Excelsior games were a joke last summer. Waste of money (to play but also for travel/meals/hotel because they were in Albany.)

Didn’t do them this year but at least they are local.

Well YJ did post they are looking for “out of state stars” from all over the country.
And yes YJ, along with other programs, have done this before but first time they have publicly asked.

It was called New York State Regional Championship for a couple years before they changed the name to Excelsior

Look at it as an opportunity for your daughter to play lacrosse and attempt to secure some bragging rights, and you will be fine

Look at it as a recruiting event and you might be disappointed

They are offering a “VIP Experience” with college coaches (actually a pretty decent list)- I guess something like a clinic.

But the event is more like just competing region vs region. Not really meant for anything else.

Wasn’t it “the empire games?” And wasn’t it run by someone else?

The fact that it’s on LI makes it a home run. No way people are going to Albany for it.

College coaches are not looking at 2029s. Nothing wrong with this event, but set the expectation going in. You may have a college coach running drills or the sideline but they are by no means writing your name down.

It was empire games a while back, run by someone else, and was boys only. It was a very big deal, a top event. Then something happened (not sure, organizer/sponsor folded/pulled out, something like that) and they stopped having it for a while. Eventually LILJ resurrected it and added girls to it.

The scheduling for the Excelsior games made absolutely no sense at all. There has to be a better way to schedule for all these teams.

Correct, get everyone out of there quickly. Two completely full days is absurd.

91. You lucky. Finished your game, got to go back to the hotel and clean up. Head back home. Didn’t even need late checkout.

With 91 losing, this gives YJ a clear path to winning the National Championship.

Nasty comments by YJ parent does not make anyone want to switch over. Must have real fun team dinners with people who think and speak like this. And I’m sure the girls follow their parents lead.

Why would you want to switch? Thought you guys have the best team with the best players and best coaching…

Anyone know why TG would opt out of Nationals? Do they participate with their older teams?

Good thing Friedman won the National Championship vs the #19 team in the country because they have a very tough end of the year tournament against the #22, #35, and #38 teams. Must be hard.

TG has never gone as a club. I think once or twice a team has gone on it's own.

I’d rather lose with my homegrown team than win by importing players from other states. Pride is a joke. Keep your head up.

People do upset over a NC kid going to VA to play because she has no team. Meanwhile LI kids are double dipping with teams.

I have never seen that with the top LI teams in our class. Out of state teams have disgusting roster practices that can’t be compared to any of your daughters’ teams.

LI teams double dipping is more of an issue on the boys side. We have seen teams have A kids go down and play on the B team to win tournaments, kids coming from out of state to play, etc.
On the girls side there are a few out of state girls playing on LI teams.

Wait a couple years. It won't be a "few" anyone.

Did YJ- Friedman play TG-Black and 91 Roar this summer? All these Maryland teams play each other so often. It makes MD teams better.
Why wouldn’t the top long island teams play each other more ?

I get what you are saying but on the occasion LI teams do play each other all I hear on the sidelines is "Why did I drive all the way to Maryland and spend five hundred dollars on a Comfort Inn just to play another Long Island team"

Why don’t they just scrimmage on Long Island? Thats the point - why drive five hrs to get good games.

YJ dad chiming in with misinformation and still trying to deflect why they avoid playing in the top bracket.

Weird the LI run US Club rankings left off 91s one half blow out loss to Pride. How many other games are missing? Tell me again the rankings aren’t skewed to LI team…
