CH fired a coach? Who? Why?

Agree with most of this with two exceptions.
Defense heavily favors SM and the score will be more like 11-6

Spalding has better balance and depth but SM has more experience in big games. St. Mary's is playing at home in front of a raucous crowd (not in the stadium but up on the hill) and may have the hometown advantage with the zebras. The Saints as a Program are used to this type of game while the crew from New Cut Road are relatively new to this type of pressure. Having 2-3 great poles may not be enough for the Saints as Spalding can score from all six positions. Its going to come down to the role players and in game coaching adjustments. For SM, its about the SSDMs and the less heralded offensive players and for Spalding, its going to be about coaching adjustments and not allowing the vaunted defenders at SM to disrupt their transition and settled offense. The face-off X is a toss up although one of Spalding's FOGOs can initiate a break. Both goalies are solid: if one gets hot that can swing the game as well.

First loss to Spalding in CH program history. Some heads had to roll.

One Heck of a Game so far at StM. Both teams are going at it.

After settling in, the Dingers hold St. Mary’s to 3 goals over 3 and a half quarters. Not sure if St. Mary’s had Covid issues, but hard to see that group beating BL and Calvert Hall. Anyone have the scoop?

4th win all time against the Saints in 24 matchups. Blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

Spaulding wins 10-6. I believe at one time Archibishop Spalding was called Martin Spalding HS.

The Saints already handled BL and Hall. Does anyone in the Dingers history have playoff experience? We'll have to see what happens when stuff gets real in the MIAA.

I see the same few people in here arguing with themselves about Spalding... One thing you can’t deny that offense is the best In the league right now they play very unselfish.

I think you could make an argument for McD. Scoring is very well distributed and of course they scored more goals head to head....

Off day shooting, playing against a great team, or just not enough talent on the O side of the ball; pick your poison. Saints were only 2 goals below their season average according to the Gazette. Defense wins championships, but at some point the offense needs to score to keep pace with teams like Spalding. Kudos to the Cavs offense who dominated after a slow start getting off the bus.

How bad is the MIAA coaching that they can’t stop the flip play that Spalding has been running all season? How about teach off ball defensive positioning and defensive approaches. Not hard. Offensively know how to break a zone. Spalding is terrible man to man. None of the close defenders will lead a college defense.

Break the zone and cover number 8 aka Mighty Mouse

Spalding going to get their kids hurt with the flip play. Almost happened in the SM/AS game.

Cover backside and don’t ball watch. Discipline play will stop it. It’s the MIAA - “BEST LEAGUE IN THE COUNTRY” - so they say.

Covering number #8 is easier said than done, clearly. He's very talented. You need two fresh LSMs with enough physicality to take away his left and direct him away from the cage. Breaking a zone requires great dodgers who are also adept feeders, rapid ball movement to the backside and snipers on the outside. If you don't have the pieces, Spalding is difficult to beat.

new cut rd high school finally figuring out how to win a couple games in the miaa. you'd think they won the championship the way the parents celebrate after every game. does LJ even contribute to their offense or is LS influencing Phipps that much now?

You are just jealous that the SG boys have a fan base that actually cares to show up and watch them play. It’s called school spirit. Lots of that for all the teams on New Cut Rd
