So did Hawks ‘27 FOGO and Goalie both reclass to ‘28? I thought both were playing up at '27, so neither reclassed.

Very familiar with the 27 age group and the fogo was good but young. sideline chatter was that he was playing up but liked the old 28 coach who son is also a 28. Probably a late 09 bday.

Might just be easier to say on age or not on age to avoid the nuance.
Hawks had a group of kids playing on age with the 27s - who are now playing on grade 28s.
This is tiresome to continually revisit as it really doesn’t matter.

Dear Maryland area teams,
If your team is looking to play the best teams in the north east the tournament to join to see the most of them will be the Tristar Lax Clash, so far 3D NE and 4 Leaf are signed up, you’d have to imagine Express and express north will be there for sure as it’s an express event, and all the other too Long Island teams SHOULD be there (91, legacy, S2S, rush, rebels, turtles & igloo), and I’m sure others from New England/Jersey will be there! You bring the old bay and crab cakes and we’ll bring the bagels, and BECSPK
Yours Truly, Long Island Dad

Has anyone done any of the Apex events? Are they worth it or just a money grab? Well let's back up and remind ourselves that if anyone is losing money at organizing lax events, they are doing a poor job. These cats (event company owners) are all making great money. So of course it's a money grab but by extension, so is every tournament and every skills camp. I don't think there is a ton of value for MD based 6th graders, in the Apex events. If your kid is playing AA ball or above, he already has access to every resource Apex is selling. And given the turnover rate in collegiate coaching, how much time do I want to spend courting a college coach to watch my kid in 6th grade. Make no mistake, the Apex events (like Trilogy) are in the I-95 corridor not FOR US, but for the rest of the kids around the country who are looking for the same level of access to coaching talent (and opponents talent) that our boys are all used to receiving.

When you get tired of losing to the private schools, just start hitting the wall, somehow come up with the tuition dollars, and we might let you redo your freshmen year and join us. But you probably wont see any playing time until your senior year. You'll be good depth for us, though.

NEW TOPIC QUESTION.....What is the magic number for kids on a roster. My son's team has 24 kids and I think that is too many and so do a lot of the parents. Obviously if you play everyone equal time the team talent/record will suffer. Seems like the better teams don't have huge rosters. I'm hearing Team 91 has 27 on the roster.

No magic number but anything more than 20 pretty much guarantees there will be at least a few kids picking splinters out of their behinds. This changes when you get to see specialized mids who only play offense and defense- then The number goes up.

Ideal number for a team that plays mostly tournaments, but also HoCo is between 18-21. 4-5 attack 7-8 middies (including fogos) 5-6 poles (including LSMs) 2 goalies Fewer and you run into problems when kids have conflicts. Once you get much above 21, hard to kids into games. For a HOCO only 6th grade team the ideal number is probably like 16-18, but you have to take tournaments and absences into account.
