The death of Sons 2023 can be directly traced to Big 5. That team was a bad idea and now none of the players that played on that team are happy with their “not Big 5” club team.

They were never a AA team but still played in those brackets....now they will have to play B

[quote=Anonymous]Are Sons 2023 folding? Plenty of kids at tryouts. Why would they be folding? Tons of kids left for other clubs, they will have a team, but a B team at best. What about '25 Sons? Should be strong[/quote This is the first time they tried to field a 2025 team. They folded up their 2024 team a few years ago, burning many bridges at this level, only to barely piece together a reconstituted 2024 team this past year. Track record not so good. Maybe Elevated will bring players to these younger teams, but be careful about paying money upfront before you absolutely know they have an actual team in place at the skill level you’re looking for. These won’t be AA teams, and probably not A teams. Good luck! So funny, they didn't fold their 2024 team up they basically gave it to nxt and its now nxt strongest team. There were a ton of kids trying out at the 2024. My son was on the Rising Sons team last year and we were B. He did not make it this year. There was a ton of talent. We are accepting the B invite because of the coaching. You have zero clue what you are talking about. With Brian Samson coaching 2025's i'm sure the team 10 kids will soon be leaving.

Noticing a lot of teams are having supplemental tryouts. Is the talent pool that bad?

Noticing a lot of teams are having supplemental tryouts. Is the talent pool that bad? There are way too many local teams, you can't pitch playing AA events if you don't have the horses. Freedom is a great example they have always had very solid AA teams and now they are forced to bring in kids from all over the East Coast. When only two, maybe three teams can truly field AA teams at 2023 and 2024 with local kids it shows how diluted the talent pool is. It won't change though as long as parents keep spending $2000-3000 to have there son play.

Noticing a lot of teams are having supplemental tryouts. Is the talent pool that bad? I’m gonna say that is probably one of the major reasons. The other reason is that tryouts range all over the place... some started in June, some haven’t even happened yet. Players are probably taking whatever offers they get as a safety net until they are on the team they really want, then back out of the other offers, so teams now have to backfill for empty spots.

Truth is Merging with MSI killed the 2023s. Despite reassuring summer practices would stay at MP, it's only a matter of time before everything ends up at MSI. Why would MSI rent field space when they own fields? For at least half the kids MP was a haul, now add 30-45 mins. MP and All Sports was a better mix for most.
90% of the kids would have stayed despite being under .500 this year, there were few teams that can say they played that tough of schedule all year. It also hurt by not having named a coaching staff for 2023 and below no knew what they would be walking into, especially after announcing the Elevated merger.

My understanding is that the 23's coach left, took his best kids to Mesa and no replacement was named. That was enough for pretty much all the kids to bail.

Rising Sons has a good FOGO on an average team. The FOGO is also on Dukes. Sons doesn’t make the top 5. They couldn’t compete with Mesa and Big 4 last year and have lost players.

Rising Sons were crushed by Mesa and HHH at the Ice Breaker. But their training is so much better than everyone else. They may have lost, but the level of coaching the kids have received since will put them ahead. Who is coaching your kid?

2023 scores from yesterday - MD 91, Freedom, Patriot? Don't remember the scores but... MD 91 tied Patriot and lost to Freedom. No idea what they did against Sons. Sons lost to Freedom. No idea what they did against the others. Freedom won all their games.

Karma is biting him in the butt right now. Create the Big 5 and than watch the two coaches dismantle your program has to be a killer...Sons is just a place to play now so you can say you play travel lacrosse.

what happened to Uprising? Uprising is run through HHH on the girls side but ends in 6th grade (with the hopes that some of the girls will continue with HHH through Middle and high school). I think the boys side fell through (but it too was briefly being run through HHH).

What is going on with Malvern this year? They are barely scoring any goals, and from what I have seen they are losing way more than they are winning? I bet people are not happy about paying so much to go there for years just to stink when they finally make the Varsity team.
