Schoolgirls is Memorial Day weekend close to ncaa championships. No other events around. Yea, I suspect what happened was your high school coach missed the deadline to nominate players. There is also a limit to how many they can nominate, so maybe they just didn't want to be in a position of nominating some players over others.

AS looks like it won’t have a very good 23 tournament. I assume most will try out for under armour to possibly make senior game next year. Is that why they added extra teams at other age groups. ?

School Girls is Ill timed for NY teams. Smack in the middle of HS playoffs. The strongest players have to be at practice and can’t risk injury.

And then of course you must be selected. At least in theory, I couldn't say how closely this rule is actually followed.

Yet historically all the top players make and attend this event. Some may miss the practice or two that the schoolgirls team has, but do play in the tournament.

The stronger players have too many other commitments to do this event and if they play for a strong Highschool program their coaches typically advise against them attending.

Yes, the LI tryouts were sparsely attended by top LI players. There were a few there, but not very many at all. I think they will have enough for one very good LI team, but definitely not 3! Being it’s on Memorial Day weekend, that stinks too! The NCAA championship live games will be there and it will be fun for the girls who go, to get to see the games. Not sure how much of a recruiting event it will be? No info. On what coaches will be attending.

And the 10 people that run girls travel lacrosse need to cash those checks. There are 6 teams in the 2024-2025 age group. Just call it a regular tournament and stop comparing it to UA. They are not the same. Everyone needs to realize kids may have other motives on doing these events other than just being the best player or on the best team. Some kids just want to enjoy the sport. Let them have fun and relax. For the 3,000th time. It's not an event for that. This is not an event where everyone should be playing. UA and AS were made to be the best at their age group. Putting in three teams on Long Island negated that. All for money. It's unfathomable parents can't see that without thinking its taking something away from their kid who is not one of the 20th best in their region. My son likes ice hockey. Should he be able to go play in the u16 World Juniors? Of course not. If a kid loves the sport, that's great. If they aren't the best in their division, that's what travel is for. There is enough opportunities for everyone. Nope. Everyone needs to get a trophy in this society.

Keep telling yourself that about AS and it might come true. Seems to be the trend in American society. Never seen so many people willing to lie to themselves in an effort to turn something false into something fact. Under Armour is still the barometer. 1 team. Free. AS May be the future but not yet. Not true. Top girls from all regions are doing AS.

If someone on UA roster got injured prior to their tournament, they would fill their spot with a waitlister as well. However, the only thing UA has on AS right now is that it's free. Oh and the fact that Long Island put three teams in it for a money grab. Just don't tell that to the parents on the C/Gray team. Ridiculous they were allowed to do that.

Which is what the post was about. There should be 1 team. That’s it.

There are not many girls that are going to get a “flood” of phone calls on Sept. 1 so I wouldn’t get your hopes up. The 2024 class is not that strong. The 2023 was probably one of the strongest classes in recent memory and less then 20 went to a top 10 school. Florida and Stony Brook almost took half of them. Keep telling yourself that about AS and it might come true. Seems to be the trend in American society. Thankfully nobody is interested in your analysis of the 2024 group, or your opinion that the 2023 was an elite group. The fact is nobody will know the level or ability of the 2024 group until the recruiting cycle is over.

Did you have access to the coaches and their “analysis”? Are you in the conversation with college coaches and discussing this with them? Over the years Under Armour did a very good job with their Underclass Tournament, it was by far the most competitive HS event around. On Long Island there were always a handful of players who were talented enough to make but were left out for one reason or another (in general, not making the team did not hurt them when it came to recruiting). The overbearing delusional parents have been rewarded with American Select, certain people realized that they could profit even more off the families so they created an event that they could control. Everybody gets a trophy just as long as you pay for it. It is perfectly fine to have the event and it is okay to have three teams per graduation year but to bill it as an elite or select event is disingenuous to say the least. As one of the posts pointed out, the college coaches will do their own analysis and they will let all of the parents and players know just how "select" they are. Just be thankful that your daughter plays lacrosse, the opportunities that this sport can provide are nothing less than incredible. The best 20 or so players from Long Island will have their choice of schools. There will be great opportunities for the rest of the players as well but those opportunities will not be at the better college programs. Do your best to help your daughter navigate the recruiting process, help her to stay positive and find the overall best fit so that her overall college experience is a positive one. For all but the top players the recruiting process can be very stressful for both the parents and the players.

Some tournament schedules coming out show no reflection of teams capability- Kildare playing terrible teams in their first tournament, Ramos being in the same bracket as 91 (craziness), teams ranked very low playing teams ranked very high. Will there be movement in these schedules? Do tournament directors have the understanding of the stronger teams and clubs? Kildare and Ramos should be in higher brackets then the teams they are currently versing for sure, and some 2024 b teams playing 2025 teams in recruiting tournaments? Who is getting paid to make these decisions.

Directors request the level and approve the schedule before it’s released.
As for AS , 2nd team players in Md are turning down the invite. Next person with $500 is up though. People are jumping at the chance to pay to play this elite event.

The fact is nobody will know the level or ability of the 2024 group until the recruiting cycle is over. “The Analysis if the college coaches” after Dallas? There is always a tournament or two each year that misplaces teams. It’ll balance itself out eventually Directors request the level and approve the schedule before it’s released. As for AS , 2nd team players in Md are turning down the invite. Next person with $500 is up though. People are jumping at the chance to pay to play this elite event.[/quote] The MD tryout was Sunday, and you already know the selections and who has turned down their offers?

The directors really screwed that one up. Have a feeling there will be complaints and it will change. They already did with the 2025 schedule. They pulled it back when they realized Spallina was playing in a bracket with teams they would've crushed. They changed it and put them in a more competitive schedule.

I'm guessing this may have already been asked, but what is the difference between UA 150 and UA All America? (Pros and Cons of each, Recruiting value, Selection process, etc.) Thank you .

My two cents. UA is application based. UA Underclass is tryout based. UA 150 no real recruiting. UA Underclass much better for recruiting. UA you pay 650$, UA underclass is free. My kid will be doing both only because she loves to play and while UA 150 will not have the best kids, they will still have good enough kids there for a good tournament. But if you were going to chose one or another Underclass. FYI. As with everything in kid sports, politics will be involved.

Yes, UA150 is an application w highlight video and $600+. UA All America is a tryout and free. The biggest difference is UA150 mixes up kids from many different clubs on each UA150 team and UA All America has the regionally selected kids play for their regional team. Thus, UA All America kids generally play on their regional team with some kids they know. Less so with UA150. Most importantly, the recruiting information above is not correct. I was at UA150 last year and there were plenty of brand-name colleges represented on the sidelines. Finally, the suggestion that UA150 will not have the best kids is ridiculous. Don't take my word for it, just look at the posted rosters for the UA150 teams and what club team they play for. M&D Black, Skywalker's, Yellow Jackets etc on every team.

You got 1/4 right 3/4 completely wrong. You only got the regional aspect right. To the original poster not the guy who knows the UA 150 because he was there last year. take a look at the schools that are registered to go there THIS YEAR. There’s 30 teams. And only a handful of top teams as opposed of the more than hundred coaches that go to UA Underclass. Underclass is certainly better for recruiting. But if your kid is looking to go to a school out of that 30, of course it’s a good thing. Also as for top talent just look at our region. Yes there are good players going from good teams which is why I said it is still a good tournament. But most of the top kids from the top teams are going to underclass and not UA150 as is such with my daughters team which is highly ranked. The top five kids are not going. Yes Maryland does attract more kids to this tournament. But not Ny or NJ. Why because YJ and Steps more invested into UA and Selects.
