Is Black Ice still the best team at this age group? Curious to hear. I've got a 2023 and am thinking about how things change over the years or if they generally stay the same. Did the Md teams all pass Igloo b/c they're loaded with holdbacks? Did any of the LI teams catch up? Did Black Ice lose any key players over time or did the core stay together? It is really a toss up between a few good teams. Many of the out of state teams have older kids just because of their school rules to begin with, and then add the double hold backs to the list. Blaze has a few "reclassed" Crush players who didn't get offers early, so they are a different team, as I'm sure is the same for Black Ice. You do start to see more parity at this grade level as the early bloomers start to fade and the late bloomers start to dominate. Plus there are players who play Varsity in 9th and 10th grade that start to leapfrog some of the better players. There are NO crush players playing on our Blaze team. This is the age where parity takes place as kids grow and sometimes kids don't show Many more coaches on sidelines and therefore the sidelines should finally quiet down

Does anyone know about this Stinglax team? They keep sending emails with all of these commits, but I have never seen them play, or even heard of them.

Run with the Best Showcase such a complete disappointment. What was there maybe 10-15 College coaches there. Thanks for nothing. Hope you enjoy the donation!

Congratulations to the boys who made it to the LI Showcase Final 50. The competition was much better this year, and the event was also run much better. The coaches were evaluating both fields so everyone got a look.

My son struggled defensively on an overall bad team, I felt worse for the goalie. It's a popularity contest. How many SYO kids didn't make it? After the 2nd game it looked like an NBA all star game with everyone hogging and trying to get their shot off.

The coaches were evaluating both fields so everyone got a look. I guess your son was selected My son was selected this year, but I agree, it was run much better. Last year my son was on a field with only 1 coach, and all the other coaches only watched the one team. It seemed that last year if your coach wasn't there, you weren't getting looked at. This year the coaches were watching both fields. Some kids did get shafted that would normally make it because they were on teams that either had the one ball hog who took all the shots, or they just weren't able to show off their skills. These things are definitely political, as most tryouts are. Congratulations to those who worked hard to make it and were rewarded.

I didn't pay attention to who the players were by number, so I have no idea if one school has more kids going than they should. I guess I will find out next Friday.

People need to stop wasting money attending this showcase. Its a farce run by the club owners of FLG and Igloo and the results have little to nothing to do with the tryouts. Coaches get together after the showcase, throw the results in the garbage, orders a few beers and discuss who they want to attend. Save everyone time and just invite the kids you want and stop stealing the money of the parents of the kids you don't. Oh wait, you they won't do that because its a easy 20K collected, per session, per county. And for those who think I am just a disgruntled parent who's son didn't make the cut, no. Sadly I know how this really works and I want no part of it and the people who run it.

Same for the boys 2021. Apparently its not required for some kids to come to the tryout. Such a joke. Don't waste your money on this thing.

How did the summer go for everyone? My son is very eager to see if he gets any calls on 9/1. It is a little nerve racking not really having an idea of the interest. Being coached at the showcases by college coaches and going to the school prospect days are the only real way to have any idea. Even there they are limited in what they can say. Good luck to all, and have a great August.
