Again, it's not productive to have to play a top team week in and week out. Alabama football plays a ridiculous schedule when they don't have an SEC opponent lined up. Why don't they play Oklahoma? USC? or any other good team from outside the SEC? Because you can't sustain that level every week. Stop trying to entertain yourselves, see it as a coach, not a fan. It's less productive to play in a conference that only fields 4 or 5 competitive teams out of 15. The majority of games the better players are either done by halftime or playing other positions. Bad job all around in Nassau. Follow the girls conference model and figure it out.
The coaches would disagree dad. Here's a thought, if you enjoy the girls' game so much, tell your son to play with the ladies. Problem solved, boys coach gets rid of the headache of you, and you get to watch competitive girls lacrosse.

What is productive about a team beating someone 23-1 or 19-0 or 22-1? Nothing is productive in those games for either team.

First off, I have no skin in the game my son's team is not affected, but...can anyone explain the formula Section XI uses for standings? How does a 5-9 team make playoffs over an 8 - 6 team? Is strength of schedule/wins/goals weighted that heavily? Not trying to knock any team but it just doesn't seem to make sense. You play the schedule you're given.

Each team is preseason ranked ( Coaches are asked where they think they stand and then it is voted on by each coach). The first ranked team plays a much harder schedule than the 12th. The 12th plays a harder schedule than the 20th ranked team. The 5-8 team you speak of was pre season ranked 6th. The 8-6 team was pre season ranked 17th. The 5-8 team also beat the 8-6 team when they played this year 12-3.

It is power rankings. Simply you either gain or lose points for a win or loss based on the opponents win percentage. If you beat a team that is 9-1 (90% win percentage) you would get 9 points. If you lose to a team that is 9-1 (90 % win percentage) you would only lose 1 point. So you don't get rewarded as much for beating bad teams. Think its a close to perfect system. It allows the top teams to player tougher competition without being punished. It allows the bottom teams to win the games they are supposed to and then pick off 1-2 better teams to make playoffs.

They play all the non conference games they need. If you’re school can’t field a competitive team, drop the sport. If you’re enamored with the girls game, watch the girls. Simple.

It is based on what class you are in, A, B, C or D which is determined by enrollment, so in section 11 division 2 there are B, C and D teams. The standings aren’t broken up by class, so it is misleading

He is a 2023 that will be going into the class of 2025. Playing JV because he is leaving for prep school next year
So, are you saying Coaches knew he was leaving for a prep school anyways? So, Why give a spot on Varsity to someone leaving??
WHO CARES I don’t but social services should and as so often happens it won’t work out for those trying to game the system. What world do the parents live in where they tell their 11th grade kid, we’re putting you back in 9th grade? That’s not reality. Your setting your kid up to fail. Hmmmm, never an issue in football or basketball. Let's be clear, the vast majority of those kids succeed, they don't fail. Just look at the rosters for previous years and see where they are now. Really simple. Very few failures. Your theory is incorrect.

I’m going to disagree. Although kids may succeed by holding back 1-3 years; and this seems to be the normal pathway for many at this point there are plenty of failures; kids who don’t end up at top colleges and kids who end up quitting lacrosse completely so I would venture to guess that “very few failures” is inaccurate As an anecdote, my kids first taste of this way back when was when he went to his first Under Armour tryout. He was in 8th grade and it was the 8-9th grade team and some kids at the tryout had driven themselves there. Yes those kids did way better than my kid but I am wondering what the definition of success is. Success at lacrosse or success in life because being a holdback only gets you so far and one wonders what life lessons you’ve learned. Maybe Elon Musk was a triple holdback. Out of curiousity, you mention football and basketball mostly reclassing down 2 grades. I didn’t think that was all that common for those two sports. Anyone know how prevalent it actually is for the 3 sports? Who does it the most?

Thanks, I think I understand it now. One question are points determined by the record of the team you played at the time you play them or are adjustments made at the end of the season?

Go back to middle school and work on your reading comprehension

Officials across all sports are experiencing critically low numbers. Why would anyone want to withstand the abuse and low pay just for the "love of the game". All you nut jobs out there who think they know it all, please go get certified and actually give something back to your sports.

Congratulations to St. Anthonys after another great game and win versus Chaminade. Two great teams with unreal talent on the field. It could have gone down as one of the classics of this intense rivalry. Unfortunately, again, it was ruined by St.Anthonys post game antics. Language used that I would not repeat, solely screamed at Chaminade parents. This group has been doing this for 4 years now, it is truly sad. The lack of discipline that the coaching staff has showed over the years is gross, and has marred this great program. Set your players and kids up to be great examples of winning or losing with class...if possible. A sad example of where youth sports has been heading for the past 10 years. Maybe the school actually gets involved with this one. Maybe even the parents. I doubt it.

Maybe it is or isn't enough for the BS they put up with, but the market will determine that on its own.

B) if they have to be paid market value, you better get ready to open that wallet and pay for sports, because the school taxes aren't going to cover it. C) If you've never done it, shhhhhhhh. It is a nightmare, because of people like you.

Sports is a life lesson, right? This has been going on for years with St. Anthony’s in both girl and boys games, on the field, in the stands. What’s sad is it’s a small group that paint a really bad picture. Fact is college coaches DO see it and for most of them, they will count it against you. Winning in OT makes it a very competitive game. Do you really think the college coach will care which team you were on? They are watching you, not the team that won. Good luck in life!

He probably meant "volunteer": to get paid way below market value for a job where you get continually abused. Officials need a break from sideline warriors who don't contribute or grow the game and just criticize.

I have never seen anything like that. 5 continous minutes of complete cursing, middle fingers etc. Pictures are starting to circulate. I would be nervous if I was some of these 23's

Catholic schools used to be notorious for the discipline they demanded and the impending consequences and punishment they levied if not adhered to. Those days are long gone provided touchdowns, baskets or goals are produced.

Athletic Directors of these schools need to hold the coaches accountable for teams bad behavior and coach needs to hold players accountable. The school needs to reprimand spectators and parents through their school resources and hold them accountable. Bad sportsmanship win or lose should not be accepted.

Except for one starting middie, most of the St Anthony kids who were putting on this show never stepped on the field or entered the game…. Embarrassing for most of the team that played hard and won with class.
