New US Club Lacrosse rankings out and there is no chance Crabs should be ranked ahead of the Hawks. Hawks beat the Crabs and Hawks beat Express. And Express should be ranked behind the Hawks. What a joke. Who cares! Focus on beating an below average HOCO team by more than a goal. I’m sure that is a factor in some of the rankings. Maybe you are dense we beat the Crabs a couple of weeks ago and beat Express the week before. Get back to your homework. Spalding is going to be a little tougher then AA public. No it's not. My kids told me that there are onlytwo kinds of students at Spalding. First there are elite athletes. Second there are kids whose parents were able to fill out the application.

Rankings mean nothing until the middle of July once it all shakes out This is 8th grade! These rankings don't mean anything in July either, unless 8th grade lacrosse is as far as you go in life, which based on your comments may be distinctly possible. These teams are just supposed to be away to make your kid play better and have a fun childhood experience. If just being a benchwarmer on a team that rates highly is enough for you, well that's what you're teaching your son.

What a joke. You care about youth sports way too much. Go outside and take a deep breathe Here is how this ranking works at a basic level: Hawks are currently at 97.37 rating. They are playing 91 with a 94.87 rating. The difference being 2.5. The expectation, based on the formula, is that Hawks will win by 2.5 goals. For the Hawks to improve their rating they need to beat 91 by more than 2.5 goals. If the Hawks win by 2 or less goals they will hurt their rating. Likewise if 91 loses by 2 they still improve their rating because they did better than expected. After each week, the numbers are recalibrated based on actual results. TLDR

Greater Howard “Club” Lacrosse Conference Bylaws & League Rules
These are the only two clauses relevant to grade and date of birth (age):
"The Conference follows a grade-based system based on the player’s current grade level. Players who are participating in any high-school level program such as a high school freshman, JV-B, junior varsity, or varsity team are now eligible for the 8th grade division."
"Each player's full name, date of birth, grade, parent’s cell number and jersey number must appear on this form (these fields are required when filling out form)."
There is no proof required regarding date of birth and grade. A parent could be asked/told what to fill in for date of birth and grade. The rosters are not made public. The clause allowing a high school freshman, JV-B, junior varsity, or varsity team" to play in the "8th grade division" opens the door for older aged boys playing on 2026 teams. Has this always been the case? Can a high school Junior be playing on an 8th grade team? It contradicts itself in saying it follows a grade-based system but then says high school players are eligible. Odd.

That's highly unusual these days. I "played" (rode the bench) as a JV 8th grader because we had no middle school team, and also that was 1988. Don't worry, I flamed out by 11th grade, so no Mega Chad victory stories here.

It has taken until this year to actually legitimately check/verify the Coaches - think of what it would take to verify players. Plus, the coaches who are giving jerseys to players in the parking lot on Championship weekend are just as willing to have players swap jersey on gameday.

Why did True DC forfeit to Annapolis Hawks? Because one is in the A division and one is in Elite.

from the "Ricky" from HOCO
"Roster Rules
I would like to remind everyone that players may not play for two (2) different teams regardless of age group and division. That means a player is permitted to participate with ONE team the entire season. The only exception to this is if the player switches clubs and is released and added by the clubs involved using the “Player Release Form.” I have already received a couple inquiries of players playing for multiple teams. I will be reaching out to the clubs and heavy penalties (including forfeits and suspensions) will be enforced should we find this information to be true. Please make sure your players are only playing for you and please reach out if you believe we have any “player floating” or “goalie floating.” If you have “certain circumstances” where, for instance, a goalie is injured or away, please submit a request in writing to the league so we can discuss with the Rules Committee and see if there is anything we can do."
watch out boys and girls... they are coming for you....

Imagine your sons club team gets bought out by another club. This new club jacks up the price then you have to forfeit a game because the new director thinks rules only apply to everyone else cause he is big time. Can’t make this stuff up…..

The clause was in included the 2021 Bylaws & League Rules, too. It seems that some club owners, directors and coaches on the Conference Competition Committee have stacked the deck against anyone who doesn't read the rules and use them to their advantage. Sad that winning at no cost is more important than kids playing lacrosse and having fun on the field of play. But it is what it is, just enjoy watching your boys play lacrosse!

If your team ends up with a losing season are you still planning to stick with the program? Madlax could struggle attracting impact players going forward . I don’t know of anyone talking about joining Madlax.
