Agree on the FOGO, he’s outstanding
However, after he gets the ball you have to do something with it. Scarsdale kids were half the size of Mamo. Goals on back door cuts and lax IQ. couldn’t win the straight up physical match up but found other ways to get it done

Yes, but Mamo probably outscored them in each of the last 2 CG per possession, which is how you know that the FOGO won them the game. Again, if you traded FOGOs, Mamo is on a big Class A run now, and maybe you would be saying that Scarsdale's back door cuts and lax IQ made it a closer game than it should be. Game was still winnable for Mamo, but the #1 reason, by a large margin, that Scarsdale won is the FOGO - and it's a big help that he is an excellent player on both sides and therefore is not a drag on them if he gets stuck on the field.

Big class A run? Didn’t Mamaroneck just lose 2 section finals in a row? If just getting to the finals equates a run, society is in bigger trouble than I thought.

Read the entire post again. "if you traded FOGOs, Mamo is on a big Class A run now ..." Seems pretty obvious what the point being made is.

To be fair, a FOGO is part of the team. You can’t “take” them away. Where would Rye be without Owen Kovacs?
Where would the patriots be without Tom Brady
Where would the Yankees be without Mariano Rivera.
The Rangers without Shisterkin.
I think the point is that the arrogance of the Mamaroneck fans knows no bounds. They lose two in a row and still act as if it was a fluke. Great teams find a way to win regardless if the other team has a standout player.
Mamaroneck had the ball on many positions and played sloppy and had a ton of turnovers.
Where are the social media posts now? They were pretty vocal before the game and crickets now.
When Mamo gets past Long Island they can start talking. Until then, humbly keep trying to improve

True to the above. Whoever claims Scars FOGO was the only difference didn't see game. The Mamo defenders were getting beat all game. First middies then the longpoles who tried to apply pressure and gave up goal after goal. Mamo went backward this season when they expected much more.

Done with the politics of section 1 all Americans, glad to see the Briarcliff middie on there though, well deserved. Its all about what school they are attending and what they did last year. Mamaroneck should not have two all Americans after losing Section. Certain players given all American just because they got it last year. Even if a kid has the talent, you have to have an unbelievable season to become AA. Lastly as an unbiased 3rd party, Rye LSM snubbed because he is not going D1, was the best LSM in the section this year.

Very happy for a Pearl River program that made their first ever section final. Good to see Rockland county represented after a long hiatus. They were a young team this year and have many returners going into next year. They seem to be on the rise hopefully can win titles in the future.

I don't have a real problem with those 9 AA Section 1 players. Wish there were more slots. I know there is some weird antiquated system but compared to other parts of the country, more than 9 slots should be made. Hopefully as game grows around here, spots expand.

BUT fully agree this post. Some juniors from last year who were AA automatically given it again this year but performed worse or missed bunch of games. Rye FOGO, Rye LSM and Briarcliff LSM couldve been named and surely were debated.

Firstly, you do realize the AA status is determined based on the regular season and does not take in to account the post season correct? Lastly and most prominently, you're quite a whiney "unbiased 3rd party."

The fact remains that Mamaroneck did not have a great regular season, numerous losses in which they underperformed expectations. Obviously you are angry as a Mamo parent that I would say this, but other players were more deserving.

These are seriously misinformed takes.

AA does take into account post-season, it's why they meeting takes place after sectional finals.
Nothing is automatic. A returning AA is not automatically "given" it in senior year. They are earned. And only this year's accomplishments are considered. Maybe someone had a down year in comparison to last, but perhaps, so did the section as a whole (I am not arguing the truth of that, just giving an example)
The number of spots is determined by US Lacrosse based on a percentage of teams that play in their area. Section 1 has about 51 teams playing, they need 5-10 more teams to get a 10th spot.

The panel making this list is made entirely of section 1 head coaches with each class represented. Players are nominated by the coaches, stats, performance, opinions of opposing coaches are all considered. It is a thorough process. It is tough to get down to 9, but it would be hard to argue that the 9 on here aren't deserving. Every year there are more than 9 that probably deserve it, but the list is 9.

least important thing about lacrosse games involving 13 year olds is the final score. Idea is to get better, learn the game etc. Wins and losses should be irrelevant while players are still learning skills.

Tomorrow's boys schedule:

State semifinals

Class D: Cold Spring Harbor (Section 8) vs. Briarcliff, 3 p.m.
Class A: Northport (Section 11) vs. Scarsdale, 4 p.m.
Class B: Garden City (Section 8) vs. Rye, 5:30 p.m.

Wish I could make a prediction, but I don’t know CSH or N whatsoever.

