About the True Blue Lacrosse Program
True Blue is committed to providing an affordable and highly competitive lacrosse community. Experienced NCAA talent along with current NCAA and High School coaches will develop each team with an age appropriate curriculum. The core values of Good Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Respect for Others and Community Service will be the corner stone of the organization. Our philosophy is that these values merged with a competitive spirit will enable our players to reach their collegiate lacrosse goals. The True Blue community will extend beyond the field with important college recruiting guidance and opportunities for our alumni to stay involved.

True Blue is a grass roots program originally started by a few parents interested in having their children play outside the typical regional tournaments. A large portion of the venture was privately funded and the U13 team travelled to Denver and most recently Stowe, Vermont. Painstaking care and communication was taken to ensure there would be no conflicts with the selected player’s commitment to existing travel teams.

The outpouring of positive feedback from all involved has motivated True Blue to a new initiative of providing an affordable yet comprehensive lacrosse community. The core values of the program will focus on creating a highly competitive and highly enjoyable lacrosse experience. All coaches will be hand selected for their ability to raise every player’s game and their strong desire to instill good sportsmanship. Tournament selection will include the acclaimed regional venues along with a continued search for quality Tournaments that provide a Family Friendly environment.

All preregistration is now closed - more than 250 players have registered the True Blue tryouts in their three age groups. The club is at their capacity for tryout evaluations. BOTC wishes the very best to all the players participating in this weekend's events.

When Chris Roberts called BOTC to tell us that he needed to close out the preregistration, he mentioned that he was thinking that True Blue would only field one team per age group. Whether there will be any change of heart will be tied to the talent level assessment and whether quality coaching can be found. In our discussion, Chris mentioned that he specifically very much wants to maintain the quality and small club feeling.

I was at U11 tryouts. It seemed to me one kid was better than the next! I have not been to many tryouts, can anyone lend some educated thoughts on the level of the kids in that level they saw ? Basically, for the other big names teams out there, has the level of play been the same, equal to or lesser than what showed up yesterday? I am really hoping they make TWO U11 teams to help the younger kids grow...

The level of talent at the tryout was about the same for true blue as the other big programs. Enough really good players to field a very good team, and a good second team in the 3 age groups. The BIG diffrence is True Blue is not going to be fielding a 3rd or sometimes a 4th team just to make some money. It says a lot about the program that they will not field they extra teams and did not charge for the tryouts. My sons have been involved with othe programs Express, 91, Rough Riders and you had to be impressed with What Mr. Roberts and crew are trying to do, They even had a team defibilator at the tryous.

Is that a good thing that they are fielding 2 5th grade teams. Do they really have the talent to compete?

BOTC spoke with Chris Roberts on Tuesday and Wednesday, just before there was a full club meeting to decide how to handle their age groups.

Each and every player was individually reviewed from all of the observers who "graded" the players. True Blue did not make a decision to expand the team count before the review of the players. Chris was very weary of any expansion plan and told us that he would only do so if the Board of Directors/Coaches at True Blue truly believed that they had the right level of talent and coaching bandwidth to handle an expansion.

If this age group was expanded, the club clearly feels that they are doing the right thing by these particular players and their families - and that the talent level is present to justify this expansion for the club itself.

One final thought : with hundreds of candidates attracted to their True Blue tryouts (to the point that preregistration was closed here on BOTC), it would have been "easy" to just form as many teams as possible. True Blue is maintaining the quality of both the coaching and the program itself; BOTC wishes the program and its players a wonderful season.
