Solid pedigree of coaches.

Which grade/year?
If it's the 2026 A team, I was not impressed with the head coach at the Tri Star Lax Clash (June/Long Island) and I would start with him, before I get rid of any of those players. His side line conduct was bush league and not worth the money those parents paid.

Heard they only have 1 2023 team going forward.

I thought they only had one 2023 team for the past few years.

I heard the 2023 team is now the 2024 team........

Eclipse comment about the 2023 team becoming the 2024 team is priceless.
And so true, the re-class factor within the club is huge. Feel bad for the on-age kids who didn't get the memo.
Now complaints about daddy ball there, now many dads coaching their own sons - who would pay for that at the High School level??

Yes but one of the dads is a hall of famer and even if he werent coaching his kid shouldnt come off the field. So stop the noise making.

Except the Darien lefty 2024 is way better than his son. Everyone knows it. Politics at its finest.

Eclipse 2023 was mismanaged, with good players re-classing to join the much better, relatively, 2024 team, and then older 2022's re-classing to join 2023. Top players fine, everyone else thrown into a blender.

Serious question here. Is their any club program around here that doesn’t have politics going on?

Ballers, Warriors, 91TS and Pride are good programs that have less politics. Don’t think there can be none as adults and money are involved but they’re not like Preds who require you to be from Rye then be able to play lax, 2way that will cut you for holdbacks, EN who will take your money and say you are on one of their 20 AAA teams, Eclipse and all the mentions above snd then the grand daddy of them all PT and ND the Overlord. Just like life.

Highly unlikely to answer your question, every program has some nut job parent(s), that will make baseless accusations about a coach, director or an alleged holdback.

US Club Lacrosse has posted the 2020-2021 final rankings for each grade/class. Locally speaking, a high level overview of most AA Westchester/Fairfield programs, it seems:

Eclipse is rising.
PT is slipping.
Express North, due to multiple teams on at level; it’s an up and down program.
2w is gaining.
Preds have fallen!
Team 91 Tri-State could be surging, with Greg Gurenlian being directly associated with club

What other A, B and C programs are worth mentioning?

Ballers? It's a Y town based program with some outsiders. But seriously, Ballers was established for Y players. There is most definitely inherent politics involved.

Westchester Warriors: they have a good business plan, but the development has fallen. What is shocking is that they have a loyalty program! No returning player is cut nor do they have to tryout for next years team (WHAT?!?). So they just keep adding players? How does that improve their teams?

Pride: You maybe right about this program.

91 Tristate: Charges AA rates, but doesn't seem to be able to compete and have much success.

The problem with this question is what exactly is your definition of "politics"? 100 different lacrosse parents will have 100 different definitions.

Tim Schurr should definitely get the heck out of John jay and go back to a winning program .

Hysterical and correct, however, Desko WON championships. Unfortunately, Sean did not get Y to the level that was expected.

Y lost to Rye (2x) and Briarcliff and clearly avoided Mamaroneck this past spring. Sean's stepping down was anticipated by many.

I doubt Timmy will take the job.

I hope Coach Marr steps up and retakes his position

Yorktown HS is without both varsity lacrosse coaches, Coach Carney (boys) and Coach McAuley (girls). Losing both, at the same time, is unusual.

Schurr leaving JJ would be tremendous news after he gutted the program. Time to bring in young blood...JJ alum and let Timmy go take 22 kids a year at Yorktown. Good luck with that.

How has Timmy gutted the JJ program? the program starts at the foundation which is weaker than any program out there !! why is that? why do Kids at JJ not play lacrosse anymore?

Careful in what you say, b/c there are other programs weaker than JJ.

JJ has gotten rid of Kear and Sav, both were and continue to be good coaches too. Now some of the parents/players want to get rid of Timmy. Good luck in finding someone better than Tim.

A JJ alumni, who coaches club lax, said to me that the problem is that no JJ lax alumni can afford to move back to the area to help coach and with so many new residents (parent/coaches) without lax experience, the youth development is not where it use to be.

Y has been so fortunate to have so many alumni move back to Y and help keep the tradition rolling along. But Y has also faded a bit too.

Oh well, seems that parity will rule over HS, while club lax will be the powerhouses.

You are wrong, MANY JJ alum have moved back to town, and they are coaching for various clubs. And MANY lacrosse guys have also moved to Katonah Lewisboro. They are out there, if he leaves JJ will end up in solid hands

John Jay has no players left . They went 4-11 last year and have maybe 2 kids moving up to varsity this year. The youth program barely wins at any age . The hs team could not get enough players for a fall league team. The question is, why is jj struggling to get kids playing? Is it the coaching, the parents? Why the lack of commitment ? Why are the coaches Mia while the program implodes?