I don’t think Rye has a chance against GC, but that’s based upon a historical experience.

As the HS season is coming to an end, let's start talking about club lax!

How about True Lacrosse is jumping into the Westchester pool of programs. After clicking on the IG link, it seems that the Pride Lacrosse Club been re-branded as True Lacrosse.

The 2023's are in their last days of club lax.

Let's start talking about the 2024 teams.

True is an interesting move in to the region. If anything it will eat in to the B teams (Pride, 91TS, Express B-Z teams, Preds left overs.) Theyre not going to compete with PT, Eclipse or 2way.

24's pecking order:

1- Eclipse
2- Primetime

BIG GAP

3- 2Way (though this is mostly a 2023 team now)
4- Express North Black (the rest of the teams fall in to the All the Rest category)

HUGE GAP

5- All the rest

I agree with you! PT has ben taken down from where it once was, but it still is the only program with a singular team on each class level (with the exception of the WSYL year).

Which LIEN team and when did they beat PT?

In regard to LIE North, there are so many teams (AA, A & B), can someone provide a list of the LIE North team names (including class and level)?

The topic was 2024 club. Typical Preds pointing to the one class that was good. 2024 Preds are awful. 2025 Preds are even worse. Preds are a program built to cater to Rye parents....and now Mamaroneck coach.

Big gap but not huge.

PT puts the boys in much better situation to be recruited and noticed. Between running the Nike team, having NLF ranked players and hosting the tournaments the coaches come to PT is a much better place to be than EN. Would say from top to bottom at each position PT is a better team but EN has some good players that could make a game of it. Of course tournament performance is what we will judge them on so lets see where they both play and end up. Neither are as good as Eclipse.

Agreed. Ultimately the strength of a club falls not only to its record but also it’s recruiting and that’s where Express North falls way short to PT, eclipse and 2W. The EN 22 and 23 recruiting commits are non existent. Maybe it’s a talent issue, maybe the club just doesn’t help with recruiting? Who knows? Maybe it’s just not a focus of Express North as their teams in the field are somewhat competitive.

2023 class looks weak on commits outside PT compared to 2022
2024 will be interesting - FULL of holdbacks including very recent ones. PT still gets the studs, Preds copying 2way holdback obsession but the Brunswick connection makes it hard to overcome in lower Westchester. Eclipse owns Fairfield County.

Schreiber and Brameier are coaching the 2024 teams. I think it is the same coaching staff that coached 22's last year and now the 23's this year. Maybe they didnt care about the 22's and 23's and their focus is 24's and younger.

Can't really disagree with the above:

For 2023, I would maybe flip-flop Eclipse and PT. Eclipse consolidated down to 1 team for this year and they are strong

For 2024, Preds last then flip flop EN and PT based on EN winning in the fall but then again it is the fall...

For 2025, EN > PT > Eclipse >> 2W > Pred (the top 3 are bunched ahead of the last 2)

For 2026 PT > EN > Pred > 2W - I have no record on eclipse

PT, 2Way and Eclipse are definitely holdback clubs, since they all had to carve-out and create a specific team for their WSYL teams.

Not sure if Team 91 Tri-State did the same, but I'll guess it's the norm because every program has holdbacks.

Even the B programs have them, because some players have issues and parents re-classed them years ago.

Oh jeez. That would stink to hold back and not be on an A squad. I mean there is a lacrosse program for every kid out there if they want to play lacrosse and holding back is not always the answer.

Wow, Rye and Briarcliff did a great job in hanging with the Long Island teams.

Briarcliff loses by 1 goal in a 8-7 game and they were shut out in the 1st and 4th Qs. Unbelievable.

Rye made it a great game, losing 6-4 (WHAT?!). You hardly ever see that score anymore.
I wonder how many times Garden City only scored 6 goals in a game.

Scarsdale dug itself a grave and never was able to close the gap. This game result was expected.

Looking to next year, what coaching changes will happen (if any) and what towns will be taking the next step?

JJHS: Rising
Somers: Rising
Y: next two years will be tough, according to someone on the inside.

Word always was that this was the last good year for Yorktown for a bit
Agree on JJHS and Somers
Rye won't drop off much Class B will be a juggernaut again.
Scarsdale only had 3 seniors this year, so they have to be the favorites in A
Mamo and Briarcliff will basically reload.
C will continue to be a tossup
D will be Briarcliff and Bronxville then everyone else.

Coaching Changes:
Tappan Zee will be opening. That's a great Rockland team who is relatively young still
We saw what happened at Greeley, They are bringing in a new AD already too. That will be a full rebuild.

Good games but Long Island lacrosse is still best in the state and probably the country. Will not be surprised if they sweep the states.
