But for the love of god, stop crying.

In the real money sports like basketball, football, and baseball when kids reclassify they somehow enter the next grade up so that they can get out of high school earlier. The #1 basketball player in the class of 2016 just did it and it's happening a lot now.

Amen. People have to stop complaining about reclassified kids. There are plenty of reclassified kids on both those lists of top 2017's. Most college coaches preferred to take reclassified kids. Munro runs a very successful enterprise. He is not being hypocritical he will tell you to do the same thing that he did with his son. And it makes no difference because once they get the college they will be mixed with older kids who did postgraduate years red shirts etc. and you're either going to have to perform or you're going to have to sit on the bench. So in the Long run it really doesn't matter . Life is not fair. Some people look for advantages. You also notice that every guy who runs a lacrosse enterprise of one sort or another always manages to put their sons in great spots. That's just the way it is. Some people have businesses they can hand off to their children some people have great jobs that can allow them to place there's kids in great jobs. Other people have to do things the hard way. This is been going on since the beginning of time you have to stop complaining about it and move on

What if you can't afford to hold your kid back ?? Grow the sport, go into the poor towns and give the kids equipment and training. Then hold your kid back so these other kids have even more of an disadvantage than before. HYPOCRITES!!! NOT ETHICAL!!

Ty Xanders and 3D list. Not much consistency between the two. Sure, there are a handful of players on both list ranked similar but for the most part it is really two different list. Has to be a better system because this looks like coaches calling in favors. Been going on for years tho. Good times!

Do you think 3D/RD is reliable? They both have puppet masters behind the scences, so obvoius and really bad the way its handled. These guys aren't evaluating these kids. They get the top 4-6 correct the rest is a political pit. The sport is worse every year, from the holdbacks, no DOB needed for anything, the slime style of rankings & the mass amount of $$$ we all spend. Ugly stuff.

Yes you are missing something, it's 14 out of the top 25+ the watch list . The majority from one team. You figure it out. Do you really think IL list is reliable. Confused between the two list. Ty Xanders and 3D list. Not much consistency between the two. Sure, there are a handful of players on both list ranked similar but for the most part it is really two different list. Has to be a better system because this looks like coaches calling in favors. Been going on for years tho. Good times! These lists really do prove out that IL has a regional bias to Baltimore, the DC metro, Philly main line and certain club programs in LI. 3d has a significant bias to, well...3d. These are bespoke lists. Let me wonder this out loud: would Ty Xanders consider a kid who did not send in a video and also have a club and high school coach pimp it on top of? I doubt it. I am a Maryland parent and saw a good many kids from California at summer tournaments, including one local 3d Cali team that mopped the floor with Team 91. None of their players are mentioned. The 3d Cali team had a better player at each position than Team 91 save for righty attack. And I don't think Team 91 is bad, just saying when all the local biases are out we are seeing quality elsewhere that gets no IL love. This is not stating that LI kids, especially that awesome Turtles team, do not deserve their kudos. I think Ty Xanders lives with his mom and stalks MIAA freshmen in the parking lots of schools. Pedophile category stuff.

If you compare the lists not sure you can say 3-D's list was very bias. Considering they have only 3 of their players mentioned on the 3D top 30.That's hardly a bias. 3d has at least 10, 2017 teams scattered in many different states. They saw everyone play. Seems like Ty Xanders is much more limited in which players he sees

Not a Turtle dad, but let's face it...these two lists should have more in common than they do if the ratings are legit. Ty Xanders basically has a boy band crush on the Turtles team, and likes to kiss some Caputo butt second after that. He really thinks an MIAA kid from his alma mater is the best HS goalie since [fill in blank of last MIAA goalie who made college All-America], and he may or may not live in Ryan McClernan's basement in exchange for pumping the tires of Crabs kids. Turtles are great, Team 91 has some good players. Some of the 3d regional select teams have a few decent players, but most do not. I think the post just acknowledges that there are great LI players, but that IL and 3d both seem to be paid for PR firms for some stakeholders in the club lacrosse world. If D1 coaches rely on this, they are idiots. Coaches in every other NCAA sport can actually recruit by watching and ranking kids rather than have the tradesmen selling camps, clinics, showcases, tournaments and recruiting services telling them whose lax dad credit cards are the best. This is why Loyola and Cuse can win NCAAs every year with kids they scoop in as rising or current juniors. Cuse is not full because they can't get kids, let's be at least that honest. And correct me if the pre-pubes poster child UNC has won something in the last 20+ years I am not aware of.

Has anyone's son had the misfortune of receiving the "Jake Reed" classless rejection letter? "We are NOT extending an invite to our showcase camp" :|
Really Jake??? Is that the best word smithing you can come up with for $75 PER APPLICATION FEE... I'm guessing his editing staff doesn't have a 14 year old at home.
I hope that the lacrosse community wises up to total exploitation by Jake.

Okay we just got a Showtime invite and my kid just verbally committed but has not taken an ACT or SAT, he is a good student but he is going to a program that requires good scores. As with all early commitments if the coach leaves he could be SOL. Do we spend the money on Showtime? I am leaning towards "yes". This early commit thing is a double edged sword. I wouldn't send him to any other showcase events.

Jamie used the money he made off his organization to hold his own kid back. Total loser! My son never went and is top ranked. Stay away. Showtime is a much better option, classy!
