New Rankings out for US Club Lacrosse. Venom is not even in the top 25 after the fall season? Is that correct? If so, wow they have taken a few steps backwards the past two years.

Those are the parents that I just don't understand. It's ok if your kid isn't a star on age on his team but for some parents, that's just not OK. So we'll have our kid waste an entire academic year all in the name of HOPING that he kills it against kids a year younger than him. Good for you mom and dad-i'm sure you're sleeping well at night. They aren’t ranked at all because you need to have played 6 games and they have only played 5 so far. NLF they are only listed as having played 2 games.

When your kid reclasses expect that everyone will call your kid out nowadays. No one is staying quiet. No one will give your kid any credit for their athletic achievements either.

Why is this person so infatuated with holdbacks? He is dominating the board. Were you not held as a child? Did your parents not love you? What is it to you that someone else decided to reclass. Give it a rest. Can’t we talk about lacrosse? Someone serve this guy up for thanksgiving.

Smart move helping your son increase every opportunity in life. Reclassification can make a 3 star, a 4 or 5 star in the new grade, increase scholarship money, increase looks from better schools, and potentially get an NIL deal.

S2S gave up talent over the summer for size at this age......will be interesting to see how they fare when the big kids aren't big anymore.

This year S2S decided to play C teams.....they have done well, but playing a bunch of low quality teams. I think they lost to a New Hampshire team a couple of week ago. Didn't even know New Hampshire had teams (sorry New Hampshire)

S2S always looks good against C teams.....you're paying way too much money for this "experience". If your kid is on S2S, they are NOT getting a scholorship, not playing D1 but might have a chance of playing D3 (which is not a bad thing at all). Pump the brakes!!

Don’t worry when it doesn’t work out you can always do a gap year, PG year and then Redshirt.

Smart move helping your son increase every opportunity in life. Reclassification can make a 3 star, a 4 or 5 star in the new grade, increase scholarship money, increase looks from better schools, and potentially get an NIL deal.

You also get potential damage to their self-esteem, social development, academic progress, feelings of isolation, stigma, and a perception of being behind their peers. You do get to spend 17-20K on a private school to learn everything he should’ve learned last year and lose a year of earning as well due to finishing school a year later. So you are in a hole already financially. There’s also the questionable moral choice you are teaching him is ok.

I actually know someone this happened too. He repeated 8th grade in small catholic school. The went to St. Anthonys and absolutely hates it. He's now looking to go back to public school. He was on a top team when he reclassed and saw a lot of time. Now the kid barely plays. Sometimes reclassing isn't the answer. To say the kid is a mess psychologically is an undertstatement.

Now you’re an amateur Child Psychologist. Give it a rest. You should’ve held your son back, instead you spend all day on here trying to convince yourself that you made the right choice. If only you could afford it, maybe your son would be better. How does he handle your self-righteousness?

Oh, it’s you again. I was hoping that you would come back one here, but in retrospect I should have known you would be back. Anyway, I wanted to fess up and give you the credit you deserve. You were totally right about my son watching all the older boys at the showcase this weekend. It was so humbling. I wish I made him stay in 8th grade for another year. Shame you didn’t bestow your wisdom on all of us last year.

You are the outlier buddy. Most people can afford it but think it’s ridiculous to hold a kid back for anything other than problems in the classroom. If your kid was a student he wouldn’t need to holdback. Also anyone with half a brain and willing to do a minimal amount of research knows the negative affects of holding a child back in school. Good luck with middle school.

Lot of angry people on here-why can't we go back to bashing Coach C and his 73 man rosters that change each week with parents finding out on Thursdays what team their kid is on??? The re-class argument is like religion and politics. Nobody is going to change their mind, parents aren't going to reconsider holding kids back if that's what they want to do, and other parents (like me) will scratch their head and wonder why it's so important for kids to be the best, even if they're playing a group of kids who are a year younger. Whatever-nothing is going to change. So, that being said, what else can we talk about?

Here's a question-son asked me about attending prospect camps at specific colleges. Are they worth it and if they are, when does he start looking into it?

Hardly, Look at Duke,UVA or any Ivy roster, 75% of team is holdbacks. Unfortunately being held back or doing Prefirst works. Total @ChillLaxin in youth, but helps there too.

This guy doesn’t get it. Yes we all know cheating, excuse me holding back your kid in school helps them in sports. You are playing against younger smaller kids. We all know the kids who are holding back in this grade. For the most part they are seeing others pass them by in size, speed and talent in some cases. They have decided to holdback rather than just go to college and be a lower division athlete or heaven forbid just a student!! What you are not understanding is we think you are nuts. No one cares what the UVA holdbacks do. In ahe kids aren’t comparing themselves to them because many kids right now could be in that top D1 category if they reclassed but won’t reclass. Either the kid, parent or both don’t want to do that. They think it’s ethically wrong or sends wrong message to their kid.
If you are ok with it which you obviously are then go do it. Buyer beware though, the kids their real age give them no credit for playing down no matter what they accomplish, neither do the parents. You don’t seem like a guy that cares what people think, maybe your kid has thick skin too because chances are he will need it.
