As of 2 years ago, they allow you to have A and B teams in 5th and 6th grade if you enter the top team in the "A" division.

Hi, I am also interested in this question. Where are these rules stated? Does not say anything about how to set teams on the PAL website. Or even in the new 2014 rules.

As of 2 years ago, they allow you to have A and B teams in 5th and 6th grade if you enter the top team in the "A" division. So what you and the PAL are saying is that the 'A' division is clearly the 'best' division where the top teams reside (implying the 'D' division is the developmental division. B and C follow accordingly. All grade divisions same breakdown) Wonder what the likes of GC, Mnhst and CSH, among others, are going to say on the even split when their multiple 2nd/3rd and 4th grade teams are going to have to register in the same division. And will have to play each other on more than a couple of occasions, since they are now, as you say..'even' and cant play in separate (skill based) divisions - interesting concept. Will the PAL come in and evaluate towns with multiple teams to guarantee even splits and proper division placement?? Apologize, just calling it as it looks

Apologize, just calling it as it looks on the boys side the 1st & 2nd grade is instructional and they are not supposed to keep score. 2nd & 3rd grade must be split evenly with no more than two teams in a division from a town. The divisions break down as Division 1,2,3,4..... In 5th and 6th grade they are permitted to stack an "A" Team comprised of the best players. this is for the larger towns like CSH, GC, FS, MANH, MASS, NPORT, SWR, SYSOS,3V, WI, PORT. After a town enters their A team they can enter their remaining teams in divisions 1,2,3,4.... with a maximum of two teams in any division. For the girls it is simple. 1st & 2nd is instructional and they do not keep score. All othe Girls teams MUST BE BALANCED . Towns are not supposed to have tryouts and make A teams and C teams. So if your town has girls teams in 3rd grade through 7/8 grade the teams are supposed to be balanced if they are not they are not playing by the rules of NCPAL.

Apologize, just calling it as it looks PAL is an opportunity for all kids to play ball and learn the game at all positions. It is all about the worst kids on the team,, not about the best. There are a ton of opportunities for the best kids to shine...club ball, select teams etc. PAL has modified rules, iits a greAt opportunity for your kid to play with his friends regardless of ability. We all like winning so we play yo win but lets not lose sight of what PAL is about.

You have seemed to miss the point. If the league runs with an 'A' (#1) division, with B,C,D (to follow) and all teams are to split evenly sub 5th grade - Then all teams are so called 'Even'....correct?? and must enter a relative (skill based and SAME) division accordingly. What the above poster is saying is that if teams are equal within a specific town, they must play in an equal division (Example: With split, all of GC teams are now rated 93/100 - they should all play in a division which is comprised of other teams rated on or close to 93) They can't take 2 of their 4 teams and play in other lower divisions slated for teams who are rated 90< ... that is called 'stacking' and PAL is all about fair play and learning...right?? - I will lay it out for you: (Div1A=90-100 rating / D2B=80-89 / D3C=70-79 / D4D=60-69)From a mathematical view, the numbers just don't add up as it seems and no matter what, if a town with multiple teams registers even one of these so called 'even' teams in another lower division - It only shows that there is going to be an unfair advantage for that specific team (Ex: team rated 93 playing in a division slated for teams rated 80-89) PAL is all about learning and fun - Do you think it is a fair for an 81 to play a 93?? ...... or fun for that matter - then again, maybe for the 93 it is

They would have to play in the same division. It is also apparent that these towns are at no fault of their own. I want my kids to have a good time and learn but not be killed in the process by those towns that have numerous teams entered in the league.

NCPAL is run on the honor system.... with that said many are not honorable..... The boys towns that put "A" teams into the 5&6th grade divisions will only play against "A" teams . They all request to be in that division so they will have games against equally skilled teams. They are the towns that are not looking to be in div 2 and beat up on everyone . By entering into the "A" div. they are making their second and third teams that should be balanced weaker teams. You will most likely find them in div 2 and 3. Most towns will have a large drop off from the "A" team to their second team and so on. in the rare instance that the second team is strong that town should place that team into div 1. Is it a perfect system ..... Only if the directors control the crazy coaches that want to stack teams and put them in div 2 to beat up on everyone. Since NCPAL is now on the Horizon system. They have computer printouts of last years team records. Now they can look at a teams record from last year and see if they pounded everyone they played. Now they can ignore the coaches request to stay in that lower division and move them up to the higher division where they belong. You should see an improvement this year. As a director in my town I request a team be moved down if they only have 2 wins and move them up if they have 2 losses.

If you're director is a member of the good old boy network, you get to do whatever you want with your teams. If he is not, you are out of luck!

