Great game today. West Islip was leading most of the game. Early on up 4-0 in first quarter. Outstanding performance by both teams especially West Islip. Considering SWR's 1st and 2nd lines are all going D1. WI lost vast majority of faceoffs today. Above everything else this was the difference in the game and cost WI a win. WI looked better as a team, but almost every faceoff they lost. SWR is a stellar team, but I think they were incredibly surprised at how good West Islip is. Many of the kids on WI have been overlooked and are extremely talented players. One thing which was very disappointing was the fact that SWR's security made all West Islip fans leave the visitors stand because "they were too loud" cheering for their team. There was no cursing, etc just good old fashioned cheering. I believe SWR was being spiteful and childish because at that point in the game WI was up 4-0. So apparently if you play SWR on their field dont cheer too loudly because you will be asked to keep it quiet and move off the visitors stand. I think the fans support of WI was definitely making a difference and SWR wanted to remove that advantage, but what can you expect in a world where people are now too soft to hear words they deem "not nice". The old sticks and stones saying no longer applies, especially in SWR. In any event, great game and look forward to the playoffs.

SWR should be ashamed of themselves, not the players but whoever allowed that to happen.

are you saying they threw the WI parent out of the game? or they asked you to move to a different section of the stands?

No sour grapes at all. Both teams played great. I didn’t criticize the game play of SWR at all. I applauded their play. Close game and they won. The decision to remove the fans is a separate issue. If you don’t see a problem with it then that’s a shame. I suppose there are some like yourself who are much more susceptible to being hurt by words than others and prefer living in a police state where people are immediately silenced for voicing an unpopular opinion or cheering for the wrong side.

Surprised WI kept the game that close. SWR is the best team in Suffolk this year. Not a SWR parent (thankfully).

They said if WI fans didn't leave the stands they would be escorted out. They told WI fans to go to the opposite side of the field (away from SWR players) to the left of the main stands. Most were standing next to the home team stands to avoid any conflict with SWR fans. They said the loud cheering was disruptive to their team. For some reason SWR players were on the same side as WI players. Usually on opposite sides of the field from each other. Just to be clear, SWR is an absolutely incredible team. Played a great game. SWR fans, parents, family were also great. No issues. But asking WI fans to leave the way they did was really sad. There were only a handful of WI fans anyway. Very strange.

Must've been the first lacrosse game you've ever watched. Players are always along the same sideline, split by the midfield line. The lone substitution box is there.
Lacrosse, teams are never on opposite sidelines.... NEVER

how obvious can you make it that you are SWR Mom. comical but I will play along. BBP is the best in Suffolk, ESM is 2nd despite the Sayville loss but for now I got to say ESM 3 and Sayville 2
SWR is NOT even in the conversation

In the end doesn’t make a difference in regard to removing fans

Um, so fans were not removed they were simply directed to relocate to different bleachers? What's the problem with that? Big difference between being relocated and removed.

BBP...stop

I am a Nassau parent, not a SWR mom.

I'll accept your opinion that SWR may not be the top team, but to say not even in the conversation is foolish and discredits any legitimacy to your knowledge of the Suffolk landscape.

I’m not making a big deal out of it. The West Islip fans were moved to a different area much further away from the teams because the cheering was impacting the game. West Islip fans cheering was making a big difference in the game and charging up the Lions. I was simply saying that it was a very sad and petty thing to do. Especially when they threatened two expel elderly grandparents if they didn’t leave the stands. If you don’t see a problem with it then that’s your opinion. Perhaps if it was done to your town team you will have a different view.

Why were the parents and grandparents (I can only assume that is who would attend an away game) being so raucous?? These are young adults who have been practicing and competing in a good lacrosse program. If parents need to be "charging up" the team for them to perform, West Islip has a bigger problem on their hands

Maybe the West Islip fans were excited because SWR has been hyped up to be the best team on LI, with national and state rankings, and they have a large number of kids on newsdays top 100 boys lax players. They were excited because they were beating mighty SWR 5-0 in the first quarter. Your asking why they were so raucous? Come on man......its exciting stuff. If the SWR grounds crew needed to move them because things could have gotten a little testy in the shared stands.....good move by them.

No one was being “raucous”. People were cheering loud. I never said it was elderly. Oh and West Islip has a big problem if cheering for the team inspires them? That makes no sense at all. If you played any sports at all you would know that people cheering for you on the field definitely helps. I remember back in the NY Islanders the Stanley Cup years the players saying that having the fans cheering for them really charged them up and helped them win the playoffs. I guess they had a big problem as well then huh? My whole point was that it was a sad thing to see them do that to visiting spectators. That’s it. It’s always so funny on these types of forums people start to trash talk and get insulting anonymously online when in person they’re as quiet as a church mouse. Hysterical.

