Not who you're responding to, but I agree, and it has nothing to do with the role my son plays. Did you think it was a good piece of journalism? I used to love the way sports journalist used to write. This, not so much. I think it was the coaches for the team write-ups. Did the individual team coaches do their own write ups? To much inconsistency across the teams notes. Not the same writing style.

Looks like there are lots of key returning players for West Islip. They will be a deep unit, could help in the later part of the season, as long as no one turns green and everyone stays happy with their roles.

For $2.99 its far and away the best, most in depth summary out there. Ok haters, where else are you going to find a preview like that???? Some people just have to always complain about something. Give it a break. Not looking for a Pulitzer literary piece but some broad color on high school lax, it works.

Didn't think it was garbage, it did have misspelled names for some of the players. If you disagree with FLG rankings thats fine it was FLGs opinion. Info on impact players for teams I thought was pretty accurate.

It was a fun read, yes there were mispellings and some sentences that were questionable. But there is an audiance for it and we will take all we can. Stuff like this is crack for both the families and players. Could have been written better and had it been better it would have added a bit more credibility. But thats okay its just HS sports and something for them to look back on. (see what I did there)

As for the team ranking, they explained last night, they reached out to the coaches of each Section (8 & 11), with a poll of how they would rank the teams, then compiled the results and came up with the rankings. As far as the individual team write ups, personally I dont think they scouted every last player. I think, they do kow many and since they know most of the coaches (or most of the coaches know them and what they are doing), they got the info from the coaches about the players and learned who they may not've already known about. Season starting soon anyway so the proof will be in the pudding, lets hope there is no snow in the forecast. Although there is Rain forecasted for 3/15 and with 7 NL games for Suffolk and 2 NL for Nassau. QUESTION, why not have the games on 3/16 and open up on a Saturday. But its a whole week away who knows what will happen.

I get what your sayin', i just don't subscribe to that point of view, 'cause when its over - its over! Its in the journey not the destination!

That said, 4/1 and I'll add 5/1 are huge dates to figure out how it may unfold. Because an early loss to a top team may not define many teams season's. If you get to the top 11, you can work for a second shot.


1st Part of season (test) - 4/1
Mid Season (check) 4/16
Playoff (prep) - 5/1-5/7

Only one team can come out on top, for the rest it is the cycle of rinse and repeat!

Scrimmage in Northport tomorrow: Harborfields, Walt Whitman, Northport, HHH West, Kings Park, ESM, Commack, Lindenhurst, Elwood & Huntington tomorrow @ Veterans Park. Some good matchups, will be interesting.
