Division, Hicksville, Sewanhaka and Elmont were all great programs. Now they’re pathetic. Farmingdale is next, lacrosse has been and always be a rich kids game. Wealthy towns will continue to dominate, all the others will fall to the side. Youth lacrosse can’t help it, club is financially restrictive, if a parent never played how can he coach at PAL level? This is why lacrosse will not grow past a niche sport for rich kids.

They losing kids to private schools? Lots of that over here in CT too. Seems like the public school level of play is dropping. @ChillLaxin. Still fun rivalries but I think public vs private is a gap that is only widening. Only speaking for CT schools.

It's similar on LI also. No public school is beating St Anthonys or Chaminade.

Manhasset kids have great school district and great sports. Don’t see why they have the need to go to private schools?
You could say the same thing about the Fairfield County area, where the public schools are fantastic and the programs are nationally competitive, but even in a town like Darien, the youth program is now getting gutted by NEW-1, Lawrenceville, and even Georgetown Prep of all places. Club ball and entities like NLF have created this illusion that if you want to play serious D1 lacrosse, you have to go to a prep school and reclass.

It's a full on arms race and honestly I feel embarrassed for the schools and organizations pushing this all. Spending so much time and effort to stack the deck in their favor to win a children's game. Does winning even mean anything at this level when there's no sense of community that brought these teams together, and all the kids are 1 and sometimes even 2 years older than the competition? Congrats, you put all of your time, money, and attention to build a super team to beat a local squad with younger players, with academics a mere after thought for these kids.

Even the fabled MIAA has given in to the shifting tides: BL, McDonogh, and Calvert Hall have lineups packed with kids from around the country and essentially aren't Maryland teams anymore. Why a kid like Matt Higgins felt the need to leave a terrific school/lax program like St. Ignatius to go across the country and board at BL, and then play club ball on LI in the summer, is beyond me. Do these kids and parents really have nothing else to flesh out their lives than to drop everything to chase an ever so slightly higher level of high school lacrosse?

You're way off pal. F'dale easily won Class A last year and they will again this year. Program is strong. Pequa on the other hand has really dropped. They were great program for many years and they are not very average. Looks like it's going to be that way for a while there. Not sure what happened.

It’s called choice. It’s kind of an American thing. Not really sure why you care so much that you’re embarrassed for people you don’t even know, but it seems extremely dramatic.

Don’t you have anything better to do than come in an anonymous lax board and complain about “children’s” lacrosse? Quit your sanctimonious @ChillLaxin and focus on your own kid(s), quit making excuses and concerning yourself w what other families are doing.
And as someone who attended a private school, there is a sense of community; the boys (or girls) rally around each other, knowing people like you root for them to fail. The experience will leave an indelible mark on their lives and they’ll be better for it, regardless of what happens w lacrosse.
Now I know why kids are so soft these days, geez

Those two school pull from all over LI so should beat the publics. Make 2 teams with the top 50 public school players on LI and they compete with privates no problem.

Sorry, I don't think your warriors have enough fire power to compete with a SS defense and goalie that only gave up 4 goals to GC. Plus a young warrior defense that will have there hands full of the deep offensive weapons SS can throw at you.

Can Pequa take down GC today. Thinking Pequa attack is too young and may be at a disadvantage against the GC defense..

Random comment. The Longwood varsity lax coach is a total dweeb. Talks garbage to multiple other head coaches the game about how their team isn't good. Then loses to the other team big time. Calm down guy. The league doesn't want to hear it.

Congrats to SS on their first respectable win ever. Can they keep it up year in and year out?

Not pounding your chest anymore? That was an awful lot of smack talk. Go back to your basement. Clueless wannabe.

SS is off to a great start, no argument there and maybe this is their year to win the island. However, my point is very simple - In order to gain real recognition SS will need to get it done consistently like teams such as WM, GC and Manhasset.

1 league, LI and state championship (2004) is a far cry for the historically elite public schools.

Side note: SS is a combined 3-53 vs GC and manhasset.
#wannabe

Cone on man!! Let them have their year.. I do think that some of the blue bloods are going to have some down years the next few seasons. Not all just some

Well that didn’t take long, down goes SS. Can we get a wellness check on the SS super fan! Poor guy

Well Massapequa had a coaching change and some parents took control of the program. It’s dead now. But the comment was regarding changing demographics. Farmingdale is in big trouble, hence, so is the lax program. Gonna be a great soccer town soon!

I never see any Farmingdale kids on any major college lax team rosters. Does anyone know why? Is lax a second sport for most of the kids?

Pequa starting the JV attack on the Varsity is an issue. Their young 9th grade attack is physically not ready for varsity and it has showed the last few games.

This is a major issue and such a bad game plan. Bringing up 8th/9th graders that are physically immature and not able to be impactful players, while leaving older, stronger more experienced kids on the bench creates a terrible team culture with teamates routing against each other. No team with this culture will ever be good. Too much negativity.

The players in the bench are not better.

The players on the bench cant be worse than the who they are playing. Current players Can't score. Can't beat their defender. Can't ride. Turn the ball over and have unforced turnovers.
Lets go to plan B. Plan team 91 coaching plan is not working..

Coaches his boys to be dirty too. Guess if you can't beat them you decide to beat them.

I could care less one way or another. But how sure of your statement are you? Bottom line, the Massapequa parents destroyed a great program because of hurt feelings. Now they have kids on a team that will muddle in 4-6 place in Nassau A.

Watched the Longwood Coach play Hills. Total DB, not sure why he is coaching or who condones it. Abuses his players the officials and the other coaches. It is a poor example for any player or child watching. He needs to be spanked by his mommy.

Who hires these buffons? Is there any form of background check or required certification? This was a huge miss by the Longwood administration.

I've seen the antics also. The guy acts like he's coaching a powerhouse. Calm down buddy. Just coach the boys and stop with the trashy talk to other team players and coaches.

Schommy has turned SJB (7-1) around these last 3 years. His instagram (fogolax) makes a good point about his points leaders taking a chance on him and avoided riding the bench at the other schools. They are not close to SA etc but seem to be in the top 10? on LI: beat Seaford/Bayshore and was competitive with HHH in an early season game.

The school district has very limited opportunities. They have to hire the senior teacher who wants the position. It’s a Union contract issue.

South Side has a daddy coach. There are quite a few parents and club coaches working in districts across LI. Shouldn’t be allowed.

Why Not? If they are qualified and credentialed, approved by the AD and BOE what is the issue? Show up to your BOE meetings, voice your opinions and maybe you'll get something done. Not sure how coming on here and complaining is helping your cause.

The bottom line is Massapequa is just not a talented team this year. They have a great defender and goalie, but the rest of the team is very inexperienced and has never played a significant minute outside of this season.

If Manhasset's defense plays even remotely close to how they played vs SWR, it will be a very interesting game.

They have not had a good team in close to three years
