Honest question: which MIAA teams put together a box team, and was it run as a full time winter sport at the school? I think I saw that Spalding ran a pretty successful team this winter (not a Spalding dad lol).

I hear Spalding is going to be very good next year.[/quote]

It was St. Mary's, Severn, Spalding Broadneck and Severna Park I believe. Good to get the boys out there competing.

Literally every team in the league is doing or offering some combination of box, workouts, conditioning, small group, team practices, captains practices or stickwork. And has been all fall and winter. If your son attends a school in the league and isn’t participating, that’s likely on him.

I mean that is accurate.

Nothing beats that MSJ-Spalding rivalry! One of the best in the nation. Game sponsored by some Hat company this year!

It’s funny the lengths the st Mary’s dorks go to pretend Spalding isn’t their rival. All the helly Hanson jackets in the world won’t change that you aren’t in severns league as an institution. These kids are choosing between Spalding and st Mary’s unless you have the scratch for severn. But don’t worry the kids don’t care and remain buddies. It’s just the pretentious never was clowns on here that it matters to.

WOW, first game of his college career, dude. He smacked you back into reality yesterday though didn't he? He wasn't pumped up. He IS the next best. Here is the link to yesterday's game, you must have missed it.

MSJ was a good team last year. Played a lot teams close. Just couldn’t get a win. They could turn the corner this year.

It's almost like it was his 1st college game after being so hyped up and it took him time to adjust...

This is so random. I am sensing some much needed therapy for some unresolved issue.

Ha ha. MSJ is not a good team. Wait. They did beat 3 "B" conference teams. Guess you're right.

MIAA A preseason standings - IMO

BOYS LATIN - borders put them over the top this year
McDonough - defending champs; did they lose too much on D
St Mary’s - most talented team top to bottom but no depth
Calvert Hall - weak incoming class but remain strong 23/24s
Loyola - can the offense finally match the talent on defense
St Paul - talented enough to surprise one of the top 2
Severn - FO dominance keeps them out of the bottom
Gilman - improving but not enough to compete this year
JC - see above comment
Spalding - lost too much; time to rebuild.

Think you are giving too much credit for the borders.

7 months from now, Spalding won't even be the best HS on New Cut Road. St. Marys and Spalding have almost nothing in common except a gaggle of lax parents with stars in their eyes and Annapolis-level entitlement.

FOGO and Attackman committed to UNC are the real deal and several additions at middie. Defense is legit; not sure about the goalie.

The goalie is there, hopefully they give him the job!

Spalding has a good group to start off that rebuild.

If their 25s and 26s can develop then they could make some noise in a year or so.

“Can develop”? Shouldn’t they already be developed? If not, they are in trouble. I hear some basement boarders were shadowing to expedite the rebuilding. Anyone have any rooms for rent close to new cut rd?

Those are dorms being built across the street I heard.

Not a Spalding parent, but looking forward to watching them. They are young and will get stronger with every game. It will be fun to watch. Build these kids up people instead of tearing them apart all the time. The negativity is exhausting.

My son plays club with a bunch of the 25s at Spalding, they have a good group there plus a bunch of talented 26s. They will be good in a year or two.

Play on club that your son gets lots of playing time. If he is good enough the coaches will fine him. Playing certain events over others will not necessarily get you recruited.
