They get paid, and their kids play for free. Just like referees and like any other paid professional, you have a job to do, and the expectation is you will do it to the best of your ability. If not, then don't accept the role, and let someone else who is willing to put forth the time and effort handle it. There is no excuse to show up and just go through the motions, or not play kids. When you accept a job, like coaching, own it, and make it your duty to develop kids. Don't tell me it nets $15 an hour, tell me you care and show up to make kids better players and more importantly better people. The Igloo coach was fired because he only cared about winning, in his dismissal email, that's what he told parents, unfortunately in 4th grade, it's not about winning. He deserved to be fired, and should never coach youth sports again.

Let's think about this for a sec, Ted. Why would somebody put a guarantee on a kid? Hmmm, very interesting.