Yes you are correct. You absolutely hit the nail right on the head. SWR has been hyped up and the boys were very excited to be winning the game at that point as well as the parents. SWR has many stellar players on the team. West Islip has a lot of respect for them. I’m not the type that gets real loud etc. but under those circumstances I can understand it. As long as there is no cursing or insulting etc. there shouldn’t be any problem. Things definitely get exciting. The funny part part about all of it was West Islip spectators were on the opposite side of the field from the home spectators. So there was no potential conflict there but they asked visiting spectators to move out of the area anyway closer to home spectators. So definitely had nothing to do with any issues between fans etc. As a matter of fact most of the West Islip spectators stayed away from the home stands just to avoid any potential conflict and watched the game standing.

So now we’re starting new threads for one particular game ? Put it under the high school thread. 99 percent of us on here don’t care about the game.

What about being excited to be in this situation with your family because your son worked so hard getting here. That’s good stuff. Just be respectful.

SWR is the best team in Suffolk county and probably on Long Island. Possibly New York State. 1/3 of the team won states the last real season we had. That same group would have been 2 time champs had COVID not happened. They have the most talent. If Rotanz was still there, they probably would have won the last 4 State championships with that talent. Taylor won 1 but had remember he had Chris Gray and lost the 2 years he had him. One has to wonder if those that got Rotanz removed ever second guess that.

Back to the game, maybe SWR expected WI to be the program they’ve been for the last 10 years. Clearly the SWR team took their best punch and came back and won. Talent has a way of rising to that challenge. Bad news for all the future SWR opponents - now they’ll show up and blow your doors off.

You BBP people need to relax. Not there yet and likely won’t get there soon. Your girls program is better. Great game WI welcome back to respectability.

Slow the SWR train...they should've lost the LI championship game in '19. An inexcusable dead ball penalty with SWR down by 5 turned the tide. Once again in '20, the C State Championship would've really been played in the LIC in a rematch... Manhasset vs. SWR would be a classic LIC if that game is played this season. Manhasset would be the favorite in my opinion. I'm sure there are other dissenting opinions and I respect them-some more credible than others-but that is what makes the games so much fun. smile

Apparently you bought into the MT Sinai hype as well. SWR was resilient all season and was down a bunch to CSH in the LIC and came back and won that too. Had they played in ‘20, SWR was loaded. Take this years team, add back Arline and Co. Anyone that watched that 19’ county championship game watched him torch the SWR to Mt Sinai transfer for a half dozen goals.

An LIC match up vs Manhasset would have been a great game prob better than either of those ‘19 games. Talent everywhere on the field, and you’d have to give Manhasset the edge at the x. Their guy was lights out. Would SWR D have stepped up, would Manhasset have locked off Arline..... again we’ll never know.

SWR has multiple sophomores as starters

Nobody was asked to leave the stands, a few (wi)Fathers self removed themselves since they were so heated and calling the referees curse words.

original poster states the players were all on same side, really?

SWR 22- ESM 6

I agree SWR is the top team this year. Give BBP 3 more years they will be hard to beat.

SWR can’t be the #1 team on LI. They got blown out by Comsewogue. Sure they only lost by 5 but anyone watching that game saw SWR unable to win a face off, run their offense, stop anyone. Lot of Mustangs there to take it in. What’s the under/over on Spalina points for that SWR game.

SWR can’t be the #1 team on LI. They aren’t the #1 team in Suffolk let alone their division. They just got blown out by Comsewogue. Sure they only lost by 4 but anyone watching that game saw SWR unable to win a face off, run an offense, or stop a shot. Looked like If it was on the cage it was a goal. Is there a back up? This didn’t look like a nationally ranked team more like a bad rec league team or a start up travel squad playing in their first tournament game.

Or...Comsewogue is really good. Which I think is the case this year. SWR is legit. They probably had a bad game....but the Wog is also legit this year....

Hey, I was touting SWR and thought they were the best team in Suffolk. That is why they play the games. Kudos to Wogue.

SWR proved again today, they are the best team in Suffolk County taking down the undefeated Mt Sinai Mustangs.
Great game between the two best teams in Suffolk.

Rematch in 10 days in the Suffolk final.

We will see if SWR wins another title.
