They have about 10 to 15 very talented lacrosse players. However , their roster size is 40+! I think that’s where the problem starts? It seems their other 25 players are a very mixed bag of talent, which seems to be bringing the very talented ones down to mediocre playing level? They are Dumbing down the overall game. They are losing to teams who have a lot less talent.

I think the leadership needs to figure out how to use the talent they have better. It appears Many of their D1 committed players ride their bench? And, it seems they can’t figure out how to get the talent out there working together as a team? Their rankings have suffered. They are Out of the top 10 in the Northeast with 5 LI public’s ahead of them. #20 in National ranking, but Probably soon to be out of National top 25 ? This is unfortunate, as there was a lot of hype on that team both locally and Nationally pre-season.

If they can’t pull it together soon, maybe with some fresh eyes evaluating the talent? They are in for one of their worst season in years.

There is no way they will come close to beating Darien or even give them a good game at this rate. Especially, if they continue playing the way they are playing now. At this point, just hoping that it is not a blowout! That would be unfortunate, and not fun for anyone.

When and where do they play Darien? Let us know how that game goes! Curious to see how the LI teams do against Darien and who plays them best? I’m sure Darien will beat them all, just a matter of by how much?

But I spent a lot of money to send my daughter there so be could play on the best team and be a star. Unacceptable that she sits the bench while other girls who are not better play. I say they are not better because they can’t win meaningful games. Time to give other girls a chance

It’ll be a good game. Darien has their UNC commit and St A’s has their 3.

Darien will blow out St. A’s. It will Not even be close. Darien is #1 nationally ranked HS and St. A’s has fallen out of the top 25

Can someone explain to me why and how Friends Academy plays in Nassau public conference being a private? Also how is it with 2 returning D1 commits they play in such a weak group. Total sandbagging just to rack up wins and stats. How does a sports governing body allow it?

Why does Nassau have 5 conferences. It seems like the majority of “varsity” teams are more like a middle school team. Scores are embarrassingly lopsided when up against good competition. Suffolk definitely has some of the same, but Nassau far more. Difference is that in Suffolk, some teams are blown out pretty much every game they play, but in say conference 5 of Nassau, some of the teams actually think they’re good, but never play any good teams. I don’t get it.

Those players racking up absurd stats vs weak competition don’t get rewarded with All American recognition. The All American selections are given to the top players that compete in the power conference.

Who chooses the All Americans for LI?

Who heads up the committee for picking the LI All-Americans? How is it determined ? Is it voted on by a commitee of people in the LI Lacrosse community? Who’s on the committee?

It happens on the boys side as well in Nassau. Why can't the coaches be truthful and agree on schedules that don't have lopsided scores one way or another. Out of the 10 to 12 games played per year there are only 1 or 2 meaningful games. You shouldn't get rewarded by playing a soft schedule just to make it into the playoffs. Coaches absolutely know what they have year to year

Yes. There is a small committee. Most are varsity coaches and do it to push their players through to get AA. Unless your HS coach makes a lot of noise and shows up to the sessions, players wont get voted in.
Committee last year was/is megan Mccormack,
Alyssa Kildare, Carolyn Morales, meaghan Clarke,
Alexandra Bellini, Meaghan Healey, Lauren Lopez, Danielle Castellane, Sean Donnelan (?)

I would think McCormack is no longer in the committee she is no longer coaching Northshore.
Last year in Nassau there were 9 AA all from the top conference.

There has to be a better way to make it more equitable? Maybe include HS and Club coaches for voting and committee goes over the votes and decides ?

Involving club coaches would make it worse. The problem already is that the awards are based on on lifetime achievement and reputation, not performance in the current season which is what it is designed for.

Then absolutely it should be club directors and coaches involved as well. They have some more insight to the history of the players? They all play each other and know the girls in the LI lacrosse scene. They know more about the players over the years.

i don't think many teams are outstanding this year. Lots of teams failing to beat teams they should beat with ease by winning by a goal or two or losing to teams behind them. This year it can be anyone who makes it to the championship. All depends on the team that shows up that day. Are you the team that played well against the big guns or are you the team that can barely beat a team that isn't in the playoff standings.

You must be kidding trying to involve club directors. They would only advocate for their own girls. AA has nothing to do with club lacrosse. I think the HS coaches do a good job voting for the girls who are game changers and positive role models. Obviously, to be an AA you need to play well against the better teams. Also, AA is reserved for upper classmen committed to play in college

No, I don’t think it’s going to be a good game. St. A’s barely beat St. Doms yesterday. They are not looking like an elite team people thought they would be. I don’t think they will be able to give Darien a good game? I think it will be a blowout. (Darien by double digits)

On paper, one would think with St. As roster they would be doing much better? Something is not coming together for that team this year? This shouldn’t be a rebuilding year for them, as their roster is stacked with D1 commits. So, Why isn’t it coming together? Someone over there needs to regroup and reevaluate their talent! Maybe change something up? They have not really beat any hard comp. Just beat catholic conference teams and one upstate team.

Darien’s UNC commit is the #1 recruit and the top HS player. They also have multiple other top D1 commits and great players. Darien is the #1 HS team and has probably the #1 best coach in girls HS coaching. St. A’s will be playing without one of their UNC commits due to injury. They also seem to be struggling in a lot of areas of play and coaching decisions? They have fallen fast and furious out of top 25 national rankings. They are struggling.

No, I don’t think it will be a good game.

Well, aren’t a lot of the HS coaches on LI involved with the various clubs on LI anyways? Some, even directors? It was more of a statement about knowing the LI talent. I would hope they would be fair in naming top HS talent, regardless. That’s why you try to have a committee of knowledgeable lacrosse people. Come to agreement on the talent. Very hard to figure that out by stats. Lots of lopsided brackets! Easy to have amazing stats in some conferences and harder in others.
