As a real estate professional I can tell you the primary reason is the changing demographics of these towns. Generation families living in their hometown are no longer the norm. Families moving in do not get involved in the traditional activities of these towns. Subtle enough? This is certainly the case for Manhasset, less true for Garden City.

Sadly lots of folks fleeing LI in general. Can't blame them, taxes and commutes stifling, no quality of life. My kids could never afford to live on LI. I'll follow my college bound kid to Florida and never look back.

Port goalie is awesome. And overall one of best teams they’ve had in years Port goalie is awesome. And overall one of best teams they’ve had in years Chill bro. Port is a solid team but GC beats then 9 out of 10 times. “Chill bro”? Haha you’re funny. We’ve had to listen to you people yammering on here for years so you’re the one who needs to chill. You lost. Relax Schreiber daddy, you've been awful for years, one good season doesn't make up for the pathetic program Schreiber has fielded for over a decade. Next year will be the same old Schreiber. Going forward you have seen and will continue to see, much more parity with other towns improving and beating the Mann's and GC's of the world. I believe that many of the towns have caught up with the $ and hold back aspect along with getting top training for their boys. Its all good for LI lax. wow... someone finally had the cahones to say it out loud. How dare you insinuate that Mann and GC don't own lacrosse any longer? Again, one year does not a tradition make. Schreiber is having a good season, let's see how it translates and again, it's ONE year.

The town and school district will much more closely resemble Great Neck South than Garden City in fifteen or so years, which doesn't bode well for any of the sports teams.

That individual should also know the original "demographic" for Lacrosse is Native American .

Just because “his guy” the bloated, ignorant, racist, sexist, orange man didn’t win, he should chill. Doesn’t change the fact Schreiber is better at Lacrosse than “his team”! I guess, just stinks being a lost all around.

Relax and enjoy some good lacrosse people. Be happy the kids are getting to play.

It isn't racist to understand that Manhasset's demographics have been changing significantly over the past decade or two, and that the new residents care more about Kumon than lacrosse. Maybe they'll have a good fencing team (LOL) in fifteen years, but I wouldn't bet on them in the Woodstick. Pretending this isn't the case might make you nerds feel better but it won't change reality.

Because it is racist and the person that posted it is oblivious to that or just a straight up racist. Can you share your rationale? Cause screaming racist twice in one sentence doesn’t make it so. People with a strong appreciation for lacrosse are aging out or moving away and being replaced by younger families from NYC or from areas with little to no history of lacrosse. Saying they should assimilate and learn the game might be racist but no one is saying that. The shifting demographic is the natural evolution that occurs everywhere, it might hurt lax but it strengthens the community in other areas. Diversity is good, right?

How is discussing demographics racist? If a town has a certain make-up that does not emphasize one activity over another the participation in that activity will go down. This is why your seeing the increasing popularity of lacrosse in non-traditional areas like Florida and Texas. As more ex-NYers move out of state they bring the game with them.

The 1st post was using racist stereotyping if you look at it. The second post was a racist joke. The demographics discussion is accurate.

But you’re a stunad because clearly the admins removed the disgraceful post. I hope the person that wrote it thinks twice. While anonymity makes people brazen, it is still easy to shut down a certain IP address.

Does anyone else see the errors in the reporting of scores and stats to newsday or lilj. Some of the numbers are fantasy. Finals scores usually accurate but stats are way off (assists, saves). Some scorers tables have HS kids and admins with no knowledge of the game. I have an attack and goalie playing and some stats are not even close. These results are often looked at by scouts and hurt potential recruits. Anyone else have thoughts on this.

In the long run everyone knows who the best players are!

College coaches do not do their recruiting by looking at Newsday Stats. I believe the winning coach is responsible for notifying Newsday of the score and the statistics. Also, college coaches do not really recruit at HS games. You will see College coaches at HS playoff games once the college season is over. Unfortunately, many times the coaches are there to watch and support the players that have already committed.
