I realize petty jealousy compels you to insult the richer than you dads and their kids, but you should probably leave out the kid who just lost his mom to cancer. Not a good look and pretty much confirms what a pitiful role model you are for your own kid. Best of luck to him

They have announcers at scrimmages? Come on? Didn't their top goalie graduate ?

How many of the 7-8 scrimmages did Spalding win? Did any other team play that many scrimmages?

5. Loyola- see Calvert Hall and St. Mary’s.
6. St. Marys- should be looking for a new coach next year.
7. St Pauls- Parents should wait a year to hype this team. Still a year out.
8. Gilman- should be a little better with the coaching. Just not sure the talent is there yet.
9. JC- should be a little better, but no depth to hang with top guys.
10 St Joe- should invest in their program more. Not enough kids staying home.
11 Severn- should fix their narrow field. A couple solid players, but not enough depth.

I agree with your top 4 but the rest seems emotional.
1-4 CHC, Spalding, BL, McD in that order
5-9 StP, StM, Severn, Loyola, Gilman - all of these schools can beat each other and will finish anywhere 5-9… not in the top 4, not 10 or 11.
10-11 MSJ, JC - to put Spalding (first prognosticator) or Severn (2nd) anywhere near these two shows how emotional you are. Must be a Severn or St. Mary’s parent. Hard to tell on BOTC!

How will the MIAA Playoffs work this year? I enjoyed the format they put in last year during COVID; is that in play again or are they back to the old format?

Final roster is 54 varsity, 33 JV, 37 F/S. 124 players rostered vs 144 who tried out.

Maybe more will opt out? But so much for the idea that CHC rosters 80 total kids or whatever.

I dunno, Bullis played 7-8 Freshman from the first qtr on. You may say it was a scrimmage, but the McDonough players and fans went from ecstatic to silent from first to fourth qtr. coulda heard a pin drop from sideline to stands. Obvious to anyone in attendance that McDonough came to win and were disappointed with the outcome.

The top attackman for Bullis went off when none of the McD starting defenders were in. If they were focused on winning, I think they would have left them in, or maybe put them back in...that didn't happen

But I'm sure both coaches came in with a plan for what they wanted to get done, and hopefully accomplished that

Alright. Who let moms touch the computer? This is not a “safe place”. Must have thick skin or find somewhere else to go.

Just curious why all the talk about St Mary's coaching? Many gravitate there but see a lot of negativity

Niceness is over. Its spring. 4 teams have a shot a winning. Everyone else is looking at rankings and stats, blaming coaches, holdbacks, recruiting, dorms, daddy's, clubs, and everything else.

Maybe so, but what does it hurt to carry that many kids instead of cutting them? It is pretty clear that those players on the end of the bench know right away if they will play or not. If they choose to stay on the team I dont see why it matters to anyone else. There is plenty of teams with 30-40 man rosters who only play 15-20 kids a game. Actually playing in this league takes real talent and anyone sending their kid to these schools know the outcome based on their kids talent going in. MIAA does a horrible job across the board in the actual development of players. So, If your not on a really good club team that does develop players chances are you wont play come spring season.Good luck finding a club team that does develop players. With that being said MIAA benches and practice players are well known to still be recruited and play in college - D1,D2,D3 and Club

They are a PA team. Always play and scrimmage A teams, probably the equivalent of a MIAA B or C team. McD won the scrimmage a whole lot to a little. Something like 20-4. And I also heard JC scrimmaged Indian Creek and won by a similar score.

I hope every parent on this forum reads the story of Katie Meyer from Stanford.
Please keep in touch with your child. Sports should be fun.
At the end of the day we all have to get a job, pay the bills, support a family, and live life to the fullest.
Don’t make your children live the life you couldn’t… make it about them

Pushing your children is what parents do, academics , sports, behavior , its all some degree of pushing. The ones that are at the top have many parents that never accepted less than great from their children along the way along with living thru them at times. Dont know nothing about this family and hope for the best for them, but parents have pushed their children in the past and will continue to in future.

Predictions:

BL vs. St. John’s High School
(Absolutely the Game of the day)
BL wins by a goal

Calvert Hall plays its (first, second and third string)
and beats (West-whatever). The game will be more of a scrimmage than a game.

Haverford spanks Gilman just like they did last year.

St. Stephen/St. Agnes wins by 5-goals over John Carroll

Loyola beats Gonzaga. Could be a close game.

And some of those parents will remain oblivious to any red flags and keep right on pushing and end up burying their child, and/or sadly maintaining a room full of $20 trophies as their existential KPI. FFS. That a perspective-reminder on a youth sports message board required a retort like "parents push their kids, big deal" is staggering.

Streaming was made a thing last year due to Covid. Doubt many will pay for streaming now that people can attend games without restrictions.

You should read the story before offering up your hot take. There is "expecting your child to use their full level of talent almost all the time" which is where many of us exist as parents. And also "be tough in the face of defeat, because defeat and mistakes are inevitable."

Then there is "brainwashing your kid to believe they must be perfect at all things, at all times, and they never need to change up their plan, just WoRk HaRdEr." Here's Katie Meyers story:

-HS All American at one of the top public HS in CA
-4 year varsity starter
-place kicker for varsity football
-something like a 4.95 GPA and enough credits for an associates degree @ age 18.
-full ride to Stanford (combo academic/sports)
-won womens national championship for soccer
-supposedly in the pipeline to play for US National Womens Team starting this summer (not USNWT development team, either)

-Allegedly killed herself over a student judicial/conduct referral that would have had her sit out "some" exhibition games before her graduation in 10 weeks.

Mental health is a good thing and parenting around "bouncing back" is a real thing too. If all you do is "push," it causes problems. "Ask me how I know."

Need to take things in stride and when they get to HS let them decide their path. Put them in power of their future. detest hearing parents say “he/she is doing this or that because I said so”. Most of the kids are miserable with their parents pressure and helicopter mentality.
