As you will also note, the Long Island Express has opted to play in this league this year which as BOTC indicated last year is the first clear sign of elite clubs looking for competition outside of the typical tournament format.
The games are scheduled from early April through Memorial Day, very similar to the Spring schedules one might expect to see from Premier or top regional soccer teams in their well established regional leagues.
The league caters for AA and A level teams.
Among the participants from the 2011 were the Arden Attackers, Breakers, Cannons, Club Blue, BLC Crabs, Fearless, Hawks, MadLax, Next Level, General, Looney's, Chesapeake Rock, Hotstix, SP Lax, and Zingos Lacrosse.

The following are the general guidelines regarding the administation of the NPYLL games.
Administration of NPYLL Roster sizes will be limited to 25 players. Your roster can have up to 5 players added and subtracted, up to the 3rd game of the season.
Season will be 7 games with top 4 teams playing for league championship.
NPYLL will provide awards for the league champion.
We are following NCAA Rules.
Rosters may be checked each game by opposing team.
Illegal players can not be used for games. Fist time offense, forfeit the game, second time forfeit the season.
Refs: Home team coordinates refs, both teams pay at game time.
All players must be members of US Lacrosse.

using U-13 ages as an example boys born: Sept 1 1998 - Aug 31 1999 - are generally in 7th grade Sept 1 1999 - Aug 31 2000 - are generally in 6th grade
The info states this is a 5th/6th grade division. Is this a typo?
Or are the organizers of an elite program encouraging parents to hold their children back in school for the puposes of lacrosse development? The table of U/years to graduation year to birth dates (based on your school's cut off dates) follow. In New [lacrosse], the cut off dates cane be anywhere from August to December on grade years which is why that is always a dangerous figure to be using. U/Age .. Grad ... Birth ..... Grade U/18 ... 2012 ... 1993/94 ... 12 U/17 ... 2013 ... 1994/95 ... 11 U/16 ... 2014 ... 1995/96 ... 10 U/15 ... 2015 ... 1996/97 ... 9 U/14 ... 2016 ... 1997/98 ... 8 U/13 ... 2017 ... 1998/99 ... 7 U/12 ... 2018 ... 1999/00 ... 6 U/11 ... 2019 ... 2000/01 ... 5 U/10 ... 2020 ... 2001/02 ... 4

where are these games played Discussions indicate that there might be double-headers played if the games are in the Maryland area. Notice that the league is trying to attract some teams in the Philadelphia area. If New Jersey and Pennsylvania can be brought into the league, you will then have a "northern" axis which makes the league signficantly more interesting regionally. Keep your eyes on this developing story as it has the possibility to improve te competition landscape.

Age Updates for 2012 U-15 League - Birthdates Sept 1 1996 - Aug 31 1998 (generally 7th & 8th grade boys) U-13 League - Birthdates Sept 1 1998 - Aug 31 2000 (generally 5th & 6th grade boys) U-11 League - Birthdates Sept 1 2000 - Aug 31 2002 (generally 3rd & 4th grade boys) U-9 League - Birthdates Sept 1 2002 - Aug 31 2004 (generally 1st & 2nd grade boys)
If anyone every disputes the way Maryland holds their kids back, here is all the proof you need. U-13 5th and 6th grade??? It doesn't matter as its an age based league but really shows their thinking and unfortunate impact on this problem.

Keep in mind the school cut off in Maryland is Aug 31 or Sept 1. Where in NY its Dec 1.
It should be all about Grades, thats who the kids will compete with in High School and for College spots.

You can let them compete against each other at the grade level when they get to HS, recruiting camps and tournaments. These age/ grade make no sense no matter what state you are from.

Rather than spending more time on the grade grouping (which is clearly in error), let's get back to the formation of the league in the "northern" states and more club participation.

The Baltimore teams do encourage hold backs. Especially the blc crabs. He is one of the founders of the npyll so he makes sure the dates work. It makes him look like a lax guru when he has teams stacked with boys one and two years older than most. How many boys on his team could be in the grade above? All done to get in schools by parents he exploits as the wizard. Just look at his golden boy stanwick he was almost 20 when graduating high school.

Assuming you are talking about Steele and not a brother - according to wikipedia he was born 9/12/89 and graduated HS in 2007 at the age of 18 and college in 2011 at the age of 22 - although apparently his nickname in college was grandpa but that was because he walked like an old man not because his club team held him back.

Yes thats his birthday but he graduated in the spring of 2008. Assuming he graduated in may of 2008 that makes him 19 years and 8 months old when he graduated. Im a fan of him and as you see holdback works. My point is that they do hold back and the players are not on equal ground especially at the younger ages.

Up until the end of your freshman year the guidelines should be about age and safety. After that grade can come in. Nobody can disagree that long island teams do not size up in u15 but after that they dominate again. Could be one of the reasons kids get held back. Another problem is these are still kids let them grow into there bodies before you rate them