I posted the 5:31PM comment above. The JJ alumni that said that to me two seasons ago has so far been right about the diminishing lax skills and how bad the HS program will fall. But he was not critical of Timmy to me. His assessment in the problem was no one with a great level of lax knowledge/experience is helping out the JJYL program.

The Kool Aid drinker with the dissenting post, conveniently points out that the alum are coaching at various clubs, but not with JJYL. Which supports your comment about the youth program barely winning.

I predict the JJ HS will be stuck in this rut for another 4 years, regardless who coaches them.

The JJ program is falling apart because of Prime Time club program. PT owner is intertwined with JJ youth program and also a JJ HS coach. JJ Kids get alienated from bad experiences with Prime Time and many end up either quitting lacrosse in middle school or switching out to other schools (often private).

Wrong again, JJYL is loaded with great coaches who played in college many are teachers and know how to work with kids. You also have a few Dads coaching who played and know what they are doing. There are varsity level coaches coaching the kids in JJYL. Problem is the kids don't want to play for Timmy so many don't even try out when they get to HS or leave in 7th or 8th grade. It's time for a change, kids need someone that can relate to them. The analogy to Syracuse is interesting.....time to bring in new blood with new coaching ideas/coaches that can connect with the kids. Timmy may be a very good defensive coach but he's checked out as a head coach. Be careful what you wish for Yorktown peeps

This statement is accurate - kids who could start or be excellent backups have quit. As to the private school angle. It has been repeated on this list before. Approximately 10 boys left to go to private (Hotchkiss, Kent, Avon, Berkshire, Salisbury and a cpl of others) and other public schools (Ridgefield). With these 10 or so boys JJ would be winning or state finalists for a 4 year period and this would invigorate the youth. I don’t know exactly why they are leaving but they are.

If kids are not playing a HS sport because they dont like the coach or because they dont make PT I would argue those kids arent that good and dont have a passion to play. Kids leaving for private is def an impact but how do Briarcliff, Rye and Mamaroneck manage through the same challenge. Starts with the culture, the youth progrram and the parents. The rest of the county has caught up to and passed JJ for the most part. They were once one of the few programs around and now are just another program. Its not a bad thing but stop hoping for glory days.
P.S. If your kid isnt good enough to make PT even with the JJ connection then maybe he should hit the wall........its not like Preds where you only need a pulse and a Rye zip code to make it. Top team around! Stop hating!

Ytown needs fresh blood, new younger perspective and most importantly leaders without ties to the town, the past...the alumni. Too much living in the past and trying to satisfy agendas has run the program into the ground. The culture needs a huge refresh.

The 2018 squad couldn't win the Section?? Poor coaching, lets be honest and everyone knows it.

Most of these jay kids left for lacrosse, they have crazy unrealistic parents. If Timmy was such a great coach, they wouldn’t leave they would want to play for him. It’s just a fact from a parent who knows. Time for a major change.

I’ve seen this rebounder used by multiple school districts throughout Westchester and by some individual consumers. Nearly every one I see, the wheels are off and frame work doesn’t seem to be secure.
Anyone else notice this?
I will say the actual rebounder’s net frame is rock-solid, I do like how the net frame is adjustable and the concept that it easily movable, via the wheels.

Any buyers out there with regret or love it?

What winning program would you suggest? I assume you don't mean Yorktown because they are old news. Hung on long enough for other more progressive programs to catch up and pass them. Down county will dominate going forward.

Why the detest for Yorktown? They’ve done their best to promote the game in all of Westchester including letting out of town kids join the youth program. The YAC website is informational as to how to get better
There are ex Yorktown coaches all over the county.

No they won’t dominate as they did because club ball has changed the landscape. Actually it is surprising it took this long for other to catch up. They will win some years and others they won’t.

Yorktown should be applauded for what they achieve without the money that the lower county parents have.

No sour grapes, no detest, just reality and disappointment. The program has been stuck in the mud while others have continued to improve. Club ball has absolutely changed the landscape and Ytown has refused to change. The down county programs especially have embraced club ball and their players have improved immensely as a result. Players playing in the most competitive environment possible with great coaching has enabled 3 or 4 programs like Rye, Larchmont, etc. to leap frog Ytown. Many thanks to all the coaches who volunteer their time, some things are impossible to overcome.
