The amount of "non-athlete" daddy's on here is amazing. Guys who think a HS program's success is based on D-1 commits. If you ever played the game, or any sport for that matter you would understand it is the Team, not the I. that's why so many of your sons will fail at the college level. Once it's not about junior he will walk away from the game. All because his daddy told him it's about the "commitment" not being a team player, and that the team win is more important. Oh well, good luck with your 3-7 season while GC beats your behind again. By GC parents saying my kid’s HS (GardenCity) will beat your HS it invites the comeback from a D1 college commits to say my college team being D1 will beat your GC kids D3 college team. Just thought you should know what people are thinking each time GC parents claim our HS lacrosse team will beat yours. Continue on. If you think a HS program should be dedicated to your son becoming a D-1 commit, you're foolish. If your only goal for your son is to become a D-1 commit, you are foolish. If you think there is a pot of gold at the end of the lacrosse rainbow you are foolish. Continue on

Continue on I do think that a HS should develop the team and the individual players especially when the parents pay 2-3K to play on the in house club team. Doing that and the result getting into an average d3 lacrosse program and decent liberal arts (low on the graduate pay scale) academic college is not a good result. But everyone has different standards on what they consider successful and foolish.

"Having dads who played growing up is a huge advantage, especially at the youth level. You don't need to have started at Princeton in the 90s to be a good, informed teacher."
So true... the benefit of having played or even been on the team in a college program and exposure to offensive structure and drills at that level is a tremendous experience that manifests itself in better coaching, no matter from what decade, the fundamental concepts really have not changed that much over time. Not every town at every age level really has that depth--even in the "good programs". Wait what? Offensive structure in the youth game? Youth lax should be about throwing, catching and having fun. Only the dad himself cares about his own lax career 30 years ago. "Offensive structure" at that age means spreading out on the field and constantly moving around, and there's nothing wrong with teaching that to even very young kids.

Time to change the subject. This should be a safe topic. Does anyone have a list of high schools who are allowing visiting parents to attend games and what the restrictions are for the visitors?

Oh well, good luck with your 3-7 season while GC beats your behind again. Of course most parents teach kids to be team players. You are suggesting that all those kids who committed to compete at the division one level from Long Island are not team players and were taught differently. I think the point is that although everybody wants to win championships the goal for many is also to play d1 college lacrosse. This is a especially so at the top high school lacrosse programs like Garden City. To suggest that these kids will not be team players show a lack of understanding of of the recruitment process. These kids are scrutinized big time and all seem to have passed the background check and is he a team player check that they all must go through. This goes for all divisions not only division one. Also, it has to be considered a failure for top level high schools to not be able to get any or very few kids committed to division one lacrosse programs. So don’t pretend having no d1 commits for any one year is not a failure. One of the silliest things written on here. You’re opinion on the recruiting process is incredibly flawed. Shows an utter lack of understanding. Seems like you missed the boat on athletics at every level. Little league baseball isn’t college sports.

Section 8, Nassau still at 2 spectators per player, ridiculous There are schools that don’t allow visiting parents. It would be nice if each school had their policy on their web page. From what I understand there are parents going to games they are not allowed to go to. Some of this could be avoided by just posting a policy where people can find it.

Most of the high schools are switching this policy since a football player was taken out in an ambulance and his parents were not at the game.

I can say one thing with fair certainty. If boys lacrosse is still labeled a high risk sport thus forcing kids to test weekly both Nassau and Suffolk's seasons are going to be a mess. Football only plays one game a week, and most schools have been giving their kids off two days before testing to prevent shutting down and STILL we see programs missing games and throwing schedules into complete disarray. Now imagine 3 games a week and a team having to sit for 10 days. Parents HAVE to pressure local politicians in both counties to follow what the NFHS and NCAA have already done. DROP LACROSSE FROM HIGH RISK.

exactly my point and for years we have mirrored their decisions....the NCAA also lowered lacrosse into the intermediate risk.... for whatever reason (fear) suffolk and nassau county will not change this.... understand that what they are doing in most districts is quarantining a team from practices and games but not school??? So it isnt about safety its about fear and accountability.... the ONLY way this gets changed is if parents go off and make local politicians uncomfortable

The students are NOT the ones getting sick. The schools sit on their rears while kids are missing out on being kids, not just sports but all extracurriculars. You can sit inside at a restaurant but not outside at an away event. How does that make any sense. Given a little power the school administrators have run amok. You'll be marked absent if you miss a class but what happens when a teacher has been cancelling all year? Insanity.

Suffolk schedules are out on Section xi site Nassau schedules are up on the Section VIII site too. Lots of teams moved conferences. Is that because of enrollment numbers or past performances? Seems nothing is consistent with other sports, some secret formula not published anywhere. Manhasset now in Nassau C but may be tougher for them because of CSH and Locust Valley.

Are people saying they are bad programs? Manhasset will be the best team out there in my opinion. GC and CSH will be very good and playing for championships. . People are pointing out facts that have not been rebutted other than playing the jealously card. Instead of playing the jealousy card point out why these posts are wrong. If GC and CSH have more than one d1 commit for 2021 prove them wrong. If they are more successful now than they have been in the past glory years show some facts or stats and prove them wrong. Playing the jealousy gets you nowhere other than showing you can’t prove them wrong and what they are saying could be correct. Manhasset will be the best for the next three seasons. 2021 & 2022 have two of the top players in the nation and the 2023 class is loaded. The 2024's wont compete with GC CSH SS or even Lynbrook.

Nassau County Lacrosse Coaches Association and also Section 8 websites are the worst. Zero information, nothing ever updated. It's no wonder there is always so much confusion and infighting.

Going to be seeing a lot of that due to the recent NCAA decision to give current players the extra years eligibility. There is a log jam of talent and the incoming classes will be hurt for the next several years. I know of several 2021 legitimate D1 players who finally gave up trying to play in college. The transfer portal has altered the recruiting and rosters as well. Does anyone think TD Ierlan should be playing against 18 and 19yo college kids. What class is he actually taking at DU? The NCAA can't make up its mind.

Listen to the lacrosse commentators during the next D1 game you watch and you'll hear how great it is that these Men were given another bite at the apple and this 5th year or 6th-7th year senior is playing. Yeah ask the kids sitting on the bench and ask them how great it is watching these Men transfer in from other teams or stick around for another year-not so great.

Correct NCAA made this a complete mess no reason for Juniors Soph and Fresh to get an extra year senior give them one and done but now the back log in lacrosse is rediculous . If anyone think a 2021, 2022 , or 2023 are going to come into a team and be an impact it is going to be very difficult rosters are loaded and you still have transfer portal ....

In order to avoid the recruiting mess, a ton of parents will choose to reclass their 2023’s. Reclassing to 2024 is really the only way to get out from under what the NCAA did. Sitting behind 4 years of players with a transfer portal that is out of control does not sound like fun.
