Why is everyone so jealous of Venom? If your kid is good enough- try out, otherwise worry about your own kids progress and the team he is on. Team 91 organization STATS speak for itself!!

Clown - no one is jealous of 91 or Express for that fact. 91 especially has excelled the past 2 years and will continue with a majority of their main and star players flying in from all over the country to play in front of the hard working players who attend practice and pay for the fly-ins. That’s pretty impressive. Buy your way to success without much old fashioned hard work. Make sure you all bite for Kamala-Walz!

Their recruiting speaks for itself not development. No reason to waste time and $ trying out if coaches haven’t reached out to recruit you first. Have your kid tryout 3 days while the recruited kid makes the team and shows up 1 day. If your kid plays the same position as one of the 5 coaches son’s or their friends, save your $$ and time and tryout elsewhere.

Venom has kids flying in? Not sure about that or at least it hasn’t happened yet. Express flew a player in from California last year to beat venom. Seems like we have a few express parents on here spinning this story in their favor.

The big issue with venom is that they set up themselves for cupcake games in pool play, and then face stiff competition in the playoffs and either squeak out a win or they lose. The only happy people are the kids who don't usually play and their parents so that they can get into a game.

Stop counting Coach C’s money. It’s a business. If you do t want to play for express then don’t . But if you want a top program then stop the complaining.

I recently spoke to a college coach and asked him what's more important, being on a good team and not playing or playing on a lesser team but playing a lot. The answer was you don't get better from watching, you have to be on the field to get better. He said he gets asked that a lot and says it's the parents that are doing the kids a disservice by opting for the better team and less playing time. You learn and grow from playing in games.

Unfortunately this is true, you have to do what’s right for you and your kid. Can’t get caught up in other people’s journeys. I know kids who are totally fine not playing as much but being on a better team. That’s fine. It’s also fine to be on a lesser team and be a student. It’s all fine as long as both parents and kids understand their role and are having fun! Period

Playing time is important but also need to be a on good team in order to get better by playing against and with better kids. Lower teams also dont get the looks. I'm sure you're referring to future participation on "Lower teams" that don't get looks; which, you are correct. My son is a 2026 and this summer, during a tournament, Coach John Danowski was watching a 2025 game (which was adjacent to my son's game). Also, another DIII coach said that they will focus on 2026 starting this fall. My point, no college coach is watching 2028s or anyone else, except for 2025s and 2026. However, playing time NOW (and for the entire 2024-2025 season) for a 2028 player can definitely change the players trajectory and the prior poster's comment about playing time is SPOT ON. However, the window of opportunity to change programs is narrowing.

Every team gets looks, if the club does what they should. It is the clubs that don’t enter the teams in the correct events in HS that don’t get the looks. If you keep your son on a team because it is better and he is not playing. And by playing, does the coach have him out there in a tie game in the 4th qtr. if no…. Then you are wasting time and missing the whole purpose of club lacrosse.

Express dad has a hard on for venom. Also very apparent quite a few of the responses are from people who have never played a sport. Completely lost when it comes to development. The simple formula is just get better, how it happens is different for everyone. Rob Panell never played a minute in high school. He was able to get into a great school upstate and worked his @ChillLaxin off to make the team. Different for everyone there is no perfect way to do it. Stop with dense Meanyone word responses, lost express dad.

He was a multi year starter at smithtown who earned all American honors as a senior. He did a PG year at Deerfield instead of attending Quinnipiac and ended up at Cornell. Early in his senior year at Cornell he sustained a season ending injury, since the Ivy League doesn’t allow redshirt seasons he withdrew from school and came back the following season and played as what would have been his 6th year of college, making him the equivalent of a double reclass.

RP wasnt heavily recruited out of high school. Went to Deerfield and was accepted to Cornell based on academics not lacrosse. Holdback or not he made it. Think the point is everyone has a different path. Express dad believes there is only one way and it’s his way. Can’t reclass, can’t holdback, can’t play for venom or daddy coaches, can’t hit the wall, have to be in the field 100% of the time and should be on varsity as an 8th grader. These are all myths and plenty of examples exist.

More than anything this is the key to lacrosse success. Almost every “student” pro on high D1 player was a reclass. This is the dirty little normal so secret of Lacrosse that needs to be addressed.
