M&D Lazers on Player Commitment

M&D LAX anticipates a very high demand for M&D roster spots. As such, we are seeking players who are committed to playing lacrosse for M&D. Players are expected to attend all practices and tournaments during the summer months. (See Tentative Practice & Tournament Schedule for more details.) We will have time off in the beginning of July and the first two weeks of August for vacation. Additionally, fall is a time for other sports, but we do expect our players to be at Sunday practices and Sunday tournaments. There are no school commitments on those days.

Although M&D LAX will never be as strict as some other club sports, we want players who are committed to their teams and the Club. Lacrosse is a TEAM sport. We understand there are family weddings, religious events, and other commitments that players will have to miss lacrosse to attend. So, these will be viewed as excused absences with prior notice to the coaches. However, playing another club sport 80% of the time and coming to one M&D event will not be allowed. This is unfair to the coaches and teammates. Additionally, players who are not committed to playing for M&D will take up valuable roster spots from players who would love to be part of the team and part of the M&D LAX family. Therefore, if you cannot make the commitment to be there, please do not tryout.

Maybe because only three of the girls were M&D, that alone could make it tough to field a team.

M&D couldn't come up with 20-24 players for a U-15 tournament? Sounds a little crazy to me

I'm sure if M&D wanted too, they could. Year on year, they manage to get almost all their Black team kids (bench included)recruited so why saddle parents with a $2-3K, multi-day day event that very few college coaches even attend?
