Maybe Roslyn pretty good. Roslyn not good or Jehrico. They play horrible competition. Why are girls from theses teams getting in Newsday as athlete of the week?? They would be destroyed by any real team. Why not honor the actual best girls on LI? A trophy for everyone? Isn't this a Boys High School Lax thread.... why are you bashing a bunch of girls for being considered "athlete of the week". Get a life.

Really dude, Those Private schools should only play private schools and not public schools. They recruit from all over LI.How far is that? They shouldn’t even be in the rankings with the public schools. I guess that St Ants education didn’t give you common sense.

Yeah, because they are private schools who take from all over the Island. All private schools shouldn’t play public schools or be in their rankings. They should be in the rankings with other private schools. This way public school parents don’t have to deal with obnoxious private school parents like yourself.

good question!!! i am sure everyone is partial. One thing-- seems that some schools have it set-up with announcers and some don't - if the equipment exists, it should be as simple as one dad or mom who know the names feeding them to the home announcer (another dad or mom). And what dad wouldn't want to sit in the booth and be useful LOL. It's a nice touch for the kids and attendees.

And Northport would lose to handful of teams in D2 D1 top spot. D2 is the red headed step child. You might want to take that up with GC and Manhasset there slick

And Darien was number 1 a few years ago. I would think a public would love to be in those rankings as a sense of program pride. Mt Sinai, which is a public/small school can compete with any school in the Nation.

Chaminade looking like a JV team this year. Friars by 6 this Wednesday. No way Chaminade can stop our offense playing like they did this week. Hope you were smart enough to give the six goals yesterday. Must be nice when you're up by 5 at the half and the other team doesn't make any adjustments.

19-10 what happened Chaminade What happened, a top team in the country dismantled an overhyped mediocre team from LI. Chaminade is simply not that good and their results show that……1 goal last few minutes win against Iona show that Chaminade is not a top 20 team and hard pressed to say there are in the top 50.

Props to their coach and what he does year in and year out to put such great teams together from a small pool. GC is the ultimate program and model of consistency and winning tradition in Nassau (along with Manhasset) and they get everyone's best shot, but nice to see the under the radar, less acclaimed make a statement. Nice win CSH.

Ward Melville will win D1 Suffolk They're simply not that great this year. I watched a few of their games this year. They don't have the kind of chemistry they usually have. It seems like too many kids want to make sure they get theirs instead of making the extra pass.

Ward Melville will win D1 Suffolk They're simply not that great this year. Ward Melville is by far the most dominant program in Suffolk (Nassau as well). West Islip had a nice run but they have been irrelevant for the past 10 years or so and their run was nothing compared to what Ward Melville has done. Every program will have a down year or two (most a lot more than that). Melville definitely off (for WM) the past 2 - 3 years but I would not bet against them and I am sure they will be back on top soon enough.

No question Ward Melville has been the top, most consistent program in Suffolk for the last 40 years. The list of years they did not win Suffolk is a lot shorter than the list of times they did win it. Garden City in Nassau the same is true and going back even further, 50 years. Manhasset a close 2nd and then the rest with probably CSH 3rd and either Massapequa or Syosset after that. I really don't think there is even another name worthy of being thrown into the conversation though someone from Farmingdale may think otherwise.

Average Graduating Class Size: 1. Ward Melville: 600 2. Garden City: 280 3. Manhasset: 290 4. Cold Spring Harbor: 160 5. Massapeaqua: 580 6. Syosset: 500
Ward Melville is expected to be the top sport school every year.

The CSH district straddles Nassau and Suffolk. There is an elementary school in Laurel Hollow which is in Nassau and an elementary school in CSH in Suffolk. The HS is located in CSH as well. When the school was opened in the early 60's, because of their enrollment, they would've competed in a league comprised mostly of schools from the North and South forks and eastern suffolk while there were more similarly sized schools much closer in Nassau hence the decision.

Let the mediocre schools play for the privilege of winning a lesser conference and playing up. Most games now are snooze fests and stat padding.

Power conference regular season then return to “enrollment” conference for playoffs. Makes for better competition during the season
