Under Armour was an incredible event!! Awesome exposure and well run. Both Long Island Command and Highlight made it to the championship. All the girls were extremely well coached all week. Against watered down competition. Did they win championships? Teams played to get to championships on the weak side. How did it end? Your kid didn’t make it, huh?

Didn't even entertain the thought of UA nonsense after last years ridiculous tryouts and evaluator nonsense. Saw it happened again this year. Teams made around a few of the people running it picks , and the rest just fillers who sit the bench when it counts! Serves as a spotlight for a few girls. Totally biased! Where was the Northport girl? Proves that point! Politics…

The UA senior game was great to watch on espn! Great to see the 2021's a great game. The 2022 teams for American select were not stacked with the best because the best of 2022 are already committed! Why pay $500+ for a few nike shirts and shorts(AS had bad swag). The 2023 American Select girls were clearly the top players. I watched the games and saw the coaches in attendance. The format of American Select is just better for college coaches to see the girls they are interested in now, the 2023 class. The 2023's will pay the money for the better exposure and better competition, simple as that. Why would a 2023 join the AU over the AS when 75% of the UA team are 2022 commits? They know most of the coaches are only watching "their committed" 2022 girls if they watch at all.
The 2024's were clearly the top players and I'm sure they all want to do AS again if they make the teams next year. Long Island can cry about 2 watered down teams, figure it out in the next 12 months. What was obvious from watching the 2024's is there is talent all over the country! There were a lot of surprise wins last week! The tops clubs will stay on top of the national rankings because they are just deeper than the other clubs around the country. These AS games allowed great players from different clubs to form some nice teams. The Florida and Cali teams had great showings with several legit top girls, kudos to those girls. Clearly the best grouping of 2024 talent that has been assembled was at AS last week! It will be the same story next year for the 2024's with the college coaches tents filled just like last week.

Thank you for the helpful feedback. I agree it's exciting to see good teams starting to come out of different regions - Colorado, Florida, Georgia and California look to be on the up and up! How many coaches would you estimate were watching the 23s? Were any coaches watching the 24s?

Just want honest opinions…was AS worth the $2,000 overall cost between the try out, tourney fee, hotels, gas, food and tolls for 1 tourney?
Besides costs, what would have made it a better overall experience?

I forgot to mention Colorado and Georgia, thanks! All these AS teams were top heavy in talent(UA is not to be ignored). The bottom half of the rosters may drop off in talent from the "traditional" regions, but they can hang with the best now. The elite 30 girls of every class will still go to the same top 5-8 schools as in the past. But the second tier talent that used to be 60 girls is now around 120+ girls because of the growth of the sport. The coaches that really do their homework will find the numerous hidden gems out there grinding away to improve. Understand, the undisputed top talent of the 2023 and 2024 classes are still many years away from stepping on a college field. The NFL can barely correctly pick 21 year olds who can play in their league. How do we expect to be perfect predicting how good 15 year old girls will be at the college game? The lessons are in the journey and the great events like American Select and Under Armour!!

Glad some of the other "non-traditional" areas did well. North Carolina team was filled with mid-tier players from the "host club" and the results showed.

Besides costs, what would have made it a better overall experience? $2000 is a bit steep, but I think it could be worth it . Hotels were expensive in the area. Maybe organizers can work with hotels for blocks and get some better pricing. Get teams together like at NYSR. Also, make the event more eventful, and not just like any other tournament. Offer some extras. Guest speakers regarding college recruitment, etc. Maybe have a big BBQ for all the teams. Maybe some interactive booths and vendors. Think convention… but, obviously much smaller scale. “An exoerience”

Yes but you don’t want to be on a team where you’re the best player. If there are huge inconsistencies and parent coaches whose kids blow but won’t come off the field why go there

Tourney schedule for next year weak? No recruiting events? Where do you get your info? Sounds like someone from another club whose trying to disparage a solid team, or a disgruntled parent, but here’s their schedule for next fall/summer.
Chesapeake Invitational Summer Genesis IWLCA NE cup The Grind Mid Atlantic Summer Club championship Northern Rise

Empire has always been weak ‘Always’?? What exactly do you know about Empire that others don’t?? Guessing you have been following them since it’s startup, for one reason or another. Which is actually sad in itself. Yes, they are somewhat newer in the girls circuit, but cut some slack. Never once blown out against the big clubs. Win or lose, always close games.

At the jesters 2024 tryouts they didn't warm up the goalies yesterday. They just had them pass around and then put them in stations to get shot at. Is that normal there.

Chesapeake Invitational Summer Genesis IWLCA NE cup The Grind Mid Atlantic Summer Club championship Northern Rise Where is presidents cup? Lax for the cure ? Chesapeake NE cup northern rise aren’t good recruiting events You don't need to go to every. single. major tournament. Chesapeake, Genesis, MA. All 3 of the top tournaments. The other 3 are also solid tournaments. All you need to do is check social media and as long as coaches are there, you are fine. It gets boring playing the same teams over and over, especially with some of the travel that is involved. I know 2 MD teams at a younger age that played each 3 times this summer on top of an NGLL matchup. That is what happens if you only attend the "big name" events. It's boring and annoying.
