Only one person cares about holdbacks in this forum. Everyone else has moved on.

Only time will tell if they are Nuts or Smart so there is that. They are definitely nuts. It doesn’t take any smarts to realize older kids do well against younger kids. Most people prioritize morals over end result. Speak for yourself, the majority of top players are holdbacks. it is a fact. Not average players sitting on bench at D1, I am talking about Top 20 , D1 program starters. Over 50% are holdbacks. It works , @ChillLaxin for the people that dont do it and actually had a chance if they had held their son back. This has happened a lot more in recent years. I think those playing at the D1 level who either just graduated or are graduating this year, it's less common. People are definitely not going to stop, so the rest of us without a holdback son, will just have to learn to accept it. It's not going any where. Sounds like you have a holdback. Rest of us are not going to just accept it. They don’t accept it in some other sports where travel sports is on age. We are going to raise our voices. Complain to US Lacrosse, complain to travel teams, coaches, directors. If local talent avoids the holdback teams locally they will change their way. A lot of keyboard tough guys on this board that say just deal with it while they hold their kids back. Kudos to the folks with sons that play up still!! We know who you are, that’s how you really develop players. Good for you. Holdback Dads want everyone to submit, we won’t! We are not applauding your kid or going along with this charade. Your kid wasn’t good enough so you held him back. We have our kids still plugging away and working hard. Great life lessons being learned here by the boys who play on age.

I actually don't have a hold back. I have a young 2028, but he plays in the appropriate spot. I agree with making our voices heard, but I feel like it's falling on deaf ears, which is why I said we are going to have to learn to accept it.

It's pathetic that any dad (always dad -- moms are generally smarter) would hold a son back for lacrosse.

It's pathetic that any dad (always dad -- moms are generally smarter) would hold a son back for lacrosse. Look how many Varsity and College Coaches' children are held back and playing at a high level and keep telling yourself how pathetic these not-smart Dads are. Meanwhile, you're the one conversing with yourself on a public message board.

Maybe you should have been held back a couple of more times.

They aren’t playing at a “high level”, they are playing down in age. Tell that to #34 at Duke or #22 at Syracuse. Let them know that a keyboard warrior on BOTC thinks they are cheating. and someone called them, gasp, a TOOLBOX. Thanks for making your small boy arguments. I bet your kid actually believes you when you tell him, if you work hard you’ll be just as good as those bigger boys. When he graduates HS maybe you can help polish his tools from Apex tech.

It’s pathetic the same guy is responding to his own posts about how disgruntled he is with holdbacks. Time to let go. Ship has sailed

There are a lot more cheating holdbacks than just those 2 but yes they both are cheaters. Also I didn’t say toolbox. There are more than just 1 person on this board that thinks you are out of your mind reclassing your kid to get ahead in a sport that pays 35k a yr.
