Quinnipiac University has suspended the men's lacrosse teams amid investigations of alleged violations of its student conduct policy.
“The university has suspended the men’s lacrosse team pending the outcome of an investigation into alleged violations of the student conduct policy,” said Lynn Bushnell, vice president for public affairs. “This suspension, which takes effect immediately, prohibits all team activity, including practicing and representing the university in competitions. With the well-being of our students being our top priority, the university has zero tolerance for any behavior that endangers any member of the university community.”
While sources have given an indication of the alleged incidents, IL has not yet confirmed what led to the suspension. Sources have told IL that the suspension includes all coaches and team members.
The Bobcats went 9-6 in 2018 and lost a dramatic overtime game to Canisius in the MAAC Semifinals. They return senior face-off specialist Will Vitelli and their three-leading scorers in seniors Foster Cuomo and Mike Fletcher and sophomore Jake Tomsik.
Coach Eric Fekete has led the team for 17 seasons.
