You two nerds should get a room and leave everybody else out of it. If your son is not on Crabs, 91 or FCA by now his career is coming to an end unless he’s going to public school or playing for Gilman. Lacrosse is a bottle neck the higher the level. Playing on a non elite club at a lower level in middle school will end your sons career. Let's not falsely conflate those 3 clubs which are all very different. 91 has teams all the way down to 2033 I believe. Outside of the 2023 and 2025 classes and the outstanding coaching and attention they've been given over the years (which has led to high retention of great local, NJ, and NY players on the roster), the 91MD teams range from "not exceptional" to "downright bad." Not even in the top 5 in MD or in the top 50 in the USA. "Elite" indeed. Here's us, watching your 2026 91 kid lose his spot to some random kid from Breakers who is faster and more coachable and has received 3x as much playing time, even though at a shamefully lower level than what 91 offers. insert Sidewinders, Predators, Kelly Post, whoever you like. And yeah, here's us, watching those Sidewinders, Predators, and Kelly Post kids ride the MIAA bench in favor of Crabs, FCA, Madlax, and Hawks players. 91? No. Not after next May, for sure.

Not well researched. Look at the 2024 team with twenty D1 commits. And all the older high school teams had massive commits. 91 gets recruiting done right in high school. For the younger years you have a point.

Disagree all you want but if you’re not on Crabs, FCA or 91 your chances of being recruited to college. Go through all the lacrosse signings in Md. and you’ll see. The facts are there.
Ruppel kid will be transferring out by end of next year! Public school kids aren’t ready for college!

91 2026 are weak. Probably no players will make an impact in high school but will fill out some rosters and could be solid role players. 91 players come into high school much better prepared for the transition. You’ll see bench warmers on 91 play key roles on teams. Other than Millons no true superstars but solid players. 91 doesn’t win at the lower levels because it’s not about winning until high school. 91’s goal is to get kids into good high schools and eventually college and have them properly prepared and trained to contribute right away. Grade the program on that and no one compares!!

Grade the program on that and no one compares!! Winning all the time def not the point ( think hawks over does this early with thinks like their def approach, then they start to lose). That they're getting blown out across the board I think speaks to a issue of training their teams up. They are not able to compete properly with elite teams. They train less and accomplish less.

Running for their lives and giving up 30 turnovers per game with goalies saving 10%. Laying vhrcks that didnt even matter. This scheme only works if you aggressively develop talent from a young age (2023 and 2025) OR you dump the youth players before 9th grade and pretend you got all the new kids into McD or whatever boarding school they attend 500 miles away. Look at their commitments from NY and North on IG. As PP said, how did they attend middle school practice to get developed?

Not really a head scratcher. They made the team BC their 91 coach is the AA Coach. If they were good, their team wouldn't have such an abysmal record. They are decent depth players but nothing more.

That stuff is just junk money grabs mostly. People are paying hundreds to thousands for 3-5 hours of play? And no college coach can talk to you anyway.

It is amazing to me that people keep saying money grab and the younger teams are a waste of time. My son's technical skills and lacrosse IQ have gone up tremendously since joining one of the younger teams. The coaching is very high level and it does prepare them for higher level lacrosse. They are not winning now, but it is better to fail doing it the right way than trying to win now the wrong way. Does it [Censored] getting punched in the teeth right now? Of course. But the kids that aren't getting it will get coached up or coached out, and the teams will build to be very competitive as they get older. Some people don't like that model, but you know what you are getting into when you join. It is not for everyone, but it is not just a money grab if you son is a good player.

That one time when a kid from a public school made it to a top D1 roster is really getting some wear. He will forever be the proof that public school is a great option. Boys, let the PS-ers have it.

Actually Ruppel is a great example that public school players are not anyway near ready for D1. What’s the timeline until he’s at Towson?
Winning at the lower levels in club lacrosse means nothing. The summer of ninth grade os where it all starts with colleges so you should be with a club who has the relationships with the top colleges. 91 has those relationships and the college coaches respect 91.

Quite a few public grads on team USA… What states are the public school grads on team USA from? For the 2023 and 2024 recruiting classes there are fewer than 10 public schools kids going D1 from Maryland. That is less than 10% of all the MD recruits. Most of the kids come from about 12 private schools.

Probably worth mentioning that most of the public school D1 recruits are from two schools - Broadneck and Severna Park. So about 15 high schools (2 public) account for the vast majority of D1 recruits in Maryland. The strongest conclusion you can draw is that families with kids on the college lacrosse track are going to push their kids to those schools to let them compete with the best talent.

How many private school kids from Maryland could not make it. 2 Examples - Jackson Marshall (Goalie) and Cole Herbert (MF) from CHC were on that incredible CHC team that won 3 MIAA championships in a row. Both were recruited heavily and tops in their class. Marshall was a commit to Maryland in 8th grade even before all the championships. Herbert was a lacrosse and Fottball power (Recruited bu Rutgers to play football there). Went to UNC to play lacrosse. Where are they now? Marshall never played in a game at Maryland and was cut with Ruppel replacing him. Herbert never made it through UNC. Transferred to Towson and he is on no rosters as of yet for football or lacrosse, including the U.S.A. lacrosse team which he was a part of. . I am sure that there are hundreds of these scenarios. Just have to open your eyes. Private schools will provide greater opportunities through connections and opportunities to be seen in a much easier way. However, talent is talent and yes a lot of talent go to private schools.

Yes, there are many kids from private schools who went to good D1 lax schools, played for the team, and then decided to opt out and quit. Many in that covid 2020 SR class you mention for whatever reason. I'd say it's nice to have that option to opt out, as opposed to never having the chance if you went to PS.

You think giving a kid a whole year off from school and lacrosse (for the first time in their entire life) RIGHT before college was an ideal situation? And that hybrid college bullshirt didnt have anyhting to do with a record number of kids dropping out of college? Right, bud.

How many boys on the 2028 team this year? 33 This is nowhere near the number this team ends up with by summertime (36+), however it's a big number for August, that's for sure. Maybe that's where all the Predators players went.