Three Village was sending "A" teams to beat up on everyone for years. I guess they are one of the leagues that you term not honorable.

Hahaha 'Good Old Boy Network'.....Isn't that the truth - Isn't it a shame that the PAL runs with their own set of politics, rules and bylaws. (But only if it benefits certain parties) If you are not in, you are out. What would benefit the kids of Long Island that much more would be if the PAL disbands, and USLacrosse comes in and runs a full Long Island League with their national set of recognized rules and regulations. Its done here on LI with Hockey and Soccer, why not Lacrosse??

Nothing like PAL and a town team claiming they are a C or D level and they wipe up on an honest PAL program/director.
Let's face it, some guys are all about winning..and I get it at 6,7,8 grade age ... But at 3 and 4 grade levels? Ive been in it for 6 years now, and it is commonplace

So pathetic that PAL which us run by the "old boys club" (literally) has one set if rules for the boys but a different set if rules for the girls. Why can't the girls have "A" teams?

Seems like this discussion went off track a little. Question is, what can be done about towns with mutiple (3+) teams and them registering 'even' teams in separate skill based divisions? this seems to be an honest even-split issue. And again, it is apparent it's not the towns fault and it is understood them not wanting to play 3 or more teams from the same town. There has to be a logical, if not ethical solution to this problem. Guess the PAL pro decided not to chime in on this issue.....that's no surprise

There are not many towns that can put in three teams in one division. So you must be talking about GC and Manhasset Farmingdale .....towns. Its a problem most towns wish they had. In my town we only have one age group with 3 teams . We take the top 36 and make two balanced teams out of them and ask to be in div 1 and take all of the newer players and kids that couldn't realistically play against div 1 players and put them on a div 3 team where they usually at best go .500 every season. Our two teams are balanced and strong but never go undefeated. Every game is competeive 1-2 goal games. That is the best I can give as a logical solution to our towns way of dealing with the problem. Maybe this new A team format will solve the issue . The "A" teams will take all of the select players off of the balanced teams and create a all star team to play against other all star teams. That will make the remaining teams weaker so the towns can have their other two teams in div 2. We will not participate in the "A" division.

If you're director is a member of the good old boy network, you get to do whatever you want with your teams. If he is not, you are out of luck! So pathetic that PAL which us run by the "old boys club" (literally) has one set if rules for the boys but a different set if rules for the girls. Why can't the girls have "A" teams? The girls have LISGYLL in 7th and 8th grade for A and B teams. They should probably have this is 6th grade as well but doubtful that PAL will make those changes on the girl side. Easier for scheduling to only have balanced team.

That is a bunch of junk. I agree that it is BS that the boys have it and girls dont. Goes back to the "old boys club" mentality.

Guess the PAL pro decided not to chime in on this issue.....that's no surprise Suprise suprise im back ...sorry I had a PAL coaches meeting. Why aren't you participating in the A division?

How do you tell a kid that he was good enough to play for you since second grade but now he isn't good enough in sixth. We will keep our balanced teams and finish what we started.

I respect your honesty, truly I do - thank you.....And I am asking the same question - why are you not registering your best 18 kids in the 'A' Division?? Which would only make them better players might I add - From what I learned at my 'coaches meeting' is that any town that divides A/B MUST register their 'A' team(s) in division 1 - why not just make an A div team of 18? then have a team in B and your newer kids in D?.....it sounds like you are registering with an 'Even Split' though (can be done at all grades) - but in essence, you are not splitting evenly ---- Right here my friends is the problem - there are so many ways to skirt the PAL system. It is extremely flawed in more ways than one. I am sure there are numerous kids who have been left back on these so called B teams as well

Does anyone know the actual date PAL opened up to start registering players?? Rosters were due to the league on Friday, February 7th. The girls seeding meeting is this coming Tuesday, February 11th with the boys seeding meeting scheduled for Thursday, February 13th. Scheduling will follow and should be completed by March 15th. The eight game season will begin during the final weekend of March.

My question is, what is the earliest date towns can start their spring registrations? Nov 30th, Dec 15th etc etc - or does it really matter? As long as they get their rosters in by 2/7....correct?

I am sure there are numerous kids who have been left back on these so called B teams as well I think the problem is that some towns have much deeper talent pools. The top 18 from one town could beat the pants off the top 18 from another. Some towns can probably put two teams in the A division by splitting the top 30 kids. I don't know if I am misunderstanding but the bigger towns seem to have a big advantage here. Even teams seems a lot more fair.

Can anyone recommend an organization in Nassau County for my Kindergarten daughter. We just recently moved to Long Island she played last year in a Peewees program in Brooklyn. It seems that our town PAL doesn't have an age appropriate division for her. Thanks
