Coaching a
MIAA A conference team is a full time job. Can’t take summers off. They don’t get it. B conference is 2/3 years. Spalding owns the county now.

Coaching in MIAA is way overrated. Please stop saying how great the coaching is. Any decent Club/Rec coach could have the same results with those players. There is a reason none go on to college to coach.

Kelly and Hilgartner could be legitimate college coaches. Nobody else.

2 Tewaaraton Award winners would suggest otherwise.

Gilman coach could/should be a 7/8 year old rec coach.

The dozen kids on the current roster from out of state would suggest otherwise.

Even more coming this year prove that.

There are no out of state kids at BL. Fact.

Some of posters really show your privilege mentality and cant wait to see how your parents push you through your adult years. Guess daddy will always bail you out!
Lets talk about athletics in General:
McDonough very good all around, some of the best athletes there both boys and girls a conference most sports
CH very good athletically boys A conference most sports
MSJ very good athletically boys A conference most sports
AS very good athletically both boys and girls A conference most sports
JC very good athletically both boys and girls A conference most sports
BL, A conference one sport, not so talented athletically except lacrosse and a few exceptions
ST Mary's average at best both boys and girls with a few exceptions, very few A conference teams
Severn average at best both boys and girls
Gilman not very athletic in anything anymore except baseball

Bl has boarders but I think some are Marylanders.

I commend BL for their strategic decision to board students. BL is leveraging their historic lacrosse heritage and making a move. Local demographics have shifted with a smaller population to recruit students. Towson High and Dulaney High are basically being rebuilt to state of the art institutions. St Pauls and SPSG merged. Loyola built a new impressive middle school building. Gilman is filling the woke progressive void. MCD relied on a big non alum donor for impressive facilties. CHC needs to figure out their next move because a large student body is non sustainable.

BL was not sitting around while CH and McD became Lacrosse Champions. BL will be a final four every year now along with McD . The rest are fighting for scarps now/

The BL website lists each lax team's roster and every kid's hometown.

There are at least a dozen confirmed out of state kids.

And reportedly more for the '24 season.

If BL wants to compete, This is what they need to do. Sorry if it hurts some of the genteel MIAA parents and players feelings.

While I agree with you.....you're taking politicians' promises too literally. While the County is building a war chest to fund both projects, building capital projects on public land is a long process.

DHS was going to go to construction in late 2024 *if* permits were secured by 7-1-23, which they were not. Construction will last at least until summer 2026. Most likely 1st grad class at all will be the 2028s.

THS was politically slotted behind DHS and Lansdowne But theres less work to do. Milestones for a 2025 construction start have all, already been blown. Most likely a 2027 start date and 1st class in the new buildings will be 2029s or 2030s.

None of this invalidates your point but the impact to other Towson MIAA schools is farther off in the distance.

McD is a sports Academy with a subpar school next door.

LOL - outside of Gilman, no one has higher academic standards than McDonogh.

All of the MIAA schools are good academic schools, they get their students into some of the top universities, they all have AP classes and honors courses, they all offer many courses outside of core curriculum, most have top notch faculty. Sure McDonogh may have the best campus, but all schools in MIAA are academic powerehouses compared to public schools, and they all have their skeletons. Not one is better than the other. Since you asked for honest opinions, that’s mine.

1. You send your kid to Gilman or MCD to become a wokester
2. Send your kid to STP to get him ready for D3 lax and a membership at BCC
3. Send your kid to BL so he can party and play lax
4. Send your kid to CH because it's cheap
5. Send your kid to LB so you don't have to tell people your kid went to da "Hall"

Catholic school education is sub par to most public schools

Really why sub par? Please explain. Schools are what you kid ( or if you are a kid makes out of it. Seen many daddy's and Mommy's send their kid because of legacy schools to just fail and flop. Kids are first generation private school like me and lead a very successful life that I may or may have not gotten at a public school. It's what you make out of it. Unless you are a mommy and Daddy's boy who will just iminsecure on them to save your A@@ when things get tough.

Gilman, Severn, McDonogh - top tier in that order
LB, MSJ, JC - middle tier
St. Mary’s, BL, CHC, Spalding - bottom tier

Look at the colleges this year’s graduates will attend next year from each school. It’s a decent comparison. Boys Latin has been sending more kids to the top universities more than any other private school. Except for the girls and boys lacrosse teams the rest of the graduates at McD attend the same schools as a public school graduate. Gilman graduates list of schools that their seniors will be attending next year is even less impressive ( I’ve never heard of some of the schools their lacrosse players will be attending).Loyola and CHC graduates attend colleges similar to their high school; just mediocre. Don’t know about the other schools.

Please don't say "compared to public schools". It's just not true. It might make you feel better if you're shelling out a ton of cash for private school, but it simply is not true. What you are paying for is smaller classes and less exposure to discipline problems. Public schools offer a great education -- with AP classes and -- unlike many of the private schools -- certified teachers, who are trained in both their subject area and how to teach. Take a look at the credentials of many of your so called superior private school teachers -- many are not certified teachers. This is a problem if your kid doesn't know how to teach him or herself.

St Mary’s bottom tier when it comes to facilities. McDonough probably has the best.

Catholic schools in Baltimore are actually better than the vast majority of public schools academically. And all of them based upon sports, socially, network, college prep/acceptance, and safety.

St. Mary's is bottom for facilities, and it's not even close.

So your argument is that public schools are as good or better, as long as you don't count the public school behavior issues, and don't count the public non AP classes (the vast majority of courses) and non AP students, which is most of them. That's what we call tortured reasoning. My neighbor hit me with that once..."The AP wing is its own building sonits not really even public school." And there you have it.

The argument that the AP kid would thrive in either system is a better one...but doesn't include the long list of public school kids who have talent and slip through the cracks with classes in trailers and 1 college counselor per 300 kids.

Did anyone go to or hear about any of the National All Star games ? 24’s , 25’s or 26’s? Big year for 25’s!! Confused that there’s been no buzz.
